Have any of the Dead & Co. shows on the upcoming tour sold out?

Forums:

I see and hear commercials almost daily for the shows in my area. Every Red Sox game I check in on has ads for Dead & Co. at Fenway. Are tickets sales really that bad?

I get emails flogging the Citifield show every other day.

Maybe there'll be a Groupon by early June.

To be fair, Fenway's concert capacity is 38,000 and Citi Field's is 42,000. A lot of acts wouldn't sell that out.

I would go, but the tickets are too expensive.

with that logic they should of played jones beach and great woods instead of half empty stadiums..w 2 nights at Fenway to boot..

Half full...forever the optimist!

After all the shows they did last year, it's really no surprise that demand is less this go around. Regardless of how well they play, or not, it's not like they have anything new to offer. In reality, all Live Nation cares about is selling enough tickets to make a tidy profit...which they will. In some markets they do well and some not so well. As long as it all averages out to the tour being an overall money maker, the promoter and band will be happy.

As a side note, baseball stadiums usually have the highest percentage of seats that the sound is quite marginal. Fenway is probably the worst of the lot. Sure the place has a certain panache but it's old style does not lend itself to concerts. Citi Field is a little bit better but still not great in a lot of locations. If you caught a few shows last tour; would you go again with crappy seats?

I will never attend a concert in a stadium again for any reason. Some outdoor sheds are still reasonable on the right evening - but a concert in a mega sports stadium? No thank you.

DeadCo in stadiums. Ha. Talk about a bad trip.

>>I would go, but the tickets are too expensive John Mayer is in the band.

fixed it :-)

I'm looking forward to being on tour again this summer!! This is going to rock.

(June 30th at Wrigley is going to be my 150th Grateful Dead show!)

Now you've done it, Badger. Calling DeadCo the GD will open the floodgates to hell!

Why? Just because Jerry's ex-wife and the court system hasn't legally allowed Bobby to call any of these bands "the grateful dead", like he wants to?

Pffft  .

150th GD show. Can I borrow your time machine?

Call it what you want, my man, I don't care. Others, though, tend to take it very seriously.

Those people need to try some acid then

>>> it's not like they have anything new to offer.

I concur.   I enjoy seeing some GD music as much as the next person but I'm not going to overpay and have to deal with stadiums, large crowds and much more.   There are too many better options out there.

However, if I was in town and there were super cheap seats.   I'd consider.

Music aside, the Folsom shows last year were one of the best parties Boulder had seen in a really long time. I worked the shows so my perspective was a little different but I had a lot of fun on a social level and the half hour around  drumz was a musical highlight.

Who doesn't like a party? Old people and squares

I love a party, but I just don't like a huge shitshow of clusterfuckery.

>>>>>>>and the half hour around  drumz was a musical highlight.

not a ringing endorsement

Regardless of how well they play, or not, it's not like they have anything new to offer.<<<

more black licorice, which is fine by me ... this space is getting hot as far as I'm concerned

Going to Boulder, but on the fence re: Utah ... although very confident it will be vastly undersold given Furthur's less than stellar turnout a few years ago in an even smaller venue ... even passed up on the $20 tickets - knowing I will probably be able to get something close in price for lawn or not have to pay much more for reserved

There might be more info on the Dead Co discussion board.

>>>(June 30th at Wrigley is going to be my 150th Grateful Dead show!)

Not enough acid in Owsley's freezer to fix this...

I heard a rumor of a stealth show at the Brooklyn Bowl in Vegas which would be sick

>>>Not enough acid in Owsley's freezer to fix this...

what?

will they be covering any of the new jm album?

and which stadium show does lady gaga sit in?

BB, you can call it anything you want but most would never refer to DeadMart as the Grateful Dead.

You also referred to those who don't feel DeadMart as needing to try some acid.

I made an attempt to combine those two ideas into a mild troll.  But, as Dangerfield said, if you have to explain it it is not funny.

I heard a rumor of a stealth show at the Brooklyn Bowl in Vegas which would be sick<<<

You did, did you?

I'm going to the Saturday show at Fenway with my daughter's Mom and we're banking on going up and finding some cheap tickets dumped outside beforehand.

they're pretty much giving away lawn tix here ...$20/ cheap.

Almost tempting .......but I shant

I picked up $20 tickets for Saratoga.  $20 no fees, why not.

"June 30th at Wrigley is going to be my 150th Grateful Dead show!"

No, it isn't.

>>>>>>"June 30th at Wrigley is going to be my 150th Grateful Dead show!"

Congrats.  I smell a very special Winging/Pinning ceremony.

So it's Koons fault the bobster can't call dead slow the Grateful Dead..got it..

They lowered the price for GA for the boulder show twice in the last couple weeks. That's a sign they're trying to sell tickets

>>>No, it isn't

excuse me? are you trying to regulate my concert tally? Wanna see the spreadsheet pal?

