Best dueling guitars ever

Forums:

I would put my money on Steve Hunter's and Dick Wagner's performance on Lou Reed's Rock and Roll Animal...especially Sweet Jane.

Thin Lizzy. Pick a song or album. Their influence in the guitar world is way too under rated.

Steve Vai vs Ralph Macchio

Certainly better than the Family Band version.  cheeky

The Allman Brothers

Attended a Jackson Browne show recently and Shane Fontayne (guitar) and Greg Leisz (guitar, lap steel, pedal steel) had some stuff goin' on. Alternately dueling, and then harmonizing ala ABB.

Dueling guitars?   Well that's pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd

I'm never one to say "This is the BEST ____ ever!" because who the hell am I to make such a declaration?  Besides, music is such a subjective thing.

I LOVE this video from '13.  It's Max Creek w/ Tim Palmieri... Scott and Tim have a very spirited guitar duel and start exchanging licks; egging each other on:

Soooo good.

I like to describe Scott as an old muscle car with raw POWER and Tim as a newer, fancier sports car with all the bells and whistles.  Both awesome in their own right.  Hope you enjoy.

Back in the day the Outlaws got a few good guitar duels going.

I love that Lou Reed live album, the intro is dueling, still fresh

lets just call this dual guitars

Anyone ever defeat El Kabong?

Stephen Stills and Eric Clapton 'Go Back Home' 1970 from Stills' first solo album.

The jam at the end is fireworks.

Carlos Santana and George Benson

Breezin’

Hopefully it hasn't happened yet !

But I do love it when two exemplary guitar slingers "step to the plate "and the sword fight is on...

competition and cooperation and raw energy ensue

and it can fucking kick ass

My top pick in recent memory that I saw is without a doubt Michael Landau and Jimmy Herring go at it song after song with The Ringers.  I saw all of the famous old bands from the 70's including all of the Southern Rock bands. This Ringers show that I saw in Denver was an amazing display that I put up there with anything I've ever seen.

Nothing better than Duane and Dickey on Elizabeth Reed. Just sayin’.

That Sweet Jane is great no doubt!

Heron Oblivion is amazing double guitars, I was at this show. Actually I was in one of the opening bands

This entire album is some pretty schnazzy dueling guitars (as seen on another post)

In general, I prefer those who dual to lend harmonization (while either in forefront or background) in a meaningful way vs. all out "competition of one upping".

Dueling guitars suck. Just my opinion
