Is Big Bird a Child or an Adult?

Forums:

It's clear that many of the characters on Sesame Street are children (Elmo, for example); but I'm kinda confused about Big Bird.

Is Big Bird a child or an adult?

A scary like adult.

I think Bert drank a bit a didn't like kids

You guys don't get Ren & Stimpy or Courage the Cowardly Dog?

I find it just a little odd that you're thinking about a thing like that Mark.

Your skepticism is understandable here, Lance. It's definitely a strange question.

The thing is, being a father inevitably means watching some children's programming, and Sesame Street is pretty popular in our house right now.

Big Bird acts like an adult character, but carries around a teddy bear. It's kinda unnerving.

Androgynous tween?

Big Bird is a child. A six year old to be precise. Let’s have some respect. The thing is a god-damned living legend.

What about Snuffy?

Nice vid Daylight....

^I thought that he was Big Bird's imaginary friend.  So I assume that he's about the same age.

Cool things - google and wikipedia.

I see big bird in the same light as Peter Pan, a non harmful stunted growth unich that is harmless to children

That was my take, Fabes; but apparently he's a six year old giant canary?

6 yo? that would explain the way he dresses. But I'm no expert.

Elmo's "1, 2 3, Count With Me" is worth a spin. Counting Crows make an appearance (but not the human Counting Crows).

What about Snuffy?<<<

That's Mr. Snuffleupagus to you.

And if she/he is a "Mr.", and a contemporary of Big Bird, wouldn't that entail the latter being an "adult"?

Likewise, doesn't Mr. Snuffleupagus always refer to him as just "Bird"? (in support of him being a contemporary)

Snuffy is as unreal as TulsaChris. Vorty knows...

One note on the current seasons of Sesame Street- Grover has a significantly diminished role.

I bet he's difficult to work with.

He's no grouch.

Maybe he's a "Grup".
