The democratic response to Court Packing question

Forums:

Just do what Trump admin & surrogates do when asked a question they don't want answer. Ask a question in return or give a statement. They haven't answered a tough question in 4 years.

Joe, What's your thoughts on packing the court if your elected?

Answer: You want to talk court packing let's talk about Donald Trump & Mitch McConnell partisan court packing the last 4 years that would be the envy of Henry Ford. Worst court packing in generations.

Joe, Why won't you release a SCOTUS list like Trump did in 2016?

Answer: We won't sell our potential scotus list for votes. We want to do better than that.

how many senate dems vote to confirm ACB?

all of them?

90%?

75%?

Like the last 2 SCOTUS confirmations, they are expecting close to 0% of Dems voting "aye."

zero questions about her ties to shell and the upcoming climate case involving shell.

The senate dems find themselves in a unique position to make th em selves all look good by voting no, while knowing she will get in either way.

The senate dems find themselves in a unique position to make th em selves all look good by voting no, while knowing she will get in either way.

my guess is definitely some dem senate vote for "aye"

Great time to be a dem senator right now. Literally have to do nothing and collect a fat pay check.

Repugs as well.

I'm pretty sure the D senators would rather be legislating than watching/participating in this sham.

>zero questions about her ties to shell and the upcoming climate case involving shell.<

Harris asked her about climate change. Barrett said she shouldn't comment because the science is debatable and she won't comment on issues that she may have to litigate.

at least mr. whitehouse used his time well.

i mean if they are goiung to participate in the charade....

>>how many senate dems vote to confirm ACB?

>>all of them?

>>90%?

>>75%?

Do you really consider that a possibility? I think zero, but certainly no more than one or two.

^Lindsey Graham said as much, though he was referring to the committee. I believe it will be the same for the full Senate.

"All Republicans will vote yes. All Democrats will vote no."

-Lindsey Graham

Three D Senators voted for Gorsuch:  Donnely (Indiana) Heitkamp (North Dakota) and Manchin.

Heidtkamp & Donnely lost the 2018 election to Republicans anyway.

None of their votes mattered.

The only D Senator to vote for Kavanaugh was Manchin.

Manchin is from W. Virginia.

His vote did not matter.

If you want Manchin instead of a Republican, you have to let him appease the racist morons who inhabit his state.

States like North Dakota, Indiana and West Virginia are pretty hopeless cesspools of Trumpers.

Chancellor, heat's not right about a lot of things political but at least he still feels strongly about the right to voice his opinion. It IS a democracy after all.

I just got my ballot yesterday and was gonna consult with him on the correct way I should vote, but decided to consult with someone who has winning strategies and doesn't paint themselves into a corner of irrelevance.

I look forward to seeing Joe Biden with a different Senate and then heat and I can be on the same team trying to move Joe to the left. First things first. Flush the turd on November 3rd.

Trump could pull her nomination if she says anything about craziness of the cases Trump might bring

Joe Biden transition team better have some progressives in government not the centrist cesspool of Bill Clinton & Obama admin holdovers.

He's got better than just Progressives. His veep is a goddamn Communist monster, and he's not far behind.

I know this because Pussy Grabber said so!

Biden gonna have a slow time if he wins the presidency if they can't flip the senate. Guy is literally going to do nothing lol. The system is designed to do pretty much nothing so he fits perfectly.

These guys get to sit around and play out this bulshit game and pretend to be important and collect American tax payer dollars. Weird that they even need to draw out the whole trial and charade. The outcome is already set

Oh, Zooey, that's an encouraging prediction. Possible? I hope so.

Just do what Trump admin & surrogates do when asked a question they don't want answer. Ask a question in return or give a statement.

why?

why not just clearly and honestly tell the american people the truthful answer to the question? we all know what the answer is.

"we are considering it and do not want to take the option off the table, nor commit to supporting it"

easy.

biden and harris are obviously trying to obscure the fact that they are actively considering a wildly unpopular decision, and they are doing a terrible job at it. their refusal to clearly answer the question has blown up on fox news, conservative social media pages, and trump is even making ads about it. its a political version of the streisand effect, in a way. if they would just give a clear answer, the issue would not be gaining nearly as much negative publicity.

"we are considering our options at this time and have not made a decision"

"we are leaning towards no but dont want to take our options off the table yet"

"yes"

"no"

if they would have just clearly and honestly told people that they are still examining the issue and are not ready to commit to a position yet i doubt the issue would have blown up as much as it has.

or hey, heres a wild thought...JUST ANSWER NO!!!!

its wildly unpopular, unfair and sets a dangerous precedent that could destroy the supreme court.

the supreme court has been the defender of slavery and white supremacy since its inception save for the warren court...

i agree daylight, they should just say no.

however the candidate could have answered plenty of the questions. what good does asking them, it was a repeat of the same playbook as the "I LIKE BEER" dude.

Haters gonna hate

as long as lovers love?

fuck that lady

Dianne Feinstein Heaps Praise On Lindsey Graham After Amy Coney Barrett Hearing

The two senators even shared a hug afterward. Now a progressive group is calling for her removal from the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Covid Barrett's real un-voiced answer is "I'd have to ask my husband."

Barrett answered all those questions exactly how she should have answered them: "I can't tell you now how I'd rule because I haven't seen the case."

Ultimately, isn't that what we want from a Supreme Court justice? She very well may be bullshitting, but she's saying that she won't automatically vote to overturn anything and everything to do with Roe v Wade or the ACA. She'll pass judgement based on the individual legal merits of the case.

This is exactly what we've seen Roberts do recently. He's shocked many people with his opinions, which are based on interpretation of laws rather than the underlying issues. Maybe, just maybe, she'll show that same level of legal impartiality.

I watched some of the hearings and was quite impressed with her. She's 48, has been a legal assistant for 2 SCOTUS judges,  scams a professor when she was in her 20s, was in a private practice, and has been a federal circuit judge. All this while raising a hockey team of kids, one with Downs Syndrome. She is also unflappable. I don't have to agree with her social views to see that she is worthy of respect.

Se is going to be a justice. Let's hope that she does a good job, because that's all we can do.

Maybe, just maybe, a judge with only three years experience who has never tried a case and is a member of the Handmaid cult shouldn't be on the SC.

At least we can still impeach Kavanagh.

I'm trying to find some light here. Don't harsh my mellow.

BK votes to approve...

all the Q's were simple and answerable.

- armed vigilantes / voter intimidation : Y, that is illegal

- peaceful transfer of power : Y, of course

by the way, not sure if someone under 50 has the combined life expericence, work exp, and historical knowledge/understanding to serve on the court.

Personally, I don't agree with confirming judge Barrett or packing the court.

Politically, judge Barrett should be confirmed

and

Joe should also grab his balls and admit "Damn right I'm gonna pack the Supreme Court if I have the leverage."

Although most of the questions seemed simple and answerable, they were too weak and we're going to elicit the same response she gave to them.

And no, I'd never vote to put her on the bench

She's a milf.

Joe has no leverage lol. The hearings are over. The republicans will push it through because the Dems are completely powerless over the situation.

>>  The republicans will push it through because the Dems are completely powerless over the situation.

No shit, Sherlock.

Is that your dramatic reading of "53 is bigger than 47"?

What part of "if you don't own the Senate you are fucked " did you miss in high school civics class?

To repeat myself:  Lots of us supported (and continue to supprt, duh) Biden because:

1) we want to get rid of Donald;

2) we want to maximize the chance of taking the Senate.

Both of those goals require centrists to vote for the Democrats, which means not nominating a Socialist from Vermont..

Math is hard.

But not that hard.

Steve,  high school civics is way beyond probably one third of the U.S.  population's comprehension capabilities,  In my opinion.

<<<>>>Both of those goals require centrists to vote for the Democrats, which means not nominating a Socialist from Vermont..

Math is hard.

But not that hard.

<<>>>>>

but your math failed miserably in 2016. centrists are holding the country back, just like the perfectly operational duopoly.

$2 for a side of ranch is also funny math.  Capitalism!

Jaz, your opinion is probably prett accurate.

pyramid, the left fucked the center in 2000 and 2016.  How'd that work out for the left?

p.s.

Some states don't matter.  e.g., Vermont, sure they elected a socialist, nobody lives there.

But if any state that matters should be able to elect a leftist, it would be California.

