Attended a Jackson Browne show recently and Shane Fontayne (guitar) and Greg Leisz (guitar, lap steel, pedal steel) had some stuff goin' on. Alternately dueling, and then harmonizing ala ABB.
I'm never one to say "This is the BEST ____ ever!" because who the hell am I to make such a declaration? Besides, music is such a subjective thing.
I LOVE this video from '13. It's Max Creek w/ Tim Palmieri... Scott and Tim have a very spirited guitar duel and start exchanging licks; egging each other on:
I like to describe Scott as an old muscle car with raw POWER and Tim as a newer, fancier sports car with all the bells and whistles. Both awesome in their own right. Hope you enjoy.
My top pick in recent memory that I saw is without a doubt Michael Landau and Jimmy Herring go at it song after song with The Ringers. I saw all of the famous old bands from the 70's including all of the Southern Rock bands. This Ringers show that I saw in Denver was an amazing display that I put up there with anything I've ever seen.
In general, I prefer those who dual to lend harmonization (while either in forefront or background) in a meaningful way vs. all out "competition of one upping".
