Hands down 11/1/85

Also love 11/10/85

9/15/85

85 was the best year for them imo. Jerry was just ripe to sing these kinds of songs.

Not even if your hands were up.

The one that posts here of course  (~);}

5/9/77

buffalo '77?

to be clear, i was suggesting that version as best evah, not asking if that was the show you posted.

so, 2 votes for 5-9-77

So come on Felina were waiting.

5/9/77 and 7/17/76 are nice versions but IMO those 85 versions Jerry sang it with more authority and like a wise old man. Very soulful.

Sure, if you like raspy phlegm.

If singing it like he mean't it. Like he was telling a lesson to his grand kid, then I love raspy phlegm.

Joe has a good point about 85, 11/1/85 was a great show although we all thought the night before was just as good or better. Joe is also correct that its lame to say 'not even' if you don't have a better example to share.

All of them were good imo.

>>>So come on Felina were waiting.

It's reasonable (in my mind) that you think  an 85 version of Comes was the best ever.  The maturity Garcia had by that time, despite his horrendous health.  Those are some special versions (again..in my mind).

The 'hands down' part is where I thought the stupid came in.

>>>All of them were good imo.

Also lame (maybe stupid is a more appropriate word) to say that unless you've heard all of them.

That growl at the end on 11/1/85 put it over the top and made it an instant classic imo.

Just like the growl on Might as Well 10/29/77 NIU show

I've never heard a bad Comes a Time.

I love the 11/1/85. That's one of my all time favorite shows to listen to.

Best Comes a Time?

Why this one:

Comes a Time.jpg

Sorry Jerry.

Which version Ken?wink

I have to go with the Richmond 85 Comes A Time. Tune was a melt down that night sung and played with emotion and passion.

I was about 15 feet away from Garcia so that helped with the whole process of melting. I always wanted to play Comes A Time into Comes A Time live....I love both songs!

Well I'm gonna go with the 71 ones... more heart and soul....

There's one in 77' where his guitar really soars. Prob better jam the methed out 85' versions.

5-21-77?

76......

Buffalo 77 is the most technically crisp -- the band at the peak of their virtuosity, for the post-hiatus era at least. The 85 versions have more grit and soul, though.

i'll take Garcia tearing my mind apart with incredibly emotional guitar solos over him singing super expressively every day of the week.

that might just be me though.

P&F 4/27/2001 - Listened to the following Comes a time with the wife many many times. It is our favorite.

5-4-77 was sweet, if I remember correctly.

the 7-17-76 one has always been my favorite. 5-12-77 is a nice one too. The Neil Young Comes a Time album is in my top 3 Neil albums...Goin Back, 4 Strong Winds, Human Highway..etc. excellent songs. For Neil fans. 1972 Journey Through the Past film has some pretty cool footage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xglVMxLUrJ0&t=2878s

I saw several of these that are cited as the best, 'Comes A Time', however, I was always a bit partial to Hartford 5/10/80.

The one that's playing now.

(Many times it's the answer to "what's your favorite GD song?" as well.)heart

I'm with the Mayor. The old ones from 71 with the long jam at the end.

>>>Also lame (maybe stupid is a more appropriate word) to say that unless you've heard all of them.

No, lame and stupid would be trashing opinions and not giving a better example, typical weak material.

Not a bad one in the bunch can attach to a bunch of great songs that people love to hear. Meaning regardless of a mistake here and there in certain versions the overall body of the song is still good, as in all of them were good imo. Do you know what imo even means?

He cant help being a douche Fog. It's woven into his DNA.

>>>Do you know what imo even means?

Contraction for "I am a mo...".

Fog, Phaldo and Fish walk into a bar...