How do you explain DiFi?   She's pretty much Susan Collins.

racket you stalk my business page as well?

what fucking weird thing to do. you're trash.

weird steve -- i get it man, you've bought into the dem eatablishment, and will defend them at all costs.

the reality is the people, us, have no representation at the federal level, and both parties want to keep it that way.

sen. feinstein is a neoliberal. you've bought so hard into the lesser of two evils, that you refuse to acknowledge that the duopoly doesn't care who is in charge, as long as it's a dem or rep that obeys their corporate masters.

nothinf will eve change.

your party fought sanders harder than they did the ACB nomination. says it all tbh.

now he'll about how the dems "couldn't do anything" except play nice, praise the evil lady, hug their fellow corporate team members, and carry on while the american public suffers w/ no stimulus.

What are these things rhe Dems can do?

ask yourself, is this how the gop would handle the situation if the sides were flipped?

the answer is fuck no.

Well, they would cheat in any way possible. Is that what we want the Dems to do?

yeah, look where we are b/c the dems keep showing up w/ a knife to a gun fight.

Like it or not, the vast manly of the population doesn't think our system is inherently fucked, nor do they think that the Party candidates, in every election, are inherently evil.

You're in the fringe minority, ogkb. You're fantastic at pointing out every problem, but still are unable to outline any viable solutions that take into account that most people don't think like you. That's the general failing of the vocal far left.

I've asked you and others, dozens of times, for viable solutions. Nobody has anything to offer. It's just more complaining.

>your party fought sanders harder than they did the ACB nomination. says it all tbh. <

swish.

Swish? That's more of an air ball.

well, it's true.

2 bucks is a lot for ranch dressing.

Manfred, once again you have proven that all you can do is try to come up with fifth grade insults and speak like a child when having a conversation. If you expect to be treated with respect then maybe try treating others with it? Just a suggestion.

If you're only goal is to "get rid" of trump and go back to playing the same game with the senate and congress than you're just going through the motions and wasting more time and fishing back in the sea for the same answers with the same questions. The two party political system has failed in providing any kind of real change and one would think that the older generations understand that but they simply do not.

I don't have any kind of judgment for the older folks nowadays. I have accepted that many of the older generation are just waiting it out about to retire and collect SS and Medicare so those of you that are congrats and that's great. Just remember that some of us actually have to live in this world for the next 40-50 yrs. Even those that think they only have 10-20 years left in the workforce could be in for a rude awakening when trying to retire.

If you think Biden is going to get into office and magically save the country your in for a big surprise. The damage done is from years and years of corruption and greed based industrialized government and the life lines for the working class are disappearing. The US gov just shelled out more money than they ever have and the only way to act like they are closing the deficit is to take it back from us. Doesn't matter who gets in, the lower class communities will continue to suffer with their hard earner dollars. Only problems is they don't do anything with your money lol. They just hold it and say "SS is running out".

if you're on your way out and you're only in this for self gratification then maybe it might be a good idea to just step aside. Enjoy your days as a spectator.

If you're sittin pretty and can help then look to help those in need not political parties.

It's only true if you spin it that way. Yeah, the DNC didn't love Bernie. So what? It wasn't some Machiavellian scheme. Ultimately, the voters decided, and the DNC didn't cast those ballots. Bernie lost because he was less popular. Deal with it. ACB will get the nomination because the Republicans have the majority, not because the Dems didn't fight hard enough.

Oh, and look at Timpane, once again bitching and moaning about the problems and blaming. Yet, still unable to give even one viable solution.

bk is a real progressive.

jr is conflicted.

Timpy got "you're" and "your" wrong (twice) just to solidify his 100% wrong rating.

I'm a realist, ogkb. I'm not a whiner, blamer and complainer. As a result, I may not be your kind of Progressive because I don't do that shit, and I'm okay with it. I'd rather look for solutions that have a chance of working. I'll leave the crying and bitching to your type of Progressives. We're a rainbow.

I'd gladly cash in my dairy-free diet to get straight up sick on pies and custard at heat's pad.

and anyone who needs to dunk this ridiculous food in fuckin basic ass ranch dressing deserves to pay extra.

I'm guessing that his ranch is far from basic Hidden Valley.

Here in Vermont people love to dip their pizza in ranch. They learn it in school. From k-12, pizza is dipped in soups of dressing.

>>> 2 bucks is a lot for ranch dressing.  <<<

High quality ingredients cost more than a bottle might (I don't know how much that is, I don't buy bottled dressings) plus cost of time for assembly. Size of side portion? A lot to consider, JR.

>>>>>and anyone who needs to dunk this ridiculous food in fuckin basic ass ranch dressing deserves to pay extra.

Why can't people eat the way they want without being treated as less by fart sniffing foodies?

> your party fought sanders harder than they did the ACB nomination. says it all tbh. <

from the top of the keeeeeey, dunk!

>>> Why can't people eat the way they want without being treated as less by fart sniffing foodies? <<<

you can still get ranch with your dough at pizza hut, dominos, etc...

they've been doing that forever, so I'm told.

that ranch costs no more than 20 cents to make, including the small (of course Vermont compost friendly plastic cup).

sold at $2 is a 900% markup or 90% profit margin.

------------------------------------

bk is a real progressive.

<<jr is conflicted.

if being an unabashed super fan of Hillary makes me conflicted, then so be it.

Food Nazis suck.

What, you want ranch and a fork for your slice?

No slices!

ranch dressing is for suckers

anyone who eats it deserves to be cheated

Good pizza doesn't need dippin'.

shrimp sauce (white girl sauce) is the motts...

still haven't figured out why nobody's capitalized on that.

artisinal, for a dipper?

people would lose their mind.

$3

>>> Good pizza doesn't need dippin' <<<

agreed blues, but how you gonna choke down all that carbon

hahahaha.

fucking good stuff in here.

but racket and thod stalk and post.

losers.

<<<>>>Good pizza doesn't need dippin'.

agreed. vermonters love their dips tho. it's all the shitty pizza places fault. bk knows.

the fermented hot sauce is $2 as well. total rip off.

we also give out house made chili flake -- total rip off and it tastes stellar :)

haha

JR you know you pay 1000 plus dollars for a phone that costs around one dollar to make right? Fucking guys.

Even 20 cents for ranch dressing is too expensive for a cheapskate like Ned to pay for it.

Once again sad to watch a bunch of washed up middle aged losers stalk and complain about a guy who works his ass off to serve great food.

Once again sad to watch a bunch of washed up middle aged losers stalk and complain about a guy who works his ass off to serve great food.

3 hours a day is hardly working your ass off.

bk's spin is the only spin...

eyeroll.

so much oversimplification of a coordinated effort to get ANYONE other than the old dude from vermont, who...you know, actually had a movement.

the dems willingness to even show up and tke part in the charade is complicit.

the result is, we get the nazi version of the populist.

Lots of Lol material in here...

Lol

timpane, for the record, how old are you?

Oversimplification, Turts? Go take a look at your original dumbass post. I at least made some points. You just whine and complain.

Yeah, they should just boycott it. That'll show them!

Blue/Bleu Cheese is preferable to ranch for some of us.

jr is conflicted.

More creepy stalker questions from JR. These guys just don't learn lol

Alright, so I've had zero time to post recently and have just been in other headspaces, so sorry to just jump in, but BK man, you have a couple of non-sequitors that you use frequently that really don't mean anything. The whole "what solution do you propose?" line of question is retarded (sorry) for two reasons.

1) This is the fucking PhilZone, homey. We don't actually need to solve major world problems. We're, in general terms, a large band of merry stoners talking shit on a website, with some variation. I prefer for the experts in a field to find solutions to their relevant problems. Isn't that why they're hired? So for example, you hire (yes, hire) a congressman to represent the needs of a voting district, I expect that congressman to do his/her fucking job professionaly, 'cause that's what they're getting paid a damn good salary to do. I don't go to the doctor's office with solutions on how to heal myself when I need to be healed, either. I may think the doctor is doing a shitty job for several reasons (if I don't heal and I've followed the indications), but that doesn't mean I have to know the solutions, right?

