Heard, then saw one drop dead after hitting a high window yesterday. Probably at least 2 per year x 49 years = about 100 birds and this is likely a very low estimate.
Didn't bother to pick up the bird, almost never do ... another animals always figure it out. So, it's often out of sight out of mind.

We've just obtained a ruling from the judges: no, that does not count ... unless said bat was killed by "accident"?

Good question. Our two outdoor cats are murderous beasts, responsible for far more deaths than whatever flight hazard our home represents.

Wouldn't a more parallel question be something along the lines of: how many bugs have died because of you riding in vehicles?

Yes, the judges have allowed this as well, but have said it's "drifting" slightly ... although have made provisions to include creatures other than birds (rodents, etc) that have died as a result of resident felines.

Speaking of birds and homes,
Speaking of birds and homes, has anyone else had the joy of being woken up at the crack of dawn on a weekend by a woodpecker pecking away at your metal chimney cap? I used to have a basketball that I would throw up there every time that damn woodpecker would start in on that.
