A Very Sad Day In The World. Alexey Navalny Is Dead.

Forums:

A special encore of "CNN Films: Navalny" will air on CNN US on Saturday, February 17 at 9 p.m. ET. This is an incredible film.

One of the bravest activists the world has ever known. Such an inspiration. Half expected eventually, but still heartbreaking. Hopefully we'll let Alexey Navalny live on in our hearts.

“My message for the situation when I am killed is very simple: not give up,” Navalny said.

Yulia Navalny today in Munich at the summit:

“I thought about it quite a while. I thought, 'Should I stand here before you, or should I go back to my children?' And then I thought: 'What would Alexey have done in my place?' And I’m sure he would have been standing here on this stage,” she said.

“I would like to call upon all the international community – all the people in the world. We should come together, and we should fight against this evil. We should fight this horrific regime in Russia today. This regime, and Vladimir Putin, should be personally held responsible for all the atrocities they have committed in our country.”

I'll share my song for the people of Ukraine and Russia I did a couple of years ago. Russian subtitles for Russians who got to see it. Got into quite a few countries throughout Europe.

“I’ve got something very obvious to tell you. You’re not allowed to give up,” Navalny said. “If they decide to kill me, it means that we are incredibly strong. We need to utilize this power, to not give up, to remember we are a huge power that is being oppressed by these bad dudes."

What courage looks like:

Not surprised one bit.  Fuck Putin.

R.I.P. Alexei Navalny.  May your sacrifice inspire an uprising against the tyrant.

Double fuck Putin.

Rest in Peace Comrade

Alexei Navalny was very optimistic person. An odd mind-set for a Russian politician opposing Putin. He was doomed once convicted of corruption. In the end he served Putin well with the upcoming election as an example of what happens to those who oppose him.

I saw yesterday that Navalny was for the war in Ukraine but criticized Putin's poor execution of the invasion.

Has Trump commented on Navalny's demise?

Not true. Where did you "see that?"

Maria Pevchikh, who heads Navalny’s investigative team and helped winkle out his would-be assassins, says the war in Ukraine – which Navalny has condemned from his prison cell behind bars – will bring Putin down. The question, she says, is whether Navalny can survive Putin. “It’s a bit of a race. You know, at this point, who lasts longer?”

As bad Putin is and his culpability in this, I almost blame the GOP in the US more for allowing themselves to becomes Putin's zombified extension across the pond that has emboldened him.

man, putin needs to be stopped

Navalny was close to being freed in prisoner swap between Russia and West, ally says

Summary

Talks to free Navalny were in final stages - ally

Idea was to swap him for a Russian hitman in German jail

Two U.S. nationals held in Russia were part of same talks

Russian source says Navalny and wife had agreed to it

No official confirmation of purported deal

>>>man, putin needs to be stopped

For MANY reasons. Can't SOMEONE take that SOB out? And what about those illnesses that were reported a few years ago? BS propaganda?

But I'm surprised. I find it hard to believe Putin would allow a release of his amazing and charismatic opposition leader right before an election. I don't think he's that confident. People in Russia are awake, especially relatives of the 300,000 or so dead soldiers. Those rallies years ago were massive.

Puting would probably would lock Alexei up again right after the first rally.

Reading the new book "The Showman" about Zelensky. Zelensky was ready to give up a LOT for peace early on. Good book.

I hope to see this pic in real life someday...

Putin Dead.jpg

he doesn't have to worry about elections anymore, he's king

I also think it's part of the putin terrorizing playbook

there is supposed to be a public funeral for navalny sometime this week

which pootie warned against

this recent info of talks about his release will prolly bring out even more people to the funeral

and putin will be arresting and making them fight against ukraine instead of prison

We need to do memorial protests across America this Saturday.

Hard to believe the proposed swap would have ever happened.  3 for 1?  The most prominent Kremlin critic and two valuable American prisoners to be used as bargaining chips for one hitman?  Does not compute.

If freed, Navalny would more likely have remained outside of Russia, to better be a figurehead for the opposition.  If he had returned to Russia, Putin would have had him imprisoned again, or simply eliminated him.

This story sounds like wishful thinking.

The reality is that Putin viewed Navalny as a threat, and had him eliminated, just like Prigozhin.

What an amazing courageous group of Russian citizens standing up to Putin today. So impressive.

Did ya hear? Alexei had them play Frank Sinatra singing "My Way" as they lowered his body into the grave. Dedicated heroic activist who wouldn't let Putin destroy his sense of humor. Wow.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-68450219  Check out the video.

They also played music from Terminator 2 at his request.

Yeah, from what I heard, it may have been the music played as Arnold was going down but was giving a thumbs up as he went down. I'm not sure. Never saw the movie. Not sure of this story.

With all of Putin's rhetoric about launching nukes if he can't have his way with Ukraine, consequences be damned, I fear that the world is facing an even sadder day.  He just might be mad enough to do it.

Judit - Never saw the Terminator scene before, but this story has the video containing the music Alexei requested that was played while Arnold went down giving a thumbs up. https://post.news/@/Damon_Gee/2d6PJyUEVeP2ph3jMuaKhOsCfmf   You may have to copy and paste this link.

"Evidence of Navalny's Sardonic sense of humor, Navalny requested the music from the final scene from Terminator 2 be played by an orchestra, as he was lowered into the ground. (His wishes were honored)."