2) What solution have you ever offered? Basically, it boils down to "I'm going to keep on doing the same shitty rinse-repeat cycle of voting for the centrist neocon/neoliberal dem and then hope that we magically win the house and senate and then hope that magically this merry bunch of centris neocon/neolibs all of a sudden become true representatives of the people". No offense, man, but the solution you offer is lazy as shit. It just involves walking to a voting booth once every four years and then patting yourself on the back about how you did the right thing, while Trump is in office anyways.

I've told you my solution over and over but you fail to recognize it as a solution. I've told you over and over that bullshit corporate politicians have validity thanks to votes. The less people actually vote for anyone, the less validity any of them have. By broadening the gap between the rulers and the ruled, you create the social tension that allows for true change to happen. Voting only ever achieves tweaking of policies and ideas. True change happens on the street, whether by large peaceful protests or by violent elements. No, I am not advocating for revolution, but rather a strategy of pulling back from politics (IF and only IF they don't actually represent the alleged voting block) and creating spaces for greater protest. By voting for the "lesser of two evils" you NEVER add to the solution, but rather constantly push in the direction of greater corporate rule, and therefore continuing to do so will never improve the problem.

Deny it all you want, but the DNC made a concerted effort to stonewall Bernie, NOT because the voting majority wasn't interested, but because the corporate minority was threatened by him. How many people actually even vote in primaries? They do not in any way represent the true will of the people, but when you have a corporate owned and run system, in true corporate strategy, you present the consumer with two choices that are apprently the only choices and lock them into that. So Bernie lost the primaries, sure. Was the playing field even? Did Bernie get a legitimate chance or was he stonewalled by the corporate elite as usual? You all can whine all you want about the Bernie bros crying over spilled milk, but the truth is he was the only shot there was at having a decent presidency with an actual change of paradigm. Even if the dems win the Senate and Biden gets the Presidency, who fucking cares? They're dominated by corporate whores anways, it WON'T matter. Just ask Dianne Feinstein and her good buddy Lindsay Graham.

And you all still ridicule anyone who disagrees with you but the fact remains: you corporate dem voters created Donald Trump and will now in all likelihood watch as you deliver the presidency to him again, or watch as an inept and weak Biden let's a multiplicity of forces tear at him while he tries to hold the country together and in all likelihood fails.

But hey, I may be wrong.

^ yawn

bernie was sooo last week...

some people can't deal when they don't get their way.

your condescending bullshit doesn't equate to having a conversation,

it's just a tired weak-ass troll.

>. By voting for the "lesser of two evils" you NEVER add to the solution,..

Survival is all about choosing the lesser of two evils. Idealists are killing democracy and the planet with that BS

Javs, you are advocating not voting.

That;s what Trump wants as well.

If it walks like a duck...

The left is now united in trying to defeat trump.  Anyone who is advocating for not voting for Biden is out of touch with reality in this country.  Every local, grassroots and national organization of which I am a member or supporter or even with which I am only aware is united in the fight to defeat trump and his nazi/white supremacist supporters/administration.  Even the "radical left" is part of the fight to defeat trump.

Dude who lives in another country and whose family proudly served in a fascist dictatorship is lecturing us on democracy.  lol.

yeah, i'm saying why take part?

take a stand...if its all fucking rubber stamped anyways?

but yeah they asked some questions, that didn't get answered. what good did that do? if they made a media spectacle of the sham proceedings maybe it helps?

i dunno, but again, roll over, ass up...

what's my original lame ass post? i didn't start this thread.

tod, go wash your underwear.

why take part?

Stop the coup.  Defend democracy.

Lol, the suburban generic rasta is giving lectures on morality now while openly advocating for supporting a global imperialist economy that destroys the planet and countries. It's ok right, Judah? So long as it's Afghani children that have to die and not anybody in your pretty little gas guzzling American suburb. How many square feet does your house have? How much yard? How many miles you travel regularly in your gas guzzler?

Lol, it's no wonder you defend Biden. Now go rub some tea tree oil in your dreads while you preach to someone who cares about how righteous you are.

Boycott corporate democracy. It's done.

Hey, just out of curiousity, anyone remember when Obama and the dems had control of the House and Senate? What exactly was it he accomplished in those two years in terms of any kind of progressive or forward thinking (non-corporate) policies?

And BTW: the coup already happened. You all voted in favor of it...

^ you got a lil over 2 weeks to convince people not to vote.

good luck with that, lol

Lol, the pro-trump, pro-uncle augusto, closeted fascist troll posing as a wanna be armchair che.   i didn't "openingly advocate for supporting a globalist imperialist econocy," lol!

The adults in the room, baby che, understand that you don't have to be pro-biden, a democrat or really anything else other than a decent human being in order to rise the fucking occasion and be anti-trump and anti-fascist.

Now go back to your thread waxing poetic about the goodle days allegedly growing up in chile during the pinochet fascist dictator, baby che.

my boots have been on the ground in the movement to uplift oppressed communities, fight for democracy and against fascists since you were in diapers.

baby che, do yourself and ourselves a favor, listen more, speak less, educate yourself.  Check out some of the following:

I will vote for Biden. I am choosing against Trump. (My state doesn't really matter in voting for pres but my vote means something going into the future). I am choosing the lesser of evils. The rigidity expressed by some about voting against someone who is actively tearing us into little tiny shreds with racism, dirty air, dirty water, people killed by the authorities being okay, etc. in favor of someone who can work with other lawmakers in coalitions to create a healthier and better future... your horse is high. Get off it.

If I were to vote for anyone else wouldn't I be voting for Trump? He and his VP make me feel vicious.

I like french fries dipped in Dijon mustard.

^ Impreza, just broke 200k!

its our "town car" (looks down nose)

have you ever tried the country dijon grey poupon? It's awesome.

i'm more of a spicy brown guy, myself.  preferably on pastrami or a kosher all beef dog, ya know, baby che.  not exactly, an ital diet, dip shit.  lol.

i replaced my 20 year old subaru with a honda a few years ago. lol.

you are a pro trump troll masquerading as a woke baby che wanna be.

Javs,

#1, you're bloviating

#2, when you used "retarded," I stopped reading. If you needed to apologize as soon as you typed it, you shouldn't have done it in the first place. It's pretty sickening, especially from someone who purports to be as woke as you. In my mind, it makes you no different than someone who throws around edit: racial/sexist/ethnic slurs and epithets.

Is there gas in the car? Yes, there's gas in the car.

Yes, Bss, there's Country Dijon Grey Poupon in the fridge as well. Quite a few different mustards, they all have their use.

"By broadening the gap between the rulers and the ruled, you create the social tension that allows for true change to happen. By voting for the "lesser of two evils" you NEVER add to the solution, but rather constantly push in the direction of greater corporate rule, and therefore continuing to do so will never improve the problem."

You sound a lot unlike those dip shit boogaloo pricks and every white supremacist who tried to prevent enfranchise or promote disenfranchisement of blacks, women, pocs, immigrants, and poor people.  Your persona sucks, ya nazi sympathezing baby che.  You really should just listen/read threads that deal with american politics and current events. you are out of touch with our reality. you should get out of your basement in wherever you really are and see that in the US these issues have real life consequences for people.

Vote like your life (and that of others) depends on it.

some supermarket delis have free self serve mayo and mustard packets

there's one near here that has 5 kinds of mustard, 4 kinds of relish, ranch and mayo packets

catsup sux

Javs has the luxury of not having to live in a Trump run USA. Most here don't. That matters a lot.

mayo on onion rings is a sin. Bloody awful.
Ketchup and Tapitia for me, please.

>catsup sux<

But how do you feel about ketchup?

I'm coining the term "neo-progressive." It's defined as elitist, ageist, anti-Semitic, abileist, and totally out of touch with reality.

I'm no neo-liberal, but damn, I'll take them over these neo-progressive jokers any day.

this whole adding "neo" to shit to sound smart or something is weird.

neo progressive would be an oxymoron.

neo (whatever), in the sense of politics, means capitalist-centric. (Yes, I understand that's a pretty broad generalization). It means to be (liberal, or conservative, or whatever,) in deference to capitalism. It means your social and political policies follow whatever economic markets dictate. It means a capitalist washed version of whatever you're neo-ing. That's really all.

Ha ha. I wasn't adding it to sound smart sounding. The term "neoliberal," in the amount it gets used here, is annoying, so I did a little riff on that. It also just so happens that one of the people who uses it the most is elitist, ageist, ableist and anti-Semitic. Maybe I'll stick with "fake progressive."

