Middle East

Forums:

So the US is about to open a can of whoop ass on Iranian proxies in Syria and probably the Iranian Revolutionary Guard too.

I understand why the Navy needs to keep a check on Houthi pirates, but otherwise what's the reason for this again?

To shoot big guns.

Recruit drop outs.

Recruit drop outs.

recruit poor folks, mostly of color

fixed that

War = Reelection

It'd be sweet if the only Middle East we ever had to concern ourselves with was the New Jersey / Virginia area.

I'm guessing this is your precipitating event, Ken:

I have no idea what the administration's goals are, but the military doesn't recruit dropouts. One has to have a diploma or GED.

The Navy said Friday that it will allow those without a high school diploma to enlist as long as they score a 50 or higher on the Armed Forces Qualification Test that all prospects must take, the latest move to boost recruitment in the face of an historic recruiting crisis reverberating across the services.

This was a response to the US strike last week on Khataib near Baghdad which killed 2.  Tit for tat...

Time to pack up and leave that shit hole.

For real

we've got hundreds/thousands chewing dirt in every middle eastern country except Yemen and Iran I think

and that's not including thousands of shipborne personnel in the eastern Mediterranean, the Persian gulf, Red Sea, and the gulf of Aden

exxon says No.

Navy tea leaf reading...

what next?

and don't tell me we're in a proxy war, cuz duh

As of September 2022, there are 171,736 active-duty military troops across 178 countries. Our troops are everywhere.

^ and...?

Now for some context this doesn't literally mean the Navy is going to start enlisting "dropouts". At least not in the colloquial sense. It means the Chief of Naval personnel will consider waiving this single requirement provided the applicant is otherwise fully qualified.

So if you know someone of enlistment age with less than a twelfth grade education, who can also score at or above the 50th percentile of testers, doesn't have any criminal record, doesn't have any kinds of medical conditions, injuries/surgeries, or take daily medications, doesn't have any kids, isn't on the threshold of bankruptcy, can pass a national agency screening, isn't overweight (or underweight), AND also happens to want to join the Navy

Well then, congratulations because you've met a real life unicorn

It's tough to get out in front of primitive thinking and instincts when you have the mob in tow.
