Opinions on Parish?

Forums:

I've listened to his XM show a time or two and he either has the best memory of any drug-addled person ever or he makes a lot of shit up. Like Phil dosing for 99 percent of the Dead's shows. I know he got David Kemper fired from the Jerry band way back when. Probably roughed up a lot of heads back in the day. He gives off the "peace and love" vibes on his show and somehow ended up doing meet and greets during this DeadCo residency and fans said he was likable.

Just curious.

I know that he was there, man  but wondering if any Zoners had run-ins with him.

He gave me a blood blister once when moving a bass amp, lol

His band sucks and he's a dick in person. Not a fan. YMMV

The word "blowhard" comes to mind.

ive always been pretty skeptical of the phil dosing for 99% of gd shows thing. nobody wants to believe that more than me...but idk man.

He's too old to be intimidating any more so he plays nice.

If Phil was dosing in the 90s, it must have been some real bunk sh*t, and / or a bad trip.

Pretty sure that was Garcia's call with Steve just playing the heavy. Can't really blame him for it.

They probably deserved it.

The kemper thing never made any sense to me, from any angle

"Hey Brother Steve, I met you outside the back door Milwaukee 1972."

"I remember you. We were paying a 3 night run. Great shows."

First, no way in hell the guy "remembers" 90% of the minutia he says he does. Second, I know GDP was like a family, but Christ, he needs to drop the "we." He wasn't in the band and he didn't play at any of the shows.

If people enjoy his show, cool with me. I turn it off. His book wasn't that great either.

Least favorite member of the community... at best.

"You're a damn good audience!'

Steve's show is better than Lambert & Gans but that doesn't say much.

... "Well, you ain't so big, you just tall, that's all"

find him insufferable. and yes, his show is better than gans'...that's how bad that shit it.

He gave us Garcia's roaches from atop his amp during a load-out when JGB played my college gym in the 70's...

No first hand stories but plenty of second hand stories that would burn off both your ears. Made me realize even when I was very young and very stupid that the barrier at the front of the stage was also there to keep the audience safe from the people back there.  Enter at your own risk. One that stuck with me is Kidd breaking into cars and ripping off stereos for the fun of it at Oxford, and Natascha may have faired well back there at 16 but that was not the case for some of the people I knew.