By the way, Bss, the prefix "neo" means "new," no more or less. Just because someone called the liberals, who are beholden to the almighty dollar, "neoliberals," it doesn't mean that the prefix means that.

BK thinks putting his unnecessarily racist slurs in quotes makes it ok. A classic old white guy syndrome.

Haha, I have the pleasure of living in an American run "third world". We've been dealing with the blunt end of your Trump/American values for 100 years, no difference at all under dems or reps.

BK, you've never answered a point I've made, so nothing new from you. But at least now you have a "never address the point" buddy. Maybe you two together can swap progressive credentials while standing in line to vote for Biden.

And Judit, lol, Biden's gonna work for your health? That's cute but naievity loses its cuteness after a certain point in life...

"Javs has the luxury of not having to live in a Trump run USA. Most here don't. That matters a lot."

Med, you oughta get out of the US sometime, go see what a American run global hegemony looks like in practice. You manage to keep the USA pretty by exporting all your war, trash and greed to the rest of the world. Like so many American things, your dem run status quo was a phony plastic reality.

I told you, Javs, I didn't read your post so I do t know what your point was.

Timpane, you are so out of your league with this that it's stupid. I know that you don't get it because you've thrown out the "r word" dozens of times. And yes, it's the same as all those other slurs.

Jav, I do believe that Biden/Harris's agenda will include a healthier approach to people, the planet (yes, I know, they're not ending fracking), relationships with the countries, personal health, THAN Trump's is or would be in the future if he's re-elected and that he'll work with others to improve the trajectory we're now on. You don't?

And I'm just fucking cute, Jav, because I have joie de vivre and a belief in others. My smile is real, the twinkle in my eyes is real, and those are part of my cute.

Javs, I can't leave the country right now because of Trump's incompetence. I've traveled plenty so don't need comments from your tower. Your response was to paint a macro broad brush about American global greed/dominance, which is topic worth discussion, but is irrelevant to this election. It's different here with Trump in charge. He's whacked. I'm surprised he hasn't done more damage or started an October war.  I am truly afraid for this country if he gets 4 more years. You can laugh and point if Trump wins; you've made it very clear you want the USA to burn down.

This is literally the first thing that google came up with

ne·o·lib·er·al

/ˌnēōˈlibərəl/

adjective

relating to or denoting a modified form of liberalism tending to favor free-market capitalism.

So anyways

BK Remember when you thought the Fourth of July was a celebration for white privilege?

President Trump has called on armed paramilitary militias to "monitor" polling places. He has stated that he will not accept a losing result. There was an active plot to mix all and kill the governor of Michigan.

That's the fucking America we live in, and it has to stop. At this point, if there's a revolution, it's going to be by those militias, behind Trump.

Sitting it out on philosophical grounds isn't a fucking option.

What the fuck!

>>BK Remember when you thought the Fourth of July was a celebration for white privilege?

Dude, lol, I guess you totally misunderstood me on that, just like you are on this.

I LOVE vegemite smeared lightly on a heavily buttered hardy slice of dark  bread, its a bit of heaven

if your a fan of corporate salt

although I haven't met a salt I don't love yet

joy is not invited to the pot luck

I have witnessed, with my own eyes, Vegemite consumed in ways that would inspire shock and awe.

I'm at the party wondering what besides the obligatory platter of vegetables that came with the ranch dip that I can use the dip besides the wegetbles!

Chips? Tortilla chips?

Deli slices cheese plate?

Lotta variables involved.

Who's watchin'?

Who's spread is it?

How many folks want the dip?

Is attacking it early to get your fill the plan ?

Or wait till they had their fill and the rest is ALL yours!! Love it when that happens!

Any finger food at a soiree are susceptible to dips

"wait,wahtcu call me?"

I would agree you are often misunderstood.

Then again, I'm not the one calling a paw a poor.

You see, Ned, that's the thing - things may have changed in the US but they didn't change radically anywhere else, except for the massive validation of the far-right around the world. But nothing's changed in Chile in terms of economy or our 100% submission to the almighty American dollar.

Last October, one year ago yesterday, massive uprisings began in Chile. Throughout it all in Chile, everyone knew that if shit went too far, the military would come in, bomb everyone and take over the government. We know this for a fact because, well, it's happened before. You know why it's happened? Because everytime the economic situation in a third world country doesn't benefit its American corporate overlords, you all just go in and change the government. Who cares if it's a bloody dictatorship or a friendly economy, so long as the do master's bidding.

So that tension, that uncertainty, that fear you feel on the streets? Welcome to it. That's what we always feel in the third world thanks to your government's policies - equally bad during Clinton, W, Obama and Trump, no change at all. So yeah, sorry that it sucks but guess what? Your lilly-white normalcy that you felt before Trump took over, was a bullshit lie. It is massive warfare, pollution and social inequity in action that allows you your "best-in-the-world" lifestyle. But the rest of us pay the price. So I'm sorry if I don't feel a lot of compassion for what's happening in the US, something something, Malcolm X, chickens coming home to roost.

Now maybe you all should consider an option where you find a way to live your lives without socially, economically and ecologically destroying the rest of the planet?

And get rid of idiots like the conquering kitty cat of judah, who I can guarantee never had to run away to far Asia to get away from a dictator, who's never had any relatives that were picked up repeatedly in the night and tortured for being the manager of a metals company. Never had a dear friend who was pinched and tortured and jailed for 10 days for looking like a metal-head in the 80's. None of you all walk around downtown and then see a plaque on a building that says "350 women were tortured and raped in this building". No, you all just have pretty clean streets where everything work.

So suck it up y'all, I regret to inform you that your lifelong quest for comfort and safety was a bullshit lie that you were sold. Now, you are starting to pay the bill for the comforts you have so readily enjoyed. Next step, either Trump continues to make clear the failures and corruption of the current system, or you get Biden trying to play unifier to a bunch of redneck racist militias and failing miserably at it while the country continues its descent into factionalism.

Do I want to see America burn? No, definitely not. Not Glacier National Park, not California, not Utah. I don't want any of the kind or good people to suffer. I don't want any of the amazing universities to burn, etc. I just want to roast marshmallows on the bonfire of your corporate military economic model. But I'm sure nothing I do will bring about that result. But Donald Trump is bringing it closer everyday. Just ask China...

Oh look, more long paragraphs, mansplaining to the entitled and ignorant Americans what is wrong with our system and country, and telling us the only way out is to overturn it.

By the way, your elitist, ageist and misogynistic post to Judit was super cute.

the dems fought bernie harder than the ACB nomination.

the dnc hates bernie more than trump. why? b/c the dnc/biden is closer in ideology to trump than bernie -- bernie would have actually changed things -- i know, bk thinks that would have been impossible so he's defending anything neoliberal -- like a real progressive lol.

so when biden changes nothing, and the yas queen brunch liberals go back to brunch, you can blame the neds/thods/ras (that guy eats shit off the ground like dogs, right?)/weird steve's and all the other neoliberals who spread lies about bernie in the primary for the resurgence of racist corporate rule in 2024 and beyond.

good work.

And Javs, if you think that American hegemony is the big problem in the world you are being myopic. The underlying cause of both neoliberal and neoconservative policies in Europe and the Americas is Christian Hegemony. Until that gets addressed, on a very large scale, nothing will change.

If you don't know what Christian Hegemony is, I strongly suggest that you educate yourself. It drives neo economics. It drives foreign policy. It centers power and wealth in white, Christian males.

<<<>>>>If I were to vote for anyone else wouldn't I be voting for Trump?

no, you'd be voting for that person --- not trump.

that logic is horrifically stupid. it's the corporate dems main strategy of vote shaming people into voting for the status quo.

biden stands for nothing. he's running to fulfill his own personal vision of a perfect and fantastic life, he deserves this he tells himself. he's joe fucking biden. he will work to serve his corporate masters (which is why they took banning fracking off the table). you feel good about that?

obama catered to all corporations -- biden is lining up to do the same. wall street got their candidate and they're laughing allllll the way to the bank.

is biden a better human than trump? of course.

the bar is so low though, that it means nothing. just being better than trump isn't enough.

No, ogkb, I don't defend anything neoliberal. I do tend to focus on truths, not half truths and lies.

cool.

the only people that have spread lies are the people here who were against bernie in the primary.

