Summertime
And the livin' is easy

All around, people looking half dead
Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head

But at night it's a different world
Go out and find a girl
Come on, come on and dance all night
Despite the heat it'll be alright

Not much fun working and living in a greenhouse you can't step out of.

Good advice in this thread!
Joe I had to take my girls outside the greenhouse and they  are still heat wilting

Another one today

Going to Giants Stadium to see Elton in 99* weather while all my other friends are heading to Phish in Hartford

Got a new weather alert today for ground level ozone. Never ever seen this one before, had to look it up.

Great, a whole new level of wtf.

^That's just another day along Utah's Wasatch Front

We're in the hot zone; a week of 95˚ or hotter.

July in Moraga and it's only 70s.

I don't care about pollution

Yea I'm busy as a beaver

We've had mid-90s the last couple three weeks, with overnight lows only going down to the high-60s, and daytime relative humidity in the teens and twenties. Fire weather they call it. lol

Holy Schnikeys Raz.

I was gunna have people over for the phish stream drive-in style. I guess I'll stay inside.

100 and rising here. 2pm.  Been 107 couple times this week.

Low temperatures 60F to 70F. * WHERE...In Oregon, Lower Columbia and South Willamette Valley. Overnight low temperatures will generally fall in the lower 60s most nights between now and Saturday, but the higher hills of the region will experience low temperatures between 65F to 70F.

There's been a 40 degree swing here between night and day.  (105/65)

Hotter today. Already 102 at 1:30.  Only got down to 70 last night.

Mark, thinking of the 40˚ swing, does that mean it'll be 110˚ today? I hope not.

It was 72 when I woke up at 4:30 AM, but it's only gotten up to the high 80s here so far because we've got some high, thin cloud cover from the monsoon system, which we're catching the periphery of. We won't get rain, but a few degrees less today is okay by me.

Just 106 so far...

108 "feels like 112" Warmer yet tomorrow here in E. WA.

Night before last it was 90 at midnight on the Columbia at Desert Aire. That is very odd as we normally get huge temp drops at night.

109 today. Only got down to 72 last night.

Lots of hundreds to mid teens all over the great Pacific NW today.

But a low is approaching from the SW, combined with some monsoonal moisture from the desert SW, and the convective models are just starting to forecast thunderstorms in more areas than usual.
(100 strikes today in Siskyou county, and my friend in the S. Cal desert said the lightning show was nuts tonight!).

Models storm forecast for the weekend (will likely be some changes)

Could be a fun way to end a heat wave for the storm deprived (the storms should be wetter with each day), vs being prepared for all the new fire outbreaks this will likely cause.

The models are now bringing Hurricane Frank up and just off the westcoast later next week, that could get interesting. Hopefully there'll be some wetting rains with it.
(For those at Veneta 82, something similar is what caused it to dump heavy rain later that night)

Our climate has changed

Thanks for sharing those models/graphics, Noodler. It is not entirely out of character for Vegas to get some monsoonal activity this time of year (usually more so into Aug though) but it was still raining LAST night after this wild activity on Thursday night.

Overcast here today. Slightly cooler.  92 right now.

60 here on Marin Coast.

This mornings visible pic shows SW OR getting smoked out.  (The current pic isn't as clear cut, but most of S OR is smoked out, with the smoke moving north)

It's so hot, even in the shade the juice in my vape cartridge is boiling

Steely Dan BPT in 90*plus humid as fug.

im bringing beers

Nice cool spell here this week. 95/58 yesterday.

76 and sunny at 9,600' today.

We have had a magnificently wet summer. Monsoons have not turned off. Quite a welcome change.

Steely Dan BPT in 90*plus humid as fug.<<<

Yes indeed. I'm thinking they won't come on until 9 or so. Either way I'll be a late arrival.

> Nice cool spell here this week. 95/58 yesterday.

Here too the last couple of days, Mark. Overnight temps in the high 50s is quite a relief from the 70s we had just last week.

Most of Oregon was between 95 and 100 today, even Astoria made it up to 88. (the coast south of there only cool part of the state).

Storms popping up on the east side of the cascades.  Smoke from the fires in the house too, and that pesky low that generated some rare west side thunderstorms last week will finally be coming ashore this week, providing a nice cool down, and another chance of storms monday night - weds (current vague forecast, models don't deal with cut off lows very well)

Tatters that show was fire right? Not so bad by 6 when we got there. The storm clouds rolled in knocking down the sun but they never dumped and rain.

Supposed to top out at 85 today.  Looks like that will be the end of Summer around here.
