Parking Lot Bands

Forums:

We are going to down to St. Augustine in March for Widespread Panic and to see the folks and was checking the local music listings.   Saw that there was a local GD cover band called "One Good Ring" and they say they are playing the St. Augustine Amphitheater (where WSP is playing) each afternoon before the show.   However, the venue's website doesn't mention them and the doors don't open until well into the local band's set, which tells me they are just going to setup in the lot.

I have seen a couple really good bands in the lot.  One that comes to mind was at Autzen in either 93 or 94.  Really psychedelic space rock band playing on a flat bed truck.  Best part was they were slinging balloons from the back of the truck and their weird music was perfect for the gas.   JRAD at the LA Greek in October had a good GD band playing the parking lot too.

Have you all seen some memorable parking lot acts?

Cool video and those cats can play.  Cop was nice enough to let them finish the jam before shutting it down.

Giants Stadium '95 night 2.  Unkle Funkle kicked ass in the lot.  Keys player seemed to have the most chops.  A fine Shakedown on the shakedown.

Reading the header immediately conjured up images of Heavy Metal Parking Lot -

Such a timestamp although this might not be the audience for it, it's well worth a viewing [15 minutes]

Seems like there's always at least 2 or 3 going in the lot at Dicks for Phish.

High Sierra Festival used to have some good "unofficially sanctioned" acts playing in the various campgrounds. Electric bands with little PAs. I think I have an ALO handbill from maybe 25 years ago when they were still Animal Liberation Orchestra and relatively unknown, set up on the grass in front of some cars, playing for passersby.