Dude, that's a Trumpish statement to right there.

what?

weird steve is still spreading lies.

neoliberals told many lies here on this site all during the primary.

Hey Heater, can You show the group Your Bernie tats?

BK, it was this statement of Judit's which I found cute:

"in favor of someone who can work with other lawmakers in coalitions to create a healthier and better future"

To which I say hardy-har-har. Joe Biden is working to create a healthier and better future is highly doubtful to me. The corporate genie has been let out of the box.

I appreciate you making reference to Christian Hegemony and will research it more as a concept proper. I can imagine the central ideas of it, and imagine it makes sense. After all, European domination, global millitarization, colonialist economies and the various Christian churches have been intimately tied throughout western history. But I haven't heard of it as a concept and will research it, thank you.

I recently finished a biography about Baruch Spinoza and it talked about the conflict between the oppressive Calvinist church in 17th century Amsterdam, versus the progressive/liberal push by the mercantile class. The mercantile class was banking from the Jewish communities ties throughout Europe, thereby being able to avoid inquisition laws about importing good made by Jews from Spain and Portugal. In that particular scenario, it was the capitalist core that was moving the globalist view forward. Today, I feel like that is also true, in that God is now Money, and while the Christian domination continues to be real, anyone can play in the game so long as they are willing to get their hands dirty. I'm thinking semi-nomadic tribes become international moguls who control oil sources, or how China went from essentially an agrarian economy to second largest economy, etc.

But again, I'll look into the Christian Hegemony concept, read a little and get back to you. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

And I'm not mansplaining anything. Come down to Chile and I'll be glad to take you to some of the more famous torture sites, maybe even talk to someone who lived it. I'm not mansplaining what America does, I'm telling you that you all don't live it. Some of you have travelled more or less, but here the after-effects of the dictatorship are ever present and basically, without the US the dictatorship wouldn't have had the firepower or support to get off the ground or stay alive.

good day for bolivia at least.

Yeah, we'll see how long the US lets them keep this government. The socialists in Bolivia now control congress, senate and executive. I get the feeling some folks might not like that.

Oh, right, you all remember the coup in Bolivia like a year ago, right? US backed? Put a far-right puppet in office for a while?

Good times...

>>>>>the only people that have spread lies are the people here who were against bernie in the primary.

No lies; just my opinion that he couldn't beat Trump. Anyway, he dropped out before I could vote.

^true. you just said he was too old and angry.

which is funny coming from you b/c you kinda get bent out of shape when somebody calls somebody else too old.

<<<>>>Oh, right, you all remember the coup in Bolivia like a year ago, right? US backed? Put a far-right puppet in office for a while?

Good times...

yeah, the neoliberals here supported that.

>>>>>^true. you just said he was too old and angry.

Show me where I said that - don't think I did.

Also, there's a difference between insulting someone because they're old and saying they are too old to do x, y, or z.

oh you def did, but who cares.

is biden too old, surf?

>>>>>>Never had a dear friend who was pinched and tortured and jailed for 10 days for looking like a metal-head in the 80's.

Jean jacket with patches?

I would have preferred a younger candidate but this is the choice we have.. Personally, I'm too old to be president and have to deal with super high stress 24/7. I hope Joe is up to it  -  for 4 years anyway.

Joe Biden is working to create a healthier and better future is highly doubtful to me<<<

I have no illusions about "the establishment"; however, I do hold out hope Joe Biden's "better angels" will rise to the surface and guide him forward to navigate the waters in such a way that may find meaningful systemic reform.  I hardly holding my breath, but I do think the potential still exists.   The option does exist for him to simply go "belly up" and approach everything as if he were the narrator in House of Cards and simply speak the truth and expose the system for what it is BECAUSE he was a player.  Again, not holding my breath.

>> So that tension, that uncertainty, that fear you feel on the streets? Welcome to it. That's what we always feel in the third world thanks to your government's policies <<

That's it, right there. We have avoided the wide fluctuations, insurrections and coups because of our Constitution and our three (I would argue four: free press) pillars of government. Checks and balances, with the military looking outside the borders, not within. You want to call it a lie? Go for it, but it's your opinion. You are definitely a "my house looks better if yours burns down" kind of person. I wish you and your family well, Javs, but do not accept your projections. Someone has to be the house on the hill.

^Pure White privileged ignorance spitting all over the place in that post. Really just smells of naive bullshit.

>Hey, just out of curiousity, anyone remember when Obama and the dems had control of the House and Senate? What exactly was it he accomplished in those two years in terms of any kind of progressive or forward thinking (non-corporate) policies? <

i think we gave wall st. some more tax cuts?

Ned, Chilean democracy is modelled on American democracy. We have the exact same pillars. But you know what realy destabilizes those pillars? When a global superpower starts putting money, weapons and training into the hands of people who want to destabilize thise pillars. It's funny/sad how you implicitly think those pillars are so important to Americans but not to the rest of the world because we're...what? Too savage? Too uncivilized? You act as though Americans are so righteous that only you guys ca maintain those pillars, but the truth is your govt goes out of its way to destabilize those pillars at its convenience all the time.

Your Pax Americana ain't free, and everyone else pays the price. So yeah, if you feel it shake a littlee, well don't mind if we chuckle. We're used to earthquakes everywhere else...

You're lost, Timpy. It must be hard being you.

But Turtle, this time is going to be different, you'll see. The dems are gonna take back the senate and introduce healthy, earth friendly humane, non-corporate friendly policy. You watch, this time is for real...

Ned, Timpy was right, I was just being nice and trying to explain why.

ned sounds like trump.

>> . It's funny/sad how you implicitly think those pillars are so important to Americans but not to the rest of the world because we're...what? Too savage? Too uncivilized? <<

I never said that, or even implied it. Please stop with the projections and gaslighting. My point is they have worked, mostly, to sustain political stability here. Again, the cloak and dagger shit can be discussed separately, and that shit is done by all global powers in different forms. I'm not justifying it, just saying it isn't exclusive to the USA/CIA et al.

Actually, pheater, you have been sounding more and more like Trump every day.

When Timpane is out of his league, he resorts to screaming "white privilege" or "old white dudes."

Timpane is often out of his league. He also freely uses the word "retarded," and thinks it's okay. Talk about privilege.

<<<>>>But Turtle, this time is going to be different, you'll see. The dems are gonna take back the senate and introduce healthy, earth friendly humane, non-corporate friendly policy. You watch, this time is for real...

haha. right?!

the duopoly won. game over.

we'll go back and forth between corporate styles of governing -- gop and dem. and the neoliberals will love it. of course they will. as will the gop. both sides yell when the other is in power, but that's it b/c they already know they both won, they both serve the same corporate masters, and they both aim to keep the people down. people in the usa will continue to die from not having healthcare, people will continue to go bankrupt for the same reason, all in the richest country in the history of the world.

and proud boy neoliberals like thod have the audacity to post bernie quotes.

funny stuff.

i think ned has told more corporate media taking point lies about bernie in the primary than even weird steve. that's saying something.

ned's daddy knows biden. lol.

daddy had to tell ned who to vote for.

remember how the corpratists were openly saying they'd vote trump if bernie was the nominee?

telling.

^ I didn't see anyone here say they'd vote for Trump over Bernie. I certainly didn't.

>>> and proud boy neoliberals like thod have the audacity to post bernie quotes. <<<

bernie is voting biden

bernie understands what's at stake

you don't

incel is gonna incel I guess, smh

remember when pelosi willingly signed off on all of trump's military budgets, but said no to more stimulus for the people.

thod fought against real change during the primary.

but now thod cares.

fucking joker.

ned, many business leaders and DNC insiders were quoted as saying that. i can google it if you want...

>>> thod fought against real change during the primary. <<<

who are you talking to?

you're falling apart man

OK turtle, but obviously that doesn't apply to everyone.

I think pheater has twisted people's observations last spring regarding Bernie's electability (Bernie vs Trump) as either support for Trump and/or succumbing to the corporate masters. Neither are correct, of course. Political pragmatism and reality based conclusions shouldn't be twisted and held against someone.

Bill Gates Open to Voting Trump, Worried about Warren's Tax Plan

https://nationalinterest.org/blog/buzz/bill-gates-open-voting-trump-worr...

