Everything was prepaid & I had tickets to all shows so I was not gonna miss out. Those were the days when I could "Party Myself Better" and get away with it . . .
Yep, just got back from south Florida and even got roped into visiting an "establishment" restaurant with my dad ... Joe's Stone Crab.

You clearly don't have the right picture. I almost always enjoy the "ride" ... and like sitting by the window seat to check things out. This was the first time I used an odometer app to gauge speed and elevation (while there's a signal).
However, I almost had a "Ralph Nader moment" after nearly missing a connection in Dallas due to our plane sitting for close to 20 minutes just outside the gate ... because there they had to locate a crew to direct the plane to the gate ... as if it was a mystery to them that we were due to arrive.
150 passengers x 20 minutes = 3,000 cumulative minutes STOLEN by American Airlines
Definitely not feeling the greatest, but hard to tell if it's anything to worry about at this point ... since it was a very long day traveling & didn't sleep well the night before.
Part of the problem is that I almost always need to drive nearly two hours to get to a commuter airport (Durango in this case), then make another connection ... 4 hour layover didn't help matters.
Have heard the flu this year is really nasty, just can't imagine how anyone would get on a plane in the midst of it, but ...

On the whole it worked out for me personally, but a lot of it was luck ... middle seat was open on leg from Dallas to Ft. Lauderdale and wound up in exit row with nobody next to me on way back from Dallas to Durango. So, was in a better mood to roll with the punches ... although couldn't help but observe / note how the minor fiasco's that people accept these days as being "normal" part of flying. Even caught myself "hovering" by the gate to be the first in my boarding group ... so as not to be forced to contend with my carry on.
I don't like to tell anyone WHEN I'm traveling and believe the credit card companies and banks are off totally off base to shut down a card without prior notification of travel plans. Total BS if you ask me.

Sure- definitely logical. I provide demonstrations to large groups of healthcare workers and there's a lot of moving parts that fall into place for me to get to site and do my thing. I really don't want to play my sick card for a cough and sniffles... it would create a headache for everyone involved with the scheduling, coordination and participation of my demos.

Yet at the same time, being next to a sick person might be a death sentence to the young/old or those with compromised immune systems and when it comes down to it, being next to a sick person is FAR worse than someone who's unable to fit in their seat IMO ... even though the argument could be made there's more of a physical "encroachment" issue related to the latter.
Assuming it's simply a matter of time before the traveling public is able to be efficiently and non-invasively scanned for infectious diseases (in addition to prohibited items), will the airlines support or will they stall / stonewall such measures? ... since it would ultimately be an impediment / issue in so far as maintaining their margins?

I believe "seem" is the operative word. It's one of those things that falls into the camp of "fuzzy science" at this period in time; however, it doesn't really take all that much imagination to look to future developments with respect to machines that will be able to detect infectious diseases in real time. I wouldn't be surprised to learn of some form of crude devices already in existence in the realm of bio-weaponry research & development.
Perhaps such devices will put an end to forced vaccinations for children attending public schools.

I suppose it's possible, but how do you explain the MASSIVE de-regulation that's currently occurring across the board in our country? Are you suggesting that private enterprise is behind some sort of firewall that is unable to influence regulation, or the lack thereof?
(However, I have wondered if the gastro charges more for colonoscopies because it's known that x percentage of patients will fail to complete the "prep")

Last year when I was flying
Last year when I was flying back home, NY to SF, I had the only empty seat on the entire plane
next to me. Which was great luck because the guy on the isle seat coughed pretty much the entire
5+ hour flight. I drank vodka most of the way and prayed that might help kill the germs.
Didnt get sick. Felt like a miracle.
