Who thinks this a great venue.....I do

decent.

Its no Electric Factory .....just saying

haha

I like it very much

I do

Love the Cap!

can't ask for much more

Love everything about it .... sound, lights, overall vibe, surrounding restaurants, and on a few occasions the local hotel.  Looking forward to see JRAD there in a few weeks.  The only thing that I didn't like was being searched with a metal detector the last time I was there.

The Cap is a Jewel.

Been a handful of times now. Still haven't visited the Tacqueria everyone seems to like.

One nice thing is there's a good dogsitter midway between Cap & Hilton. Worked with her once, but last time she was in Brazil.

LOVE IT!!!!

Never been there but it sounds pretty solid to me, especially when compared to other places.

From individual posts on 1.0 it sounds like staff could be a bit better/more relaxed, but those situations could be more the exception than the rule, and from my far away perspective it sounds like security at almost all east coast venues is a little heavy handed.

I would guess that the main issue is the venue is located in a suburb and not in the big city, but that's not something that can be fixed or to complain about

.

Unless you're MikeW.

Metro north drops you off right next to the venue, It has a plethora of great places to eat near the venue,  The staff is very friendly, but they had to enforce the no smoking rule in the theater after many complaints to the fire marshall. but smoke freely in the outdoor smoking area

At the break I usually sit in the upstairs lobby and overlook the masses lining up to jam into the smoking area.  It can be pretty entertaining, like watching livestock.

Oops.  2nd time I did this.

I have seen it from up above and sorry to say I have been in that mess......entertaining if you want no part of it

im a groupon fan and this deal looks good. right next to the cap

https://www.groupon.com/deals/panka-peruvian-bistro

this pizza place is in back of the cap. last time i stopped in jason crosby walked in for a few slices. i dont think he had the groupon however

https://www.groupon.com/deals/angelo-s-pizza-pasta

Love it.  I only wish it was closer so I didn't have to splurge on a hotel every time I go.

Love it!!! Can't wait to go back!

¿do you want my taco?

The venue itself is decent. Very small but plenty of room to dance.

Love the Cap heart, staff is always cool to me and they know me by name now ( I always bring them treats n stuff). It is so exciting and never get's old the feeling of walking up to the venue and seeing everyone out front...walking thru those doors( while chatting with random strangers in line) and feeling like "I'm home". Knowing that Phil is going to take us on another journey of magical musical madness, and that  all my phreaky, wonderful partners in Phil~ness are spread out thru out the venue...and I am feeling the energy surround and lift me so high that I can touch the ceiling...lol !

True story ~

When you bribe the ushers to like you that isn't saying much.

*toke*

yeah right...lol wink

hi Zip , Hope you are well ?

Fantastic. Sobriety is really starting to suit me. Really happy to be back in Alaska.

Only got down to about -7 tonight. Bound to get a lot colder but it's a dry cold.

I hear Dave Nelson is gonna be up here this Spring. That will be my next show.

my "hometown venue". Moved to port Chester this past summer and love it. Amazing restaurant choices. Panka is awesome. Salsa picante-mexican, aqui es sante fe-modern Colombian, coals and rye house are Also very good.  The cap is about as good as it gets for a great evening of music.

Sam

Bullshit. Port Chester is a festering boil. A ghetto. Don't make me vomit.

It's a fantastic venue..

I am with you Sam. Great Venue and Garcia's bar hosting smaller bands is fantastic. I even watched a Rangers playoff game in between sets at a Phil show. The surrounding neighborhood is very welcoming. At every show the police presence is strong but I have never seen anyone get harassed.  My only problem is the sound on the floor could be better which is why for the most part I stick to the lower balcony.

Maybe the police should actually do their job and harass a few people. As it is they spend more time

directing traffic than anything. For such an amazing venue it's a shame there is such a lack luster police force...

It's unfortunately a bit of a pain to get to -- although not very far (100 miles).

I've considered moving to Portchester to be near it, and maybe that will happen idk --- although I'm not in love with the place in a few other ways, it would be really nice to live close to that scene, though.

Best theater on the east coast...hands down...a working class neighborhood...nothing dangerous about it...it keeps getting nicer and nicer...Port Chester is booming...anybody who has never been there should check it out....

Captain trips,

which bear suit did you have on the last time you were at the CAP?

*Stroke*

Can't say, the only Cap I know was in Passaic.

Let's not get started on Passaic as I believe that there may be more crime there than in Port Chester.

None, not into the costume thing

The Cap is fine.

Kings Theatre in Brooklyn has better sound  and is beautiful inside, but it's in a tougher neighborhood.

Also has a free parking lot across the street.

Captain, are you from the Empire State?

Very convincing Troll Work by Zippy here. Nice job you convinced at least half of us that you really think its unsafe in Port Chester.

If its true i would guess you are on some wookie lot vendors hit list and really are afraid.

Time for a lineup announcement.

>Can't say, the only Cap I know was in Passaic.

port chester reminds me of passaic a bit

yes more crime in passaic i would guess. of course having paterson within walking distance may contribute to passaic's crime stats.

Oh boy....yes, anything else.....What's your story

It is pretty convenient to call troll when you don't agree with something. It somehow legitimatizes your biased opinion.

