There's a bunch of other Stadium Shows I'd rather see. This new* concert venue is actually very good.
And if anyone is considering going now is a good time to grab a room reservation at the Sheraton or Weston in P.A. which are walking distance to the stadium.
Easy walking from Caltrain too.
>But, y'know, see y'all there probably.
Probably, since I might be working the event(s). Ticket prices will likely range from $300 to ten times that for multiple VIP options.
And don't forget the millions in official merchandise that will sold. I expect the shows will sell out fast, cause eveyone wants to see the "Grateful Dead". Yeah, I know..
Interesting that Bobby continues to lie low. If he was sure to be there (and I guess this goes for Mickey too), wouldn't it be billed as Dead & Co. instead of as John Mayer & Friends?
Live Nation would have nothing to do with the planning of the shows, that's just not what they do. The most they would think of is making it a tribute tour. MO' MONEY, MO' MONEY, MO' MONEY is as far as their creativity goes.
The planning of it would be mostly Mayer, and maybe Bob's family if he looks their way, which he likely would because despite all the shallow, misguided hate for Mayer he is a decent guy who has continually honored the GD legacy and certainly would for any tribute.
Like it or not Bob said his hope was that Mayer would continue on without him. I have no idea if Mayer wants to do that but there are dollars there if does. Who will be fake Bob.
I fine with Mayer calling the shots. No hate here. Never my favorite guy, but he definitely gets my respect on many levels. Weir gave him his blessing. What else do you need?
These shows will probably serve as a tribute, so I'd guess a rotating cast of guest sit-ins.
Some likely candidates on guitar:
Played In Bands With Bobby
Warren Haynes
John Kadlicek
Mark Karan
Jimmy Herring
Barry Sless
Matt Kelly
Shared Stage With
Trey Anastasio
Billy Strings
Sturgill Simpson
David Nelson
Carlos Santana
Susan Tedeschi
Steve Kimock
Rob Eaton
Joan Baez
Grahame Lesh
Don Was will be involved, probably with the Wolfpack horns and strings. Perhaps Larry and Teresa Campbell. Sammy Hagar will be there. Eric Andersen, who co-wrote Weather Report Suite Part 1 and played on the Festival Express tour, would be an interesting guest. Other musical collaborators like Tom Constanten, Bruce Hornsby, Billy Cobham, Kenny Gradney, Joe Russo, Sunshine Becker, Jeff Pehrson, Brittney Spencer, Tyler Childers, Joan Osborne. Ron Carter, David Murray, Sikeru Adepoju. and Dave Ellis are possibilities. There's probably a few more. Jeff Mattson, Melvin Seals? It could be really good.
Dead & Co. as the house band, Maybe a Bill Kreutzmann appearance for one last Rhythm Devils.
If Dead & Co. continues on, maybe Eaton. Grahame would work too.
Something is already happening all over the world there are bands playing tributes to Bobby. But maybe you're talking about "Forever Dead"/ "Dead and Company"/"Mayer and Friends" ? And yep, it's likely that will happen too.
