May 16, 17, 19 at Stanford Stadium

Forums:

Big concert planned May 16,17 and 19 at Stanford Stadium.

Rumor is Mayer and Friends, aka Dead Co

Blech.

But, y'know, see y'all there probably.

not everybody likes licorice

but people who like stale licorice

really like stale licorice

LOL

Mayer has friends?

No spot taken.

The bus came by and I got uninterested.

Was just watching a clip fro Phil, Warren & Sco at Mountain Jam.

Glad that the old guys are soldiering on. Like Count Basie .... play until you drop.

But

SO damn Slow...

There's a bunch of other Stadium Shows I'd rather see. This new* concert  venue is actually very good.

And if anyone is considering going now is a good time to grab a room reservation at the Sheraton or  Weston in P.A. which are walking distance to the stadium.

Easy walking from Caltrain too.

>But, y'know, see y'all there probably.

Probably, since I might be working the event(s). Ticket prices will likely range from $300 to ten times that for multiple VIP options.

I've got more big shows lined up next year than usual already so unlikely I'd make this even if it hit the road again

> Ticket prices will likely range from $300 to ten times that for multiple VIP options.

Even with the steep decline in the birthrate, it's good to know that suckers are still being born every minute.

And don't forget the millions in official merchandise that will sold. I expect the shows will sell out fast, cause eveyone wants to see the "Grateful Dead". Yeah, I know..

There's an ass for every seat.

This circus started on the Peninsula, maybe the universe is going full circle for a grand finale.

(In that case, I missed the beginning and will miss the very end. I can say, with utmost certainty, some of the middle was pretty damn fun.)

As stadiums go, Stanford is a really good one.

As whining goes, if this does turn out to be Dead $ Co. then these shows will provide the whiners with plenty of opportunities to whine.

It's win/win.

Interesting that Bobby continues to lie low.  If he was sure to be there (and I guess this goes for Mickey too), wouldn't it be billed as Dead & Co. instead of as John Mayer & Friends?

i got the impression that "mayer and friends" was just a jab from nanc and not the actual billing

Enough already...

>>>>enough already

Too much of everything is just enough

Okay, which one of you rascals posted this thread to Reddit?!

btw, permits were granted last month. Concerts to end by 10pm. Fireworks allowed for 2 shows.

John Mayer's 51% DeadCo

> which one of you rascals

It definitely wasn't Alfalfa. My money's on Buckwheat.

>Just Announced: David Byrne at the Frost Amphitheater on April 16, 2026

Now that sounds like fun.

So.. um.. John Mayer and Friends, an all star tribute to Bob Weir??

If it's true that those were D&C/Mayer dates it's very possible that they'll keep to the plan do something like that.

I hope they do, and that they play every song slooooooow in Bobby's honor.

It actually could be a good show with special guests, but not if they're playing SLOWLY, imo. But sure, it would be fitting..

And if they really want to monetize the event they'll offer tickets for overflowing video viewing at the Frost.

*just all  rumors - too soon?

Well, I was joking about the tempos, but I'm sure Bob would appreciate it as a final prankster flip of the bird to all the whiners.

rough crowd.

to really honor bobby they should all incessantly fuck with all their gear during the songs.

A lot of potential for a wonderful and touching set of shows. Who is in charge of ths?

Live nation

MEH

No zoner with a dome

Doesn't show up

*know

had to piss

Live Nation would have nothing to do with the planning of the shows, that's just not what they do. The most they would think of is making it a tribute tour. MO' MONEY, MO' MONEY, MO' MONEY is as far as their creativity goes.

The planning of it would be mostly Mayer, and maybe Bob's family if he looks their way, which he likely would because despite all the shallow, misguided hate for Mayer he is a decent guy who has continually honored the GD legacy and certainly would for any tribute.

And I bet he'd pick up the hallowed tempos.

^ solid admission you've been bot

.

Like it or not Bob said his hope was that Mayer would continue on without him. I have no idea if Mayer wants to do that but there are dollars there if does. Who will be fake Bob.

I fine with Mayer calling the shots. No hate here. Never my favorite guy, but he definitely gets my respect on many levels. Weir gave him his blessing. What else do you need?

Of course ^

People who love Dead and Company and stadium shows  will continue to love Dead and Company.. or Mayer and Company.

These shows will probably serve as a tribute, so I'd guess a rotating cast of guest sit-ins.

Some likely candidates on guitar:

Played In Bands With Bobby

Warren Haynes

John Kadlicek

Mark Karan

Jimmy Herring

Barry Sless

Matt Kelly

Shared Stage With

Trey Anastasio

Billy Strings

Sturgill Simpson

David Nelson

Carlos Santana

Susan Tedeschi

Steve Kimock

Rob Eaton

Joan Baez

Grahame Lesh

Don Was will be involved,  probably with the Wolfpack horns and strings.  Perhaps Larry and Teresa Campbell.  Sammy Hagar will be there.  Eric Andersen, who co-wrote Weather Report Suite Part 1 and played on the Festival Express tour, would be an interesting guest.  Other musical collaborators like Tom Constanten, Bruce Hornsby, Billy Cobham, Kenny Gradney, Joe Russo, Sunshine Becker, Jeff Pehrson,  Brittney Spencer, Tyler Childers, Joan Osborne. Ron Carter, David Murray, Sikeru Adepoju. and Dave Ellis are possibilities.  There's probably a few more.   Jeff Mattson, Melvin Seals?  It could be really good.

Dead & Co. as the house band,  Maybe a Bill Kreutzmann appearance for one last Rhythm Devils.

If Dead & Co. continues on, maybe Eaton.  Grahame would work too.

Something to honor Bob will surely happen.

Something is already happening all over the world there are bands playing tributes to Bobby. But maybe you're talking about "Forever Dead"/ "Dead and Company"/"Mayer and Friends"  ? And yep, it's likely  that will happen too.

Sounds like they settled on 'Forever Dead' as the new name
