It's clear that many of the characters on Sesame Street are children (Elmo, for example); but I'm kinda confused about Big Bird.
Is Big Bird a child or an adult?

I find it just a little odd that you're thinking about a thing like that Mark.

Your skepticism is understandable here, Lance. It's definitely a strange question.
The thing is, being a father inevitably means watching some children's programming, and Sesame Street is pretty popular in our house right now.
Big Bird acts like an adult character, but carries around a teddy bear. It's kinda unnerving.

Big Bird is a child. A six year old to be precise. Let’s have some respect. The thing is a god-damned living legend.

Elmo's "1, 2 3, Count With Me" is worth a spin. Counting Crows make an appearance (but not the human Counting Crows).

What about Snuffy?<<<
That's Mr. Snuffleupagus to you.
And if she/he is a "Mr.", and a contemporary of Big Bird, wouldn't that entail the latter being an "adult"?
Likewise, doesn't Mr. Snuffleupagus always refer to him as just "Bird"? (in support of him being a contemporary)

One note on the current seasons of Sesame Street- Grover has a significantly diminished role.
I bet he's difficult to work with.
