Fani Willis takes the stand

Forums:

If there are any silver linings to Fani Willis taking the stand, one might be a more fully internalized and nuanced understanding of Judge McAfee and how he runs his courtroom.

The more I see of McAfee, the more I am impressed by his prowess at such a young age.

A defiant Fani kicked their ass. Don't think there's a way she loses this.

Trump trial gets scheduled in NY. Judge takes no crap.

FBI informant in Biden impeachment effort charged by the special counsel investigating Hunter with lying. Grassley and Comer will be crying.

Pretty decent day on the legal front.

too  bad she couldn't keep her dick in her pants.

I thought Ms. Willis came across as an extremely honest and moral person. Her reputation is under full frontal assault and she decided that the truth told publicly was the best way to counter this attack on her. This woman has been under constant physical threat since taking on Trump and I imagine it will only get worse if she actually gets to prosecute the guy. I thought it quite brave to be willing to put her private life into the public record. She earned my respect today.  Riveting few hours of high drama today in a Georgia courtroom.  Just hope we get to see Trump in that same courtroom soon.

I think she held up well, but the whole thing was still a bummer to me because the SLEAZE factor with this fucking Trump legal team is beyond grotesque. These people need to be flushed back down into the fucking sewer where they belong. Decisively. Trump and his entire team are nothing but filth and slime. It's exhausting because they just never let up. Fuck these people.

what's wrong with a strong black woman vigorously defending her privacy and personal life

when being attacked by a disingenuous smear campaign

I'm not sure if it was your intent, but what you said comes off as classic Jim Crow trope

sadly inherent racism is deeply rooted in American society

hey, fuck off!

its not anything to do with her race you dumbass.

it's being a prosecutor of one of the biggest threats to democracy in our lifetimes...maybe should have been smarter about it and not given them the opportunity to make it look bad...

^ maybe you should of led with that

2 things can be true at once

but you led with a Jim Crow era trope

who's the dumbass, lol

Donald trump tried to steal the election in georgia

That's what this is (still) about

focusing the lens on her personal conduct can only hurt his prosecution, no matter what she did or didn't do or disclose

she and the other guy should resign so this thing still has a chance to stay between the lines

After watching her on the stand yesterday, I believe she will be successful in her prosecution of Trump. No way she should step aside.  I don't see where she did anything wrong. Her ex-boyfriend should step aside just so this sideshow can calm down.  Ms. Willis showed me yesterday that she is the right person to prosecute Trump down there in Georgia.

This hearing is about whether willis benefited financially through wade

the Rico defendants accuse her of inappropriately funneling state funds, through wade to herself

which they have not yet proven

yes, it could be seen through the public eye that the relationship wasn't  appropriate, but under Georgia law it's not disqualifing

was it stupid, yes

just remember she's not the one on trial

trump and his minions are

I agree that this whole sideshow about Willis and Wade is EXACTLY what helps Trump and it is exactly what we didn't need. Unfortunately there was a personal relationship there that gives the Trump Sleaze Team exactly what they want as a distraction. It's just a damn shame that it happened. This case in Georgia needed to be air tight. It may still be on track, but maybe not, and it is certainly no longer air tight. And that part of it sucks. This should not have come up. The fact that people are now focused on Willis, even if temporarily, is nothing but a victory for the Orange Scumbag. It just sucks. Willis and Wade would have been better off not knowing each other, bottom line.

If she resigns the case lives and goes forward with a new prosecutor, doesn't skip a beat

If she doesn't, the judge can effectively throw out the whole thing by disqualifying the entire DA's office

Not worth jeopardizing the public interest in the entire case to prove a personal point no matter how "technically" right it may be

bottom line is the RICO case is airtight

all trump and his minions have is delay, deflect and distract

good thing there's a judge involved, because court of public opinion don't enforce the rule of law

that being said, this stunt won't move the needle for him

but, the horse race will have you riveted

>>bottom line is the RICO case is airtight<<

exactly why you don't let it die on this hill

bss, shit will not move and there will be no beat,

good ol boy southern politics move to a beat of a different drum

if willis is removed... it will go into republican hands to appoint a new prosecutor and that's where it will die

example

summer '22 a Georgia judge blocked willis from investigating a republican state senator (1 of 16 fake electors)

as part of this RICO case.

the republican was then running for Lt. governor and willis had hosted a fundraiser for his opponent.

