Stanley Jordan? Really. He identifies as a he, and clothes do not define the man.

so far, cant's find Susan Tedeschi listed other than a sit-in

Tim,  unless your wife got paid with a grilled cheese sandwich or something, that doesn't count.

I pay her well with psychedelics and good lovin

Judit, I just read an old quote where he said he was bringing both poles of the human spirit (or something like that) to the 2 night run. So we'll have to leave that in a gray area for now, hence the *

The list is so short currently it needs some padding (no pun intended).

^ SJ: "...I love being called a jazz artist. I would just add that 'jazz artist' isn't enough to fully say what I do. It doesn't say anything about improvising or putting my personal stamp on the music. That's the same with who I am as a person. Calling me a guy is fine, but it doesn't resonate completely with who I am. Besides, even the word 'trans' is in flux. I don't have a word for what I am, save to say, that the traditional box of maleness and masculinity didn't work for me."

Thanks, Alan, that was helpful, clarifying, even in flux.

Do you remember the old Fluxus art movement?

>Do you remember the old Fluxus art movement?<

I had to look it up. Learn something new everyday. Sounds right up my alley. Thanks.

"Emerging in the 1960s and operating globally, Fluxus was an interdisciplinary and experimental approach to art that emphasized blending different artistic media and breaking down traditional boundaries between art and everyday life. Fluxus artists encouraged a playful and open-minded approach to art-making, creating a wide range of unconventional works, often using ordinary objects and actions to challenge traditional notions of art and engage audiences in interactive experiences. George Maciunas, the primary founder and organizer of the movement, described Fluxus as, "a fusion of Spike Jones, gags, games, Vaudeville, Cage and Duchamp"."https://www.theartstory.org/movement/fluxus/

There was a small store on Sunset Blvd. in the mid-sixties of Fluxus stuff by many artists, with many ideas. I used to go in and check things out, hang out, I can't remember buying anything. I was teaching at a small school and getting paid in gas for my car and $70/mo, so not a lot of money to spend on someone else's art.
My memory is that there were items by Yoko Ono, lots of rubber stamp artists, assemblages, stuff that was exciting to me.

I just Googled Fluxus art - it was definitely Dada, fun, light, heavy, so many different streams... I loved it.

^ alright alright, but technically so far she's not an official "Friend" -- i.e., she never was listed on a poster listed as such. Phil never hired her.

Let's call her "Friendly" --- hell, there's plenty of astericks to go around...

  1. Donna Jean Godchaux
  2. Amy Helm
  3. Nikki Bluhm
  4. Joan Osborne
  5. Elliott Peck
  6. Holly Bowling
  7. Jennifer Hartswick
  8. Natalie Cressman
  9. Mikaela Davis
  10. Teresa Williams
  11. Jaclyn LaBranch
  12. Gloria Jones
  13. Zoe Ellis
  14. Katie Jacoby
  15. Jeanette Ferber
  16. Stanley Jordan* - that counts as a partial, I guess (no boobs)
  17. Sunshine Becker** - maybe not technically a "Friend"? but on "Phil's" payroll for a while
  18. Susan Tedeschi*** - valued cohort (has boobs), so she's on the list!

Florence, and a gal I know from Seattle.

What about Jeff Pehrson, a.k.a. "Fat Donna"?

Dave you'd better hightail back East and clean up this coffee I just spit all over the carpet. Darn you. (You know the weight jokes are not appreciated around here.)

And I'm not putting him on the list cause it just confuses the whole boob/ no boob criteria.

Well, with the dearth of ladies on this list, one can only surmise 3 things:

1. Pay disparity is alive and well in the Lesh-related jamband world and word has spread throughout the female musician community.

2. Jill is insanely jealous of any woman being around her hubby.

3. There's often pee on the toilet seat backstage, and that's a dealbreaker.

Rusty, when you listed Florence, were you talking about Rosie?
