Neuroscientists decode song from brain recordings

Forums:

Neuroscientists recorded electrical activity from areas of the brain (yellow and red dots) as patients listened to the Pink Floyd song, “Another Brick in the Wall, Part 1.” Using artificial intelligence software, they were able to reconstruct the song from the brain recordings. This is the first time a song has been reconstructed from intracranial electroencephalography recordings

trippy

Next we will see electrical activity in the brain from left to right or right to left when "On The Run" is being listened to from Dark Side of the Moon.

Maybe we'll soon see the colors in the air from the musical notes.

Finally.

The phrase "All in all it was just a brick in the wall" comes through recognizably in the reconstructed song, its rhythms intact, and the words muddy, but decipherable.

An article I read about this the other day didn't use the word "muddy", but instead said it sounded like it was underwater, and that sounded pretty darn cool to me.