18 months later, still no investigator, prosecutor, or case.

>>> If she resigns the case lives and goes forward with a new prosecutor, doesn't skip a beat

No it will have to pretty much start over from scratch not to mention who wants that kind of scrutiny. She originally reached out to him after a bunch of other lawyers turned her down for exactly this reason. This is how fascists operate and crush anyone trying to hold them accountable.

This is also a classic example of how the left is held to an impossible standard of being perfect in every aspect of their life and no one on the right or in the media is even suggesting that Trump be disqualified for fucking a porn star right after his third wife gave birth in a quid pro quo for getting her on his show and then paid hush money with campaign funds to cover it up.

In short, this Willis/Wade story does not help the situation. It just sucks that it happened. And yes, Willis should step aside in the greater interest of keeping the case going. I don't personally think Willis did anything wrong and I think she's a formidable DA, but the Sleaze Team is having a field day with this, and it doesn't help.

This is Trump's dream come true: all the new outlets are showing all this testimony from Black people being questioned about their sexual and financial affairs. Trump is LOVING every minute of this.

when you go after people with basically unlimited resources you have to be right every. single. time.

doubly so when there is a clock ticking

for her to bring the guy she was screwing into the fold was an incredibly unbelievably amazingly terrible decision (was it not???)

its not about "the left" vs an impossible standard, it's about personal restraint. and discretion. she opened the window.

now trump is gonna drag her shit all thru it, damn the torpedoes

I don't make the rules but I do know how they work

Mice is 100% Correct. You cannot fuck this up. Willis and Wade fucked this up, because this game needs to be air tight and now it's not. And it sucks.

And the added bonus for Trump is that these people on the stand are BLACK. Trump loves that. It absolutely suits his agenda with his white racist cult followers. The fact that the court is currently grilling these BLACK people under a microscope on national TV is a wet dream for Trump. This is a win for him every moment the cameras are rolling on this shit.

Very unfortunate.

>> for her to bring the guy she was screwing into the fold was an incredibly unbelievably amazingly terrible decision (was it not???) <<

I don't care who fucks who

that being said

According to willis and wade the fucking didn't begin until months after wade was hired as special prosecutor

so she didn't bring her fuck buddy into the fold

^ the shit you insist on arguing is precisely the distraction, tod

think about it

It's true. The whole issue is nothing but a sideshow that helps Trump.

The fact that they're Black, and in the state of Georgia, also helps Trump.

It just sucks. We didn't need to be having this shit dominating the news.

I'm not arguing shit, they're facts, not distraction

the distraction is people who spew non-factual shit and choose die on that hill

>>the distraction is people who spew non-factual shit and choose die on that hill<<

the actual fact is that neither of us knows who fucked who, or when, but somehow it's still dominating this thread...

you think she should fight the good fight and defend her name

I think that's a strategic and legal misstep for the people of georgia, and personally a selfish course of action for her

we'll see

and your right cup, that's why the judge should sanction the trump co-conspirator lawyers

which they claimed they had evidence of a money funneling scheme between wade and willis

that's what the hearing, not a trial is about

all they've tried to do is drag her through the mud, that will not gain any new votes for trump

so again, distract, deflect, and delay is the trump way

this is the political oppo researcher hit man , who filed the motion for this hearing

Mike Roman

Michael Roman is an American political operative and opposition researcher Roman was a staffer for President from 2017 to 2018. He subsequently worked for the Trump 2020 campaign as director of election day operations.

