ooooh! Thanks for this.... but listening to PLQ Christmas Jam now..

Twas there. Some of the other shows overshadowed this one for me. Sure like the era.

Hey! I'm ridin' the Mystery Train at the moment.^

(Did the PLQ thing earlier.)

The Simple Twist of Fates from this era always incredible. Garcia can play so quiet and delicate.

These versions are part of why Dylan called Garcia the best interpreter of his music.

Got this one as a freshman student, plus, the 5/79 & 5/80 Dead shows in the same gym.

Another fine show 3 months later a couple hours away at the Stanley in Pittsburgh

How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By, You Catfish John, Cats Under The Stars, Simple Twist Of Fate, Tore Up Over You, Gomorrah, Mystery Train

Harder They Come, Mission In The Rain, Love In The Afternoon, Let Me Roll It, I Second That Emotion, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, I'll Be With Thee, Midnight Moonlight

Was listening to Feb tour '80 the last couple nights and I thought are there any other artists that can enrapture a ballad like Garcia? Not only a ballad, but sometimes slow enough where it's on the outskirts of stopping.

Can't think of many. Sinatra could hold the moment in a similar way. Different era, different music, but a comparable quiet bombast. That being said, he wasn't doing a 17-minute Twist of Fate.

More modern contemporaries? Maybe they exist, just blanking.

Yes JP. Amazing how he could pull that off.

I was listening to SUNY Oswego a couple of days ago, and it is simply unreal how he can go from a fast, face-melting thing like

After Midnight-->Eleanor Rigby-->After Midnignt, then do something like you described.

Unparalleled, IMO.

Midnight>Elanor>Midnight is such a favorite of mine. That Kean College show is Jerry in a fine moment.

It was such a ridiculous combo that worked so well; no wonder he only did it a few times. Too cool to burn out.

I think I have another one from Keystone Berkeley.

When they finally released Keene College, I'm saying, what took you guys so long?

I think this is the first time he did M>Elanor>M

So is this some backdoor on the Archive?  Trying to get to the list of available JGB shoes and only get the post Jerry shoes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for posting that Doolittle. It does appear that is the first one.

He did at least 9; there is a missing set list so it could be 10.

Fucking Rodeo, CA got one. I bet there weren't 200 people at that show...

^Do you work for the Jerry Estate Zang?

How many times has the JGB played Friend of the Devil? I've never seen it or heard one except the show I posted above.

And yep, that's the place krab.

But only the shows with blue dates have bootlegs or soundboards Some if not most are not top notch quality.

Hell yes Krab! Thanks for the link. Looking forward to hearing this one.

Doolittle, the Friend of the Devil question occurred to me as I was listening to that show. After a quick check it looks like FOTD was played 5 or 6 times

from the end of '79 through '80.

I saw Garcia and Kahn do this, as well as Garcia/Grisman, but never the JGB. Awesome.

I was hesitant to post that site as maybe someone from the Estate will close it down. Please don't do it Trixie!

Trix is too busy peddling weed to be worried about a few illegal streams.

The Friend of the Devil question>>>

Looks like the debut with JGB, along w/Sugaree, was on a tour of the Northeast with Nikki Hopkins in late October '75.

Show from a couple weeks earlier at Keystone has a version of You Win Again.  Starts @ 32 minutes.
