Dragon with matches seen leaving the scene

The Great America!!!

Sounds like it was the Grate Room that got torched.

Insurance scam?

Homeless loser wanting to roast a weenie?

A bitter dead head seeking delayed revenge because he was once turned away by that tyrant who worked the door?

Shapiro was once interested in the place. I always hoped he or someone else would take it on, even if just a restaurant again, just to see people back in that fun place.

Now, will it just get torn down? That would be a bummer.

Well, then there's this from a different article...

Willie McDevitt, property manager for the venue, said he didn’t know why the building may have been targeted or how the fire started. The owners plan to make immediate repairs and increase security at the property, he said, adding that the site could soon reopen as a music club with new owners.

It's not a small or easy place to run as a music venue since the majority of the property is a large restaurant, which is why Shapiro was a good choice to take it on. He's wanted to open a venue on the west coast for years though, so who knows, maybe he's been sniffing around there again.

I'm glad it didn't burn down, hopefully it will rise again.

The Phoenix at Terrapin Crossroads...

Was it still gonna be a Tesla dealership?

I'm willing to blame "that tyrant who worked the door".

But maybe it was a way to pay for needed upgrades before Shappy could take it over?

I'll be back.

Good, Pete. That bodes well for whatever/wherever you'll be back at...

I loved seeing Phil there and the talent he brought to such a  small venue but it wasn't a good layout.

If they do bring it back I really hope they change the Grate Room to the way it was before it became Terrapin with the band stage to left as you walk in. I know he changed it so they could have a backstage for the band but it ruined the flow in the room with people constantly walking to either the bar at one end or the bathroom at the other. But who knows maybe just as bad since the only show I went to there before it became Terrapin was a Furthur rehearsal  and just way less people in there than the all the people Phil would pack in.

Anyway that was one hell of an amazing run -  glad I got to go to as many as I did even though I can always find a reason to complain, and speaking of complaining it was strange how it became a place to be seen in Marin -  not as strange as Dead & Co at The Sphere but certainly a step along that path. It ended up being a long way from Buckle Up Kids.

some dude bought the bar a round of drinks once when i was there. never seen it before. that was nice.

Phil Bombs...

Unexploded ordnance?

I'd like to think Phil left it all on the stage.

hobo weeinie roast got out of hand

If I'm seeing that photo correctly, that spot is neither on the southern end of the property or near the Grate Room. That looks to be along the back side behind the bar, near the water.

My money is on an insurance scam.

Win!!!

That's what I'm saying

Never knew that but always found the set up a little awkward.  No depth dead center.

>>>>>>I'd like to think Phil left it all on the stage.

Bruce Hampton sure did.

Back when it was the Palm Ballroom, DNB played there a lot. The now backstage was the "smoking" area and you could watch the show through the glass.  A sign on the wall said no tobacco please.