Prior to working for Trump, Roman ran an in-house intelligence unit for the
Koch brothers

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Roman

The extraordinary developments were sparked by a motion from defendant Mike to disqualify Willis and her
office from the case. One sign of how seriously the judge is taking the issue: he has set aside Thursday and Friday for testimony and arguments.

https://www.ajc.com/politics/judge-okays-hearing-to-examine-relationship...

This has been nothing more than attempt to smear and embarrass a powerful black women in front of the nation

his goal is to have her step down, in order to kill the case

fact

thanks for zonasplaining the premise of my point much more eloquently bss.

However, one possible good result of this is that in the state of GEORGIA, and elsewhere in the nation, I can see this Willis-bashing as motivating and focusing the Black voter turnout against Trump in the election. Where there might have been an enthusiasm dip before now, this will change that.

Every lawyer I've heard talk about this stated that if Willis steps down the case is as good as dead. The case doesn't simply go to another prosecutor.  In Georgia, trials (and Hearings) are televised and all this current scuttlebutt will be forgotten when Willis prosecutes this guy.  No way this judge disqualifies her after yesterdays testimony.  Cherry picked clips may make her look bad, but the judge saw the whole of her testimony and it was a good day for Ms. Willis imo. This sideshow will be behind us in a couple weeks and then the public can have the pleasure of watching this Trump trial in real time from the comfort of their living rooms.  Mr. Wade should step down immediately in order that this sideshow bullshit will die down sooner rather than later.

Trumps doesn't have the facts on his side so he will just dial up the sideshow shit once the trail starts, since that is his modus operandi. Most of America will be horrified by the facts and doubly horrified by Trump's behavior.  Of course those in the cult of Trump will still worship him, but I'm thinking that is maybe 20 or 30  million people.  No way Trump gets even close to the 75,000,000 votes he got in 2020 after this televised trial.  Many people tend to recoil and retreat from Trump when he attacks them.  Trump has been used to this his whole life and why he gets away with so much illegal and amoral shit.  I don't see Ms. Willis backing down.   From what I saw yesterday this woman is sharp as a tack and tough as nails.    It will be poetic justice indeed if a black woman is the one who finally takes Trump down.

Get behind this woman, she needs all the backers she can get.  I don't give two f'ks who she sleeps with and neither does this court.  The Trump porn star case may get a conviction, but most people don't care who Trump has sex with.   We crossed that bridge a long time ago.  The issue here was Trump's team claiming financial gain for Ms. Willis and/or Mr. Wade by the fact of Ms. Willis hiring him. Hence a supposed conflict of interest for this prosecutor to prosecute just to keep the money flowing.   The Trump team has no evidence relating to financial gain for either of these two and hence this judge is not going to toss Ms. Willis aside.   This case is one of the two biggies, the other the Jack Smith case.   Most people don't care who sleeps with who as long as both are consenting adults.  But most people aren't ok with vote stealing or attempted vote stealing. Lets just pull up the television and watch Ms. Willis prosecute Mr. Trump.  It won't go well for Trump, but to quote a famous cult leader  "it will be wild."

Skin of her teeth

two months completely wasted

The core of judge mcafee's decision can be found on page 17

https://www.scribd.com/document/713598359/Judge-rules-Fani-Willis-can-ei...

an odor of mendacity remains...reasonable questions about whether the District Attorney and her hand-selected lead SADA testified untruthfully about the timing of their relationship further underpin the finding of an appearance of impropriety and the need to make proportional efforts to cure it.

Sounds like grounds for an appeal by the Defendants.

I think the judge got it as correct as he possibly could

and I think the same about his earlier ruling this week dismissing a few of the defendant's charges

and yes, part of that means the people's case is now on much thinner ice than it started out on

choices

> I think the judge got it as correct as he possibly could

Agreed, and the resolution—either Wade or Willis has to go—seems to address the concerns of both sides of the case in something like a balanced fashion.

I have to wonder though if it might be best for Willis to step down because she carries that "odor of mendacity" to Georgia v. Trump, et al itself. That will almost certainly lead to delays though, but since this is a State case, not Federal, maybe the timing is not as important as in the DOJ's cases.

i stand by my original post.
