Dave's Picks 49-Delivery Date?

Forums:

Anyone know when the 1st installment will be shipped? Getting psyched/

Tomorrow, per the Google machine:

Dave's Picks Vol. 49: Frost Amphitheatre, Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA (4/27/85 & 4/28/85) Availability: Pre-Order, released on: 01/26/2024.

I usually get a shipping notification a few days after it arrives

Mine came in today. Much sooner than they've been arriving the last couple of years.

Fishcane did you get the jeff norman dicks picks 2?

Is it everything I hope/want it to be?

So I own the initial run of digital chain sourced Dicks Picks on vinyl. I purchased the first new Norman release last year and quite honestly was underwhelmed with the difference between the digital cut and the OG remastered analog cut. Not sure if it was the remastering that caused my lackluster feeling or just not enough of an improvement but it was an expensive gamble for a record set that I don't visit often so with that in mind and owning a copy I'm happy enough with , I passed on this one. At some point, I have to tell myself that I'm buying the same music over n over with sometimes minimal improvements

I feel that. A man's got to have his limitations.

If #3 comes around I'll roll the dice tho :)

thx

I thought Jeffrey Norman has mastered all the Dicks Picks except Vol. 1?

You're right I'm not sure he was involved at all but either way, wasn't satisfied with minimal improvement on the reissue

He did. The new #2 vinyl release is remastered for vinyl from the master tapes

As CD (digital master) was the intended dicks picks set format back in 94/95;

The fir$t vinyl release on brookvale records was cut from the same digital files as the CD set.

fish's ears tell him the sonic differences between the two formats he owns in a similar situation are negligible

Now, in other circumstances, the difference between the cutting chains is a lot more obvious or pays larger dividends, making the investment worthwhile.

Meaty, beaty, big, and bouncy.  And very, very fast.

Jittery Jerry.  It was a great year to be a twenty year old and digging it.

I received mine and anxious to give it a listen. Memories of almost 40 years ago. I'm very happy to get both full shows but it's unfortunate the Scarlet -Eyes-//GDTR is split up. That transition was a very cool moment in GD music.

Great shows, awesome release

DSO is in town Thurs  @ Guild Theater in Menlo Park. They should re-create either  one of these shows...

^^^^^^^°^°^^

Or go super old school and recreate El Camino Park 6/1/67

> Scarlet -Eyes-//GDTR is split up

The transition between Eyes and GDTR is split over discs one and two, and the transition isn't a clean one. It fades out at the end of CD 1 with the opening riff of GDTR, but then CD 2 begins with a fade in of the last few bars of Eyes (again). I rip my CDs to FLACs and save them to a hard drive as soon as I get them, and then stream them from there, so I might need to do an edit to get that transition straightened out out.

I just placed an order for said product.  I fucking LOVE the 1985 sound of the BOARDS so I'm stoked on getting this one.

I love it when they put one of these out with shows I attended. Good to be back in that audio space at the Frost in that time long ago.

I too am excited for a different than typical year.
