A slew of bluegrass and roots musicians will come together at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium to celebrate Earl Scruggs’ 100th birthday on January 6.
The special tribute concert will air live, one time only, on Veeps.
Jerry Douglas will serve as the night’s musical director and The Earls of Leicester, The Del McCoury Band, Gena Britt, Alison Brown, Sam Bush, Michael Cleveland, Stuart Duncan, Jimmie Fadden, Bela Fleck, Jeff Hanna and Sierra Hull will all pay tribute to the banjo innovator.
Other confirmed guests include: Bronwyn Keith-Hynes, Jim Mill, Justin Moses, Jerry Pentecost, Todd Phillips, Harry Stinson, Bryan Sutton and Tony Trischka.
Proceeds will benefit The Earl Scruggs Center, which is dedicated to the preservation and celebration of Scruggs’ remarkable life and contributions to the music world.

For sure Mike. I do personally consider Earl to be the all time mack daddy and originator of progressive bluegrass, but his contributions to American music as a whole really can't be overstated. And David Hoffman really did his homework for that film too.
His album (with the revue) Live at Kansas State is really a perfect example of this emerging style, all plugged in
Earl Scruggs and Friends (2001) is a real gem too