Oh, I'm still waiting for someone to tell me about the amazing things the Dems did when they had control of both houses and the executive. Anyone?

ACA...a needed first step. Plus, he rescued an economy in a tailspin.

https://www.brookings.edu/research/president-barack-obamas-first-two-yea...

"During his first two years in office, President Barack Obama and his Democratic allies in Congress compiled a substantial record of policy accomplishment—the economic stimulus, bringing the financial system back from the brink of collapse, rescuing two automakers, universal health care, sweeping reform of financial regulation, and major changes in student loan programs, among many others.  Nevertheless, the political standing of both the president and congressional Democrats slipped steadily through much of this period, and the voters administered a substantial rebuke in the November 2010 midterm elections. While some contests remain unresolved, the Democrats have lost at least six Senate seats, at least ten governorships, and more than sixty House seats, the most for a mid-term election since 1938.  By any measure, this is a substantial and consequential expression of public discontent..."

But, whatever, right? His next 6 years were met with stern resistance from the Senate.

I'll take a stab at answering Javs' bullshit and loaded question, with the only answer he'll accept:

Obama was a centrist neoliberal, and those beliefs guided his policies. As a result, and although he was able to get policies through in the first 2 years, the things he did were along those lines. They weren't progressive and they didn't do anything that Progressives wanted. Obama and his Democratic majority Congress were Party Democrats, which perpetuated an evil system that continued to screw over the working class.

See, it's easy to give people stupid answers to stupid questions.

yes i agree the aca was a good 1st step.

even though the insurance co.'s were kept intact..

yes the senate was stacked after the 1st 2 years.

Thanks for speaking for me, BK, but I'll take it from here. See, I'm capable of addressing the points people make. You should try it some time.

Thanks for sharing that list, Ned. Universal Healthcare? Wait, was the ACA passed in the first 2 years? Is the ACA what is meant by Universal Healthcare? If so, I'll give that as a solid policy advancement. I'm not sure what reform of financial regulation means, it could go in any direction. The changes in student loans programs were likely positive, though I doubt they hurt that industry in any way.

Yeah, other than that, it sounds like a fairly laundry list of neoliberal accomplishments, essentially shovelling huge piles of money into large industries, which the ruling elite than shovel mostly into their pockets.

You may think it's a stupid question, BK, but a) it just shows clearly that all the dems ever do is about 75 to 90% pro-corporate and b) you're a dick anyways, we're all used to that by now.

>> I'm not sure what reform of financial regulation means <<

Dodd-Frank. It made the banks more accountable in their lending practices, but they remain "too big to fail".

>> Wait, was the ACA passed in the first 2 years? <<

Yes, and that's why they lost congress in 2010.

Just to be clear as to why I asked the question in the first place, it's to address this pipe dream that you and many other board members have of a) Joe winning, then b) flipping the Senate and then c) that the dems are actually going to take a more progressive tack in general rather than take advantage of the massively pro-corporate conditions. Think about it: if Joe wins, the cultural backlash from the far right and all that space between the centrist right and the far right, is probably going to be big. It will have repercussions on political levels, especially with so many judicial branch members enforcing Trump law, and definitely repercussions on other interesting fields. Do you honestly think Joe is capable of keeping that center together? That is a long bet. His only play to keep that faction happy is to keep on trucking down the same old corporate path. That will ultimately provide satisfaction to the overlords on both sides of the aisle, thereby achieving the task of appeasing the center, while really only just feeding the corporate machine.

But hey, it could work out differently, we'll see.

And I only called you a dick because you called my question stupid. It's childish, sure, but I just don't see why you so frequently need to go there to express yourself. Anyways...

I gave the exact and only answer you were looking for. Christ, it's exactly what you just said in your second to last sentence.

I don't answer your "points" because  there's no reason to. You are right and anyone who disagrees is wrong. The fucked up thing is that I generally agree on the causes of the problems. It's the solutions that we disagree on. I find your proposed solutions so god damn ridiculous that they don't warrant responses. It's just useless blather.

Call me whatever names you want. It doesn't change the fact that you are elitist, ageist, anti Semitic, and ableist. You're the one who constantly resorts to name calling.

Haha, ok. But you can't deny that the grand majority of that list that Ned published is just shoveling money into corporate pockets.

You can call me ageist, ableist, socialist, anti-semitic, whatever you want. You have literally thrown every single slur of that nature at me in the last few months and yet nothing sticks. Really, I'm just a bee in your bonnet that won't let you sit back on your butt and feel contented with your Joe Biden vote. Fucking A, man, throw the guy a fundraiser for all I give a shit. But don't walk around trying to act all high and might about defending the dems, when all your doing is just continuing to move the corporate machine right along.

But yeah, vote Biden. Feel good about yourself. Like I've told you before, tell yourself whatever you need to get through the night...

the Affordable Care Act was written by corporate healthcare lobbyists.

america is wild. even in 2020, liberals will campaign, fundraise, and support neoliberal politicians who are bought and sold by any or all of the mega corporate donors, but especially those of healthcare interests, to go so far as to say people don't want m4a and unions don't want m4a, all during a pandemic.

conditioned. careless. no empathy. this is good enough. trump was perfect for these people.

the bare bones, bottom of the barrel, crumbs are good enough compared to trump they say.

they were against our only real shot at what they say they suooort. too funny.

No, I don't deny it. Why would I?

Those aren't slurs. You are all those things, at least through your Zone writings.

I've stated over and over that until Congress becomes solidly Progressive, nothing is going to change. It's clear that you don't understand that. In local, state and Congressional races I vote for people with those ideas and ideals. Without that,  o president can do much of anything lasting. Executive Orders don't mean shit in the long run. Congress makes the laws. They sure as hell aren't passing anything overly progressive.

Your infatuation with the mystical power of the President is kind of strange. It shows your lack of understanding of our system and the American psyche.

You're absolutely denial of the role of the president just shows how totally unwilling you are to actually look at this issue. You want to throw your vote at Biden and pretend it doesn't matter, because, hey, how much power does the President of the most powerful nation in the world really have? Do you realize how dumb that question is?

And BK, you are a really, truly poor judge of character or are just willing to throw around the nastiest bullshit available to avoid the fact that you're talking nonsense. I've been posting on the zone for 14 years and somehow you're the only one that ever noticed that I was an elitist, ableist, anti-semite, ageist, socialist son of a bitch. Uh, get your reality tunnel checked, brah. You're multiple channels off of reality. Maybe Biden will solve that for you, though.

>>> But yeah, vote Biden. Feel good about yourself. Like I've told you before,

tell yourself whatever you need to get through the night... <<<

Let's all consult with Javs on who to vote for. He knows a wasted vote when he sees it.

neds dad has coffee w/ biden.

^ wrong..... his former chief of staff, former US Senator and current co-chair of transition team.

Let's hear about Your Dad Heater...

Is He Ridin with Biden?

another bizarre post from rrg.

When have I ever used that word, Bk? Your so white privi that you think it's ok to use racist slurs in quotes. Unfortunately, you guys just still don't understand what white privilege is so it offends you.

Biden still hasn't won anything yet. If anybody is counting on the polls then once agin you may be disappointed. Pretty much it comes down to PA. Whoever wins PA will likely win the election. From what I see living right across the bridge I would say Biden is in trouble

Does you dad have a Bernie tattoo also?

Is it on his forehead like yours might be...

You guys have fun in your sandbox shooting at each other saving the world, OK?

what does  neointellectual mean anyway...

you guys are so smart.  Your mirror loves you

i still thinks it's funny you tripled down on your "all lives matter" comment.

"somehow you're the only one that ever noticed that I was an elitist, ableist, anti-semite, ageist, facist-pretending-to-be -a-socialist son of a bitch."

Fixed that for you, baby che/boogaloo bro.

Plus, we've all noticed.  Listen/read more.  Speak/type less.

well litterally, all lives do matter dipshit

you disagree?

if that makes me a racist or a fool  - well peace be with you

"The mercantile class was banking from the Jewish communities ties throughout Europe,"

Really? Tell us more, herr professor.

"without the US the dictatorship wouldn't have had the firepower or support to get off the ground or stay alive."

So that was the right time for your pops to decide (sounds like choice, opportunity, lack of obstacles = privilege) to continue the "honorable' family tradition of the "diplomatic corp" and volunteer for your dear uncle augusto's fascist regime?

