Not bad overall, i watched

I love that Nugs is streaming so many Billy shows. I gladly pay the $13.00 a month membership just to watch his tours. It is becoming quite an enjoyable part of my life.  Love me some Billy Strings and have yet to see him live.  Nugs does a great job streaming these shows and I know it isn't even close to being there, but it is still so enjoyable.  Can't wait for tomorrows show.  Tonight was wonderful as always. Long live Billy MF Strings.

If I take all the notes he played tonight and devide that by our expenses of the weekend and I feel like we got a hell of a bargain

All Fall Down was the ticket to bliss tonight

very Les like

All Fall Down was mind blowing. I've never heard a guitar sound quite like that. To my ears it almost sounded like a human language coming out of that guitar with its effects and the way he was phasing the notes. Billy seems to always tuck in one or two mind numbing songs each show.  Not that all the other songs aren't also great.

From the couch, I thought the intro to Your Bird Can Sing was sublime.

Thought for sure they would of thrown Orange Blossom Special in there in the first set. I don't think that is the first all train set he has done, I remember him doing it once before, I think ?

I'm in for the first two nights of St. Augustine and can't wait!  I saw Billy there last year and while I did not know one song other than an Alice In Chains cover song, it was one of the best shows I have been to in 40+ years - no joke.  This year I am more familiar with the songs.  while its a hike from my home in S FL, the St. Aug amp has become my favorite venue in the state

Are you coming up for the shows Fabes?

Bobstar, let me know if you want to do a meet up in the lot, set break, or otherwise.  We are staying at a cabana out back of my parents' place in lighthouse park right on A1A (next door to Gypsy Cab) just a 20 minute walk to the gate.  We usually go up to the top level at the show for the view, sea breeze, and room to dance.  Saturday will be crazy and weather forecast says hot and sticky.

Agree that Billy and his boys are one of the best things going in live music right now.   Wonder if he will bring out that new lighting rig in St. Augsutine being its an outdoor show?

Sure I'd love to meet a fellow zoner!  Fri night we are up top with much better/closer seats Saturday.  Just there last month for TTB - love St. Aug

I wish I could join you again this year Ken.  Last year's 420 with Billy Strings was a lot of fun.
Party on!

Bobstar:   When are you guys getting into town?   Where are you parking for the show?

Ken, not going to make the shows this year, hope everyone enjoys it all.

At the show.  In one of our usual spots way up top.  302 MM. Sea breeze feels good and got a view of the lighthouse.

Well, that was more fun than a frog in a glass of milk.    Stayed more on the traditional bluegrassy side, but plenty of more electric stuff too.   ABB teases in the first set so not surprised by the Little Martha>Ramblin Man encore.   Was a bit on the warm side but got a perfect sunset.

The screen was about half size that he has been using for the indoor shows on this tour but tasteful and psychedelic.   Being up where we were, we happened to be among seven or so fans whose shadows were projected on the big top throughout the show.   Had to be bust out my best dance moves and we were giant doing shadow puppets.   Looking forward to more tonight.

Solid picking and no shortage of extended electric jams.  Personal favorites were Steam Powered Aereoplane (with Billy Failing on vocals) and the extra rocking Hide and Seek>Ride Me High>Hide and Seek closing out the second set.  Very enthusiastic crowd of dedicated Billy fans without the frat boy contingent we encountered down here last month for Panic.

So bummed I didn't make these shows but work called...

Thanks for the reports and pictures, Ken. Great setlist. ALWAYS love hearing John Hartford's songs. Some tasteful graphics. Great pic with Dickey, Mike. Wow, whattashow.

Tonight was the best of the three I thought.  So much jamming, wow!

Fri and Sat was so much fun!  incredible venue, the best crowd out there and such a sense of joy.  The lot was a scene and hassle free.  even danced with the volunteer ushers.  if haven't been to a show don't think just make it happen

Thunder>Heartbeat> schoolgirl who knows tease jam>Heartbeat was so hot

"Thunder>Heartbeat> schoolgirl who knows tease jam>Heartbeat was so hot" which show dise?

^^^^Sunday show.   Fucking sick.

It was a brain melt jam. I've heard him play Jimi but I don't think I've heard Billy quoting BOG before. Maybe he's thinking about adding a drummer since he teased Who Knows?

Expecting a Knights in White Satin cover next show

Billy don't need no drummer.  He commands the power of John Bonham in the skills of his string band.

Oh I agree but you know he's had a drummer sit in with his band before, right?

Yeah, he had Duane Trucks at the action packed Van Andel Scramble and for some portion of the Away from the Shire run the year before.

It is an interesting question whether this band would be any better with a drummer.  I'm thinking no, but like the fact that Billy does occasionally do gigs with a drummer. I've just gotten into this band since Alex Hargreaves joined them on fiddle.  I'd be interested in opinions of people who were into Billy when it was just a 4 piece and what you all think of that version compared to the current 5 piece.

I prefer the current lineup w/o a permanent drummer but now and then is fun. Hargreaves adds a lot of texture to the sound which I am all for. I liked the band's sound before he joined too.

Slightly off topic but Sierra Ferrell just recently added a drummer and some electric guitar to her live performances and the drummer is really subtle, mostly uses brushes.

Billy had a local KY guy sit in on a few songs today with brushes and snare. Heavy train beat. Red Daisy was incredible with that beat pushing it along. I think the guy has played with Sturgill Simpson. Those last two shows from Lexington KY were ripping good. They also paid tribute to Frank Wakefield doing a couple of his songs towards end of show.

Keep it only on special occasions. Keep the grass blue, there are enough rhythm instruments on the stage already

I'm thinking of the highly-rhythmic end section of the big jam near the end of Meet Me at the Creek from last night, and thought they brought it home just fine without a drummer.

Also, Ken's comment cracked me up, but that's just because I agree with him.