>>>Not enough acid in Owsley's freezer to fix this

solid work

>>excuse me? are you trying to regulate my concert tally? Wanna see the spreadsheet pal?

I don't think he's trying to regulate it, rather, he's pointing out that the band you'll be following this summer is not the Grateful Dead.

Regardless, good for you; I hope you have a lot of fun.  I'm not interested enough to go to that many shows but wish everyone a good time.

bucko  - last grateful dead concert was on July 9th , 1995-  didn't you get the memo?

I enjoyed the DeadCo shows i saw last summer. Did Virginia and Camden. Thought VA better show but had a great time at both. Was cool hanging out with lots of Zoners at both places. I dig some Bobby and have no problem with Mayers playing. It's the faces he makes playing that freak me out.  I've long evolved past trying to fit the current music back into the GD box. Hanging on the lawn with friends and getting some live GD songs for $40 Is great entertainment value in my book. Plus there's software that prints any ticket section for your seats. Paper tickets are funny...

>> It's the faces he makes playing

LOL.  I look so pissed when I play guitar, though, I'm often on the exact opposite end of my emotional spectrum.

>>>bucko  - last grateful dead concert was on July 9th , 1995-  didn't you get the memo?

you know how much of a pain in the ass is is to say "well I saw 14 grateful dead shows and 16 other ones shows and 67 ratdog shows and 3 Phil and friends shows and 16 Furthur shows and 34 dead and co shows"? a big one.

for people who are ok with never showering you sure do get hung up on some pretty minor stuff. some serious mellow harshing taking place here

So, now we know. You've seen the Grateful Dead 14 times. That wasn't too hard, was it?

Yup, every alpine valley show from 85 - 89

you're right I didn't shower this morning   (I usually do)

thanks Buck

I'll probably head to Camden if I can arrange highly-discounted tickets.

A buddy with a radio promo job often has giveaways for various local shows.

Otherwise, it's a bit beyond my budget.

I would just label them "Grateful Dead-related" shows to avoid any sort of controversy going forward.

Yup, every alpine valley show from 85 - 89<<<

And are you "counting" the JGB show in '89 as a GD show, bucko?

 You're kidding right?

well more power to you what the fuck

67 RAT DRUG shows and three Phil shoes

that just doesn't compute

if that's your technique I'm sure many zoners are in the four digit category for Dead related shows (not dead shows for clarification)

just tell us how many times you have  seen Phill  as you're standing here today on hollowed viva ground

maybe you need to enhance your spreadsheet JFC

I'm very interested in this Stealth BB Vegas show as I am going to Vegas. I have tix to see Carlos at The HOB on 5/26 (the most logical date) but if there is a stealth show I need to know about it. Any more info? I really liked Vegas in 2015, Irvine & Chula Vista in 2016 and am going to Vegas, AZ, LA and Citifield on this go round.

It cracks me up w all the ragging on Mayer, Tempo, ect...If you don't like em don't go. Just like those who rag on Phil's various line ups. I am not a fan of Joan Osborn singing lead vocals on Grateful Dead songs so I don't go, others love her and do go and I am happy they are scratching their itch . It's a fairly simple equation.

Referring to this abomination as the Grateful Dead is akin to referring to a steaming pile of shit as filet mignon

67 ratdog shows. haha. damn.

there are such things as shitty bands. dead&co fall

into that category. pretty simple. do billy and mickey still use pancakes as drum sticks? that's what it sounds like. pancakes.

>>and 67 ratdog shows

as pyramid noticed, this may be the whole problem right here thinking ratdog is the Grateful Dead, .. we can now rule out Bucky being a regular from old PZ, no way would anyone admit to that one..

Bucky...did you witness the Knee Drop shoe?

i saw a total of 2 Ratdog shoes. That's right, he fooled me twice. Shame on me.

>>>. we can now rule out Bucky being a regular from old PZ, no way would anyone admit to that one..

solid

Told you, Bucky. You brought this maelstrom upon yourself.

And 6, I know I've seen at least 3 RD shows with you!

It's OK Bucko, don't let the "pile on" get you down.  I've probably seen upwards of 50.

>>>>>It cracks me up w all the ragging on Mayer, Tempo, ect...If you don't like em don't go.

I highly doubt the people "ragging" on them will go.

Higher Ground and The Flynn - was there another?

Are you saying the motherfucker fooled me three times?

I disagree Timmy. Many will play the justification game, I got a Group on deal or I got a ticket for 20 bucks ect..... I just find it all kind of ridiculous. I like the band and am looking forward to the shows I'm attending .

Alpine. Remember?

They were better than PL&F!

By the way, great thread. Even us Gen Xers can't get these kind of numbers in only 12 hours. Some people may be jealous!

>>And are you "counting" the JGB show in '89 as a GD show, bucko?

i never saw a Garcia band show, so no I'm not counting that.