And that was while you were being chauffeured to private school while your nanny dusted your family's treasured imperialist feathered hats and sabers?

Tell us more about the horrors of living and fighting against fascism, baby che.  Please. We could never understand. lol.

You are privileged and are the product of a privileged life, but you are too obtuse to acknowledge it.  dense.

So many assumptions to ease your simple mind, baby che.

Meanwhile, we, here, will go to the polls, if we have not already, and vote out trump and your fascist friends.

So many people have fought and died for too long for the right to vote.

bzz. bzz. meow, baby che.

We should stop worrying about voter suppression and people exercising their right to vote. In fact, those who are suppressed are actually helping to bring down the corrupt system. Fuck it, everyone's votes should be suppressed, and a new form of government, that is really for the people, can finally come to power.

Because, you know, that's how it works.

Looks like real Chilleans will be going to the polls even sooner than us.

Churches burn during violent protests in Chile

Sun, October 18, 2020, 11:28 PM PDT

Tens of thousands of Chileans protested in the streets of Santiago over the weekend demanding government reform. It marked the one-year anniversary of mass protests that left over 30 dead and thousands more injured. What started as largely peaceful rallies on Sunday (October 18) soon devolved into violence as demonstrators threw rocks and Molotov cocktails at police, who answered with water cannons and tear gas. Even churches were set ablaze by vandals as rioting and looting gripped the city by nightfall. Earlier in the day people began gathering at demonstrations downtown and cities throughout Chile, which gained in size and fervor as the afternoon wore on. Many protesters waved signs and homemade rainbow-colored banners asking Chileans to vote "yes" on a referendum to scrap the country's dictatorship-era Constitution. That was a key demand of last year's protests, which raged on for nearly two months as people across the country called for reforms in healthcare, education and the pension system. And as the violence resurfaced late on Sunday evening, Chile's Interior Minister Victor Perez praised the peaceful rallies while blasting the late-night mayhem. He instead called on Chileans to settle their differences by voting in the upcoming referendum on October 25.

I like ceviche and Andes mints.

I voted for Biden and Harris.  This machine fights fascists.

Javs, will you be voting in the referendum or will you be violently protesting?

>>>>> we've all noticed.  Listen/read more.  Speak/type less.

javs is the 1% in his country.  the struggle is real.

Ah, the zero dimensional checkers player strikes again.
With more zero dimensional analysis. Fun times at Viva.

why does timpane continually bring my name up when i'm not a part of the conversation? it's immature and stalky.

Oooooh, I see you all brought the pitchforks out, nice. And conkering kitteh cat is growling! Grrrrr!!!!

BK, if you need help deciding who to vote for, I'll be glad to try to help you out. I understand thinking for yourself is difficult for you, but I'm a teacher so maybe I can walk you through the process once for free.

Oh, Juday, you are so simple-minded, it's great. You really ought to try to read sometime. Are we judging each other now by our father's actions? Or our father's fathers? How far back does that go? First off, you have no idea what my father did or didn't do, but explaining that to a creature like you is a waste of time, so I won't bother. But I will say that at a moment when there was absolutely nothing going on on the Zone, a call was made for art and I put something out there. Amateur at best, no doubt. Funnily enough, a coincidence I'm sure, at that point the Zone really started reviving a bit and some new and old faces started popping up again, which was cool. I've been posting on the zone for 16 years and have weathered all sorts of dummies like you. I'm content knowing that even the people here who like to talk shit with or at me (BK, for example) know who I am, to some extent. You clearly have no idea, so g'wan witcha ya' bad self, rude boy, do your 'ting.

Oh, also, I never had a chauffer. That would kick ass, but no, didn't happen. I actually went to public school for all 8.5 years I lived in the states during school age, and then went to a low rung state university, haha. Oh, I worked 30 hours a week while doing that, btw, cleaning toilets, slopping burgers, etc. You see, us foreigners aren't allowed to work off campus, so we gotta find our jobs on campus. Good times. Also, I wasn't born in 1973 when Pinochet took power, but that would require reading comprehension on your part, and lol, we've seen how you do with that.

Further, I've never claimed to be fighting fascism or anything for that matter. All I've ever said is that you and the rest of the neo-moderates on this board and elsewhere are suckers that have been duped into thinking you're doing something good, when really you're just doing the same brainless bullshit you've always done. Basically, the game is, a group of old rich dudes got together and decided that they should rule and to make it legit they would present themselves as candidates. To consolidate the deal, you create a cultural programming that tells you that you have to vote and if you don't you're bad, so now you are locked into voting for rich dude 1 or rich dude 2. But hey, like I said to BK, whatever gets you through the night.

First long post of at least 3 to come! :)

Second, the church that was burned down the other day. Ah, God bless the holy flames! I guess you would have had to read the article to know that the church that was burned down is the church of the police. That's where they go to get blessed by a priest before walking out and oppressing the people. The unholy bond between church and armed forces in Chile (cops are a branch of the armed forces) has deep historic ties. Funny though, last year that same church was set on fire and footage from the scene showed cops removing furniture the day before and then the day of, protecting masked vandals who went in, set fire and walked out under protection.

So either a) it was the violent anarchists, in which case, God bless them, or b) it was the lying ass cops trying to justify their violence.

Good times.

Breakfast pause and then when time allows I'm going to dissect how stupid you have to be to consider yourself a Rasta or associate in any way shape or form with Rastafarianism.

So where was I? Right. Rastas.

A religion started by a conman trying to hustle some cash out of a bogus business venture, points to a monarchical tyrant who keeps slaves in his palace until the day he dies as the second coming of the messiah. That tyrannical monarch had proclaimed himself (lol) the King of Kings, based on some semi-bogus, non-confirmable link to having been born to one of the consorts of Solomon, haha. Then it becomes a religion of homophobic, sexist, long-haired pot heads. Haile surely would've been down with the homophobia and sexism at least.

And then a bunch of 20th century whiteboy, disenfranchised from their society's predominant religions for a variety of reasons, but still needing to cling to the flimsy life reason of the feeble minded: God, decide to pick up the mantle of rastafarianism and in all likelihood made their way their through pot smoking rather than some spiritual search.

So Judah, Lion. Get a grip. You worship a human rights violating, slave owning dictator, who proclaimed himself some grand and noble title and you bought it. How does that gel with your Judaism anyways? You are Jewish, right? I ask only because you jump out of your chair anytime I say the word Israel or Jewish. Don't Jews believe that the Messiah has not yet arrived? So do you then believe that Haile Sellasie was the messiah? Or not? Because if the answer is yes, well, lol. And if the answer is no, then you're not actually a Rasta and your Judah and Lion bullshit is cultural appropriation.

So by the same stupid-ass PhilZone, guilty by association bullshit that you like to sling around, you are a homophobic, sexist, tyrant worshiping dupe who thinks that voting for Biden is doing good in the world, rather than just the same old auto-pilot bullshit he's been doing his whole life. But yeah man, oops, I mean, Ja, Mon, g'wan back to listening to old school reggae and grooming your dreads, Brother. And remember, Vote Biden!

Your idea of "free thinking" is thinking the way that you do. You are one of the few here who is putting people down for who they choose to vote for, or not. Do you not recognize that?

I hate to break it to you, but you don't know more, you're not better, you're not more woke and aware, and your philosophy isn't the only correct one. I sure as hell hope that you keep that shit out of the classroom.

Oh, and one last point for people who actually like to learn about things instead of flinging bullshit around for the hell of it.

The Jewish quarter in Amsterdam in the 1600's is certainly one of the more fascinating time/space vectors in human history, IMO. Jews were fleeing left and right from Spain and Portugal because of the Inquisition and Amsterdam, in an oddly liberal moment and decision, allowed them all in. They formed a thriving community there, very prosperous, which put the ruling (Dutch) oligarchs at odds with the Calvinist church. The oligarchs were psyched for business and didn't really care who it came from. The Calvinists, otoh, wanted to shut down every religious competition, especially the Jews.

