updates on the Hopmomk shows?

I enjoyed the Wednesday night show. Jay fit in nicely with the band. Went to see the other Nelson Thursday night but heard solid reports about the Thursday night DNB show.

Well, Well...

We're in for Humboldt! Just can't resist a trip to the Redwoods...any camping recommendations nearby?

Hi Canyon,  I was looking at AirBnbs, as there are several within close walking distance to venue. However, the prices for most of them don't make sense for solo travelers.

I just called the funky Dean's Creek Campground / Mini Cabins + ((((Pool & Mini Golf )))))and waiting to hear back about availability of tent sites.

That seems to be the closest campground.. 36 minute walk to venue.

Will post here once I learn more.

Weather forecast looks solid for camping!

IMG_1691.jpeg

Meant to add: there will be 2 drummers! Jay and Wally !!

Thanks we will keep an eye on this thread. We just need somewhere to park the van, under some Redwoods preferably :) we'd be down to chip in for an Airbnb or whatevs. Mini golf sounds fun too...

they haven't called me yet but  posting websites...

funky and possibly fun:  www.deancreekresort.com

nearest big tree CSP campgrounds:

Benbow SRA, 13 min drive south   https://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=426

Hidden Springs, 18 min drive north.  https://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=425

Hilo stream?

Radio DNB?

Bumping for a link

Update on Deans Creek Campground linked above ^^^

  • Tent sites are $41 / night.
  • Sleeper cabins w/o bath are $91 / night
  • Larger cabins are around $140 / night
  • The "motel rooms" are creepy looking.
  • Sauna and mini-golf are open, pool / hot tub are not.

For similar price I can get an Airbnb suite w/ a nice kitchen, private bath, pool and hot tub that's a short walk to the venue.. and only shared w/ a couple other guests... I like my pool workouts.
If I must opt for tent camping, it'll be at one of the state campgrounds.

Was no stream tonight but Wiltsie hopes to do the last/next 3. Very solid show tonight.

Thanks for the Big Island update, Mark!

Hope you're enjoying the sunshine and fun.

Do you know what platform Wiltsie will use for streaming?

Thank you Zooey

lWho's got the backstory on this?  Just went to buy tickets for Mateel Cebter shows... and found this pic... but then Zooey found this fresh link  https://www.eventbrite.com/e/david-nelson-bandspecial-guest-jay-lane-the...

IMG_1697.jpeg

I just went out there and tickets are available for sale.

Yep and I just emailed with the Mateel promoter to make sure... all good... thanks Woz!

Anytime!

Another update on camping... On the Reserve California website, Benbow is showing as sold out for tent sites April 5-7... and no other close-by campgrounds are showing.  Maybe it's too early in season for these places...

Think I'll focus on AirBnB... If anyone needs a larger property, there's a 3-bdr / 6-person house w/ hot tub available on the river in Redway... let me know if you want the link.

Hey DNB fans,

If anyone is heading to Redway / Humboldt shows and needs lodging, check out this opportunity:

I found an AirBnb property that is a 13-min walk to the venue.

It has 2 separate listings, 1 is a Treehouse, which I intend to book, and the other is a 1BDR pool house suite w/ kitchen and small living room.  Between the 2 structures is a shared outdoor kitchen, in-ground heated pool, hot tub and mini-golf. Pets are allowed w/ fee. An extra air mattress is available for the pool house as 3 people are allowed.

Price range is around $145 per night and the added fees are reasonable.

Promoting it here because I thought it would be cool to have other Zoners on the property.

The owner of this property is also a professional cannabis farmer and offers farm tours for a fee!

My email is in profile if you like to receive a link to the listing.

About the shows, I've emailed with the promoter. The shows are a benefit for a local community nonprofit. There will be a community dinner prior to the show, which I think is a nice touch.  It is an all ages event, kids under 12 get in for free.

With the double drumming of Wally and Jay, I have a good feeling that these shows will be special!