Is it OK if I say it's my 150th Grateful Dead PHAMLY show??? And it's not like I was seeing death metal or rap or widespread panic or shit like that, sheesh people. Bunch of Bobby haters.

Yes, young Badger, you are learning the ways of the Zone. Very few here profess their love of Bobby. To do so, one must have very thick skin.

no hate on Bobby here

The Grateful Dead's last show was July 9, 1995 anything you saw after like anything anyone saw after was NOT The Grateful Dead. It may have been fun and a show we all enjoyed like say 9/25/03 at The Warfield w The Q or 2/18/01 w The Q at The Maritime (best post Jerry show I've seen to date) or TOO in 1998 or TOO in Alpine in 2002 at Terrapin Station and many others but none of them were The Grateful Dead.

Bucky plays the Boomers like a puppet.

Fine work, Sir.

Interesting thread going here. I'll add where I'm at for fun.

I went to Citi Field last year & will say I was somewhat pleasantly surprised. I thought the music was very enjoyable & while for the most part I can't stand John Mayer, he was better than I expected. Lot scene was pretty damn cool that day too.

That being said, I agree that the prices are high for my taste & I'm not really up for a trip to Queens. 2 good friends were kind enough to give me a ticket for Camden. 8th row to the right. Not passing that up esp since it's free & I'm looking forward to it. Hoping my leg is sufficiently better by that time, but the van I'm going in is set up well & the girl has a handicap placard so I'm not too worried.

And I def look forward to seeing Bob & the drummers again. Just my 2 cents fwiw.

>>And are you "counting" the JGB show in '89 as a GD show, bucko?

Just looked it up ... 9/15/89 was actually my first GD related show of any kind, drove in from Madison where I was going to school at the time.  It was actually a double bill with Weir / Wasserman.

It's OK by me, I'm not a stickler and I kind of view the GD like a hologram; if it breaks apart, all the remaining pieces still contain information about the whole (from its vantage point).   While I hope both Bobby & Phil are able to play for many years to come, the reality is "this space is getting hot" ... and once it's over, it's over ... there are some things you can replace and others you can not.

Timmy, you know Brian is not a Boomer, right?

Wasn't referring to him.

He's not bent out of shape about Bucky trolling and calling Dead Co the Grateful Dead.

I was just walking our dog and heard a neighbor sitting on his porch strumming his guitar and singing. I told the young college student that it was a nice tune. "It's John Mayer, he's my favorite musician." I mentioned Dead and Company at Shoreline. He said that he's listened to many of the Dead and Company songs and really likes some of them, might go to the show if he can get a good seat up close to watch his idol. He was more impressed that I'd seen Dead and Company than the fact that I'd seen the Grateful Dead. Yeah, he knows who Jerry Garcia is, but just likes John Mayer more.  Kids..

more like dog town, I walk his family's dog too.

Well, neither am I - so i'll just move by that one and say - Hundy is in sight people!'

ALL DEAD and company shows are a sell out

by definition

 Boomer Representin Bro

Have fun those that go

there is a fair chance I will be one of them as it's 5 miles away

>never saw a Garcia band show, so no I'm not counting that.<

move along skippy

I was 18 when Garcia died, my folks never took me to any of his shows, just alpine shows.

^ that 89 show I mentioned was at Alpine

Depends what you mean by Sold Out? If you mean are tickets still available for face through the box office or ticketmaster proper the answer is yes lots of the shows are sold out... If you mean are all the tickets sold and are they hard to come by then no none of the shows are sold out. For the two shows I am watching it seems there are only premium seats through ticketmaster But tons of tickets on the secondary market. I'll wait and see . To me it looks like ticketmaster is back to it's old tricks pre Springsteen suit

$20 outside

>> To be fair, Fenway's concert capacity is 38,000 and Citi Field's is 42,000. A lot of acts wouldn't sell that out.

Every single other show that's been at Fenway since they started having concerts has sold out, except for Dead & Co. And I do mean every single one...

Phish, Pearl Jam, McCartney, Tom Petty, James Taylor, Billy Joel, Roger Waters, Dave Matthews to name a few...

You can get Upper Back and Side for $27 now for MGM Grand in Las Vegas for this coming Sat.

Bunch a curmudgeons! smiley    Bobby Rules. No Bobby= no Grateful Dead= No Phil= No dead family shows since 1995.

I liked Dead n Co.  enough to spend 20 or so on another show.  I also liked the drums portion as it is the thing closest to original GD show.  Just Mickey and Bill., if ya think about it.

Also- if a someone gets the spirit, they can call a shoe whatever they want, IMO. Cool your folks took you to Alpine Bucky. Think Ive seen Ratdog 20-30 times, once involving a go-go dancer.  No regrets.

I doubt it will be hard to find tickets for the D n Co tour.

well put Fly

they should've hit the mann in philly.

camden? oh right, fits more people.

and stadiums, lol. caking up this summer.