*toke*

Who's trolling Zippy?  You started a thread that shit on the town. We got your point!  Now you come to what is basically a Cap appreciation thread and start spewing the same rhetoric.  You make no sense.  I have an odd feeing that Port Cheater is safer without you.  Do everyone a favor and stand by your word and never return.

Cap has been a godsend to the scene. If you think about it, not sure any of us Easties would be seeing much of Phil anymore without it as I would doubt he would do residencies at any other place as the might not be quite as accommodating.

Currently out of work and would definitely take employment in the area to be able to catch more shows there. Currently 3.5 hours away which hasn't stopped me (over 60 shows), but it is a project to do that.

We hit up Inca and Gaucho's for pre-show dinners.

I've started three or four threads and none of them had to do with Port Chester. I also never suggested anyone was trolling.

I very clearly said it is very easy for someone to call someone a troll when they disagree.

Try to follow along.

*toke*

Now we are playing a game of semantics.  Next?

Now we are playing your lack of reading comprehension. Remedial English classes are free. No excuses.

*toke*

btw I will be back to the Capitol Theater eventually but I won't be hanging out in that shady neighborhood.

Show up thirty minutes before show time, go directly into the venue and hightail it out of Dodge after the encore.

Those after shows at Garcia's are fun too. As it is now in 4,400 miles from there so it will be awhile until I return.

You couldn't pay me to hang out in Port Chester otherwise.

I hope you have a huge problem with that.

*toke*

>>>Inca and Gaucho's

Love this place.

>btw I will be back to the Capitol Theater eventually but I won't be hanging out in that shady neighborhood.

wow zippy. i didn't take you for the kind of guy who would be intimidated by a few mexicans hanging around on the corner looking for work. better safe than sorry i guess

My bad I was incorrect that you didn't start the thread.  The point still stands. You spew the same shit.  And I wouldn't exactly try to challenge someone on the intellect of Literacy.  This coming from a person who was quoted saying " I ain't wearing no rainbow Flag t shirt" in the merch thread.  Have fun when you return to the Cap. That's the point that was trying to be made all along. Along with the fact its in Port Chester.

Port Chester is like Beverly Hills compared to Passaic.

>Port Chester is like Beverly Hills compared to Passaic.

haha. true.

passaic does have a jewish section with blocks of multi million dollar homes that is nicer than any area i know of in port chester however. its a weird setup. southeast corner of passaic. cross over passaic avenue and your in the hood. night and day.

Port Chester is like Beverly Hills compared to Passaic.    You got that right!!!

Eddie, I saw no day laborers there. Nice try. The place is a cesspool.

*toke*

Wharfrat, don't take ziptard seriously.

He learned to read via captions from porn movies in fellow zoners hotel rooms.

*Stroke*

>Eddie, I saw no day laborers there.

all right zip. not sure what you find so frightening about the place. been there for 90% of phils shows and haven't seen or heard anyone complaining about hassles from the locals.

its a bit rundown but i get the feeling the poor bastards that are stuck there appreciate the company and the cash infusion.

>>The place is a cesspool.

Well yes the two cap threads are cesspools after you trolled them up pro style. Still not as bad as Mike W coming in Phil bashing and praising Deadco. Step up your game some please.

A bit run down??? But I thought it was Beverley Hills where no crime happens at all???

Port Chester isn't a country club? What What???

*toke*

Mikew is the kindest zoner I have ever met, hands down. You would be so lucky to meet him.

*toke*

>>I have an odd feeing that Port Cheater is safer without you.

the idea of zip being dangerous is hilarious

He's just trying too hard to be relevant. Couldn't come up with a better insult because I dare have a differing opinion.

*toke*

>Port Chester isn't a country club? What What???

in comparison to passaic nj?  its not the hilton but it sure is the sheraton

good lord

sorry

Once again the zipster is 100% wrong....doesn't actually understand what a cess pool is...port Chester is a working class town...end of thread...come see for yourselves...it will b raging New Years and in da middle of March...

I'm with Jelly

Great place to see a show, IMO.

"its a bit rundown but i get the feeling the poor bastards that are stuck there appreciate the company and the cash infusion."

A bit run down? Poor bastards stuck there? Yeah sounds like a paradise...

*toke*

your rap is weak zip

till we meet again......

Those after shows at Garcia's are fun too. As it is now in 4,400 miles from there so it will be awhile until I return.

Another solid selling point for The Cap.

i aint buying any stickers you ice tray

Zip, can you please remove mikew's wang from your mouth.

Its hard to understand your issues with the cap on top of all this mess.

loved the Cap the one run I attended there... Nov. 5-7, 2015, Phil w/ David Nelson, Barry Sless, John Molo, Scott Law, and Jason Crosby

>>>loved the Cap the one run I attended there... Nov. 5-7, 2015<<<

Oh yeah, the 7th, I was able to get to that show because THANK YOU so much, MARKD heart

That might have been the first time I met you, garyfish.... I'm sure I made a fabulous impression right? Lol it was so kind of y'all (MarkD, Gary and friends) to allow me to tag along to your post-show activities when you guys realized that (somehow) I couldn't remember my plans for after the show..... That was very kind & honorable & I'll always appreciate it.

The Cap is a great spot to see a show.  They use to be more lax but it's still very enjoyable.  As far as sketchiness of the neighborhood goes, those motels up the road from TXR are seedier than anything I've seen in Port Chester.