Sounds like the ducks are lining up for some Humboldt DNB, can't wait to get back to the Redwoods. We will see you there...

quack quack...

any SF or Sonoma based enablers on the way up Friday w/ car space around noonish? Snoopy is telling me to visit.

and maybe south Sun?

We will have space in the van but there's are no seat belts in the back. Reach out if you need us...

Mendo Mulcher is the machine shop that made that

not sure if it was a one time thing or what

this one is about 15 ish years old I think, used excessively and still razor sharp

Thanks Canyon. I'll know more in a couple of days . Gracias.

i have a non DNB mendo mulcher but since I'm cheap, I got the one that doesn't screen.

Still works like the day I bought it.  15 -17 yrs ago yrs ago, I think. Probably bought at the same time BSS.

Yours looks a lot cleaner.

We are in!

Staying at the Hum. Redwoods Inn in G'ville.

See you all at the shows!

^^^^ Yay Surfdead!

Is it too early for a roll call?

I think not.

1. The Surfdeads - both shows.

Uh oh. Looks like our ducks have fallen out of line. Don't think this one is in the cards anymore. Have fun all. Hope to see y'all one of these days...:(

You win BSS. Don't have that one.

Pretty sure these came from the east coast trip when David had his accident but I just can't remember exactly

Bss, I commented because I thought you had done the engraving on the first one you posted.

Canyon, I spend a fair amount of time with my grandkids around the ducks across the street - it seems to be an illusion that they're in a line. They're tricky and have their own ways. Sorry you experienced this.

1. The Surfdeads - both shows.

2.  G.Fish - both nights

still fishin' for a ride from STS Fri afternoon.

i'm in!

1. The Surfdeads - both shows.

Been meaning to post this lodging list from the FB DNB group.

There are still a few AirBnB rooms available in Redway that are walking distance to venue.

Last night's show was epic and I got my fave song in 1st set, Garden of Eden.

David was in fine form.

Worth the trip.

2 drummers are better !

i also found my cellphone after losing it on the disc golf course yesterday.. my win for the day!

Onward to tonight.

Excellent Christine.  Enjoy round 2.

Glad you found your phone Christine! Sorry to have missed DNB but caught Sam Bush at Sweetwater last night and he was phenomenal. Dude makes it look so easy LOL!

Sweet ^^^
Just left Grants Pass, heading home.

Cosmic phone story: I had a dream early yesterday morning about the exact spot where I dropped my phone... drove back an hour to Eureka, walked the course and there it was at the spot I had dreamt about!

Last night's ' show went by too fast!  Great to see and dance with everyone..

..

We're back in Oregon.

Couple of fun shoes. I especially enjoyed the "Dark Star-ish" jam preceding the Other One tease.on night two.

Was a little doubtful about the two drummers, but it worked out fine. I'm liking Jay more with DNB than RD or Furthur.

Great seeing Mark, Turts, LOLLO, and the rest of the gang.

We were digging on all the ravens flying around Redway. I must've seen 50 in the sky all at the same time. I'm used to seeing only 1-4 at any one time.

Glad you're home safe, Surfdead.  Wasn't that a fun trip? We probably passed each other on the road north but I took several detours, one through Lorane Valley.

Agree about Lane w/ DNB.

If ravens make a door-knocking noise, I saw them too.  Maybe they liked the double drummers!

really good shows, especially the 2nd night.

great vibes, great venue, great friends. nice to see everyone!

quite a few missing regulars. I had a long  travel day yesterday...just woke up.

everyone was incredible, David seemed pretty on target mostly, and had some nice playing.

PETE SEARS.

think i would travel just as far to see him play by himself. he found a new bass to beat the shit outta. he's just incredible.

the drumming was good but man i miss molo as the engine.

thanks to the lovely hosts for such a nice party!

Pete Sears is right!  Mesmerizing to watch!

heres the updated setlist for 4-5-24 . enjoy