It is in this context that Bento/Baruch/Benedicto Spinoza is born. The son of refugee Jews, he is considered a golden child of his community. Born into freedome, he is circumcised, studies Hebrew and the Torah openly and is raised fully in the Jewish tradition. That's why his community reacts so violently when at age 21 he starts disavowing Jewish ideas of what G*d is, the authority of the Torah (and the Bible) and the nature of good and evil. Eventually, it gets to a point where his community expels him (Cherem, I think it's called) giving the harshest sentence ever pronounced to a member of the Jewish community at that time. He is expelled from all Jewish life, forbidden to have any dealings with any Jews, etc.

His life continues to get interesting from there - he was unabated. But it is interesting to note how dogmatic people are. In all times and all ages, even the people running away from persecution will turn around and turn the pitchforks on the person among them who dares speak ideas that are unorthodox and go against the grain of the mass-mentality. There's a lesson in there, maybe.

Anyways, tune in, turn on, drop out. You've been sold a bullshit lie. There is no government, there is no church.

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

Love is the Law, Love under Will.

I haven't put anyone down, BK. I've just expressed my opinion that I think that you've been duped, and that you're vote only serves to further advance a corporate agenda and in the process validate far-right populism.

You're entitled to your thoughts.

Put Spinoza in the context of Christian Hegemony and look at it through that lens.

You are inherently anti Semitic, and you are so close minded that you'll never recognize it or change it. You're a product of your culture, and Chile is widely recognized as the most anti Semitic nation in Latin America.

Is it? Where'd you get that tidbit from?

I'm anti-semitic because I like Spinoza?

I read up on your Christian Hegemony, nothing new there. Rich old white men are generally Christian and heavily influenced by that. Duh?

I think you're just prejudiced against Latinos and me talking about your precious government triggers you. Stop letting your prejudices get in the way of our conversarion, BK. Third worlders are allowed an opinion too my little imperialist.

Are you prejudiced against all Latinxs or just South Americans or just Chileans or what? I'm glad we finally got to the root of things here...

Dude, what the fuck is wrong with you? Own your shit. I'm clearly not the only one who sees it. You reek of anti Semitism. You discount it because Jews point it out. You have displayed overt ageism. Your use of the "R word," in 2020, is pure ableism. And, you  are an ideological elitist.

You ain't spinning this back on me. You're a close minded and bigoted fellow, who hides behind pseudo intellectualism. You'll never grow out of it because it's part of your dogma.

Hey man, that sucks that you're prejudiced against Latinos. I understand that living in Vermont you probably don't see a lot of LatinX people, so to have one challenging your hallowed vote and government must be hard for you.

I imagine most if any latinx in Vermont are probably living in shitty migrant conditions for the blueberry harvest or something like that, eh? Get out and meet them sometime. They're people just like you, Brian.

"Latinx". How cute.

Maybe it's time for you to take a break, buddy.

biden is looking to put republicans in his cabinet like a good neoliberal.

moving left. lol. you guys are funny.

> I've been posting on the zone for 14 years and somehow you're the only one that ever noticed that I was an elitist, ableist, anti-semite

False.

>> Dude, what the fuck is wrong with you? Own your shit. I'm clearly not the only one who sees it. You reek of anti Semitism.

True.

Now the zero dimensional checkers player can once again threaten me for saying that using antisemitic tropes qualifies one as being  antisemitic.

In Chile, according to Anthony Bourdain, they smother almost every meal with mayonnaise and avocado.

Yum

the only thing I've taken away from your dribble is...

you added 2 years to your veteran status within about 10 posts

hope you're not a math teacher, because apparently math is hard for you.

lol, smh

When a person of color says it's racist, genteel society listens and tries to change.

When a woman says it's sexist, genteel society listens and tries to change.

When a member of the LGBQT+ community says it's bigotry, genteel society listens and tries to change.

When a Jew says it's anti Semitic, genteel society scoffs at them, calls them "sensitive," says it isn't, and happily continues the behaviors.

So Javs, when you were out marching and protesting the other day, were you next to these upstanding citizens who share your goals? Did you buy an ATP shirt?

BF24D048-3942-4C3C-A893-67FBBEA7C055.jpeg

Lol, I'm Latino and told you you're being prejudiced and you scoffed. I guess people who don't have nice Irish names like Brian don't get your airtime either.

Chileans do in fact smother avocado and homemade mayo on everything. It is damn yummy.

TOD, you're right, it's 14 years, started in 2006. I do get confused and no, I'm not a math teacher.

Dave, I threatened you? Lol. You are a funny fellow. What I told you, if I remember correctly, is that it's easy to throw bullshit labels around on the internet so you can avoid actually discussing your weak-ass points of view, when in real life, talking some of the shit you talk could get you into serious trouble. You and BK and Judah, all willing to toss labels around because your fragile eggshell reality tunnels are being threatened. You should walk out sometime and engage someone in conversation and then start throwing that bullshit at them. See how it goes.

So we have the Tyrant worshiper, the boy who cried anti-semite, and the well off  prejudiced white guy from Vermont who are all ardent neolibs.

Plus TOD.

What a merry bunch you all are.

Yeah, saying that Chile is known to be very anti Semitic makes me prejudiced against Latinx people??? Stop being an idiot.

For what it's worth, Javs, you are really coming off as a horrible person. I'm labeling you based on post after post of your words. You're just being a lashy-outy nut job.

Don't worry, Brian (what a nice Irish name) - Vermont's not likely to get may minorities anytime soon so you can keep your closet prejudice nicely without worrying about having it challenged too much. Bet you like loving in what's certainly one of the whitest states in the US, huh? Nice...

c'mon man, you don't recognize bottom bunk pheater?

damn

even chili dawg don't recognize you.

sad

thod is obsessed. very strange. you literally stalk by business page and post about it. thod is a loser and a bitch. we call that a trash whore.

the neolibs here attacking javs for being anti semetic (lol) is classic neolibs behavior. sad but true.

this entire anti semite bit is extra rich b/c of what i've started before about bernie running in this years primary and the corporate media trashing him using anti semite language and historically known anti semite terms. neolibs here brushed its off as insane talk as they always do.

lol, flouncy

exactly.

I'm ok with Pyramid. What's up, Pyramid? Looking forward to trying his killer pies someday, might buy three just for the hell of it since I wouldn't get many chances to be up that way and because left-over 'za is the bomb.

Shit, I might even buy two or three sides of ranch. You're all lying if you say you don't appreciate a piece of crust dipped in ranch. That shit's good.

what's up, javs. good work, sir.

it's about time we say fuck the corporate apologists. you're holding the country back.

^ make sure you keep vermont safe, we like to ride.

the precautions the resorts are taking look promising.

so maybe, just maybe...

we'll have that meet and greet you've been begging for.

i'll curse you off then take your money.

Corporate apologists. Nice. That's the term right there. Good one, Pyramid!

>>>>> people who don't have nice Irish names like Brian

>>>>>( what a nice Irish name)

Anti-Irish as well.

What you don't understand, ogkb, is that Bernie's Jewish heritage automatically precluded him from becoming president. Your made up tropes, in the MSM, had nothing to do with anything. It'll be at least 50 years before this country will be open to a Jewish president.

>>> i'll curse you off then take your money. <<<

there's that philly grit...

really the only reason why we'd stop by, oh and we do love pizza

hold the ranch

>It'll be at least 50 years before this country will be open to a Jewish president.<

so you are telling me that people are more afraid of jewish people than black ones?

Javs thinks that Jews should have names like Hymie or Moishe. You know, that way they'll know who the Jews are.

You, Javs, are so inherently anti Semitic that it's sickening.

>>>>>i'll curse you off then take your money.

It's a two-fer!

Sounds like fun - I'd recommend that place to anyone.

>>so you are telling me that people are more afraid of jewish people than black ones?

Absolutely, and in a very different way. It's a fear that has been instilled for almost 2,000 years, and has been propagated by the demonization of the religion. Over 30 years ago I stated that we'd have a black male president and a black female president long before we have a Jewish president. I still stand by that.

I'm not putting anyone down, just making a statement based on the realities of society.

interesting, not agreeing or disagreeing.

jr, you like mamala?

I know we don't love Wiki as source, but here's a pretty good timeline. Jump to the 4th century on. It may startle your you see the depth and voracity  of systemic anti Semitism. It didn't start and end with the Holocaust. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_of_antisemitism

To better understand the reasons for it: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antisemitism_in_Europe

Two thousand year old thought patterns, deeply engrained in culture and politics, don't change in a generation.

Yeah, Brian, keep going. It's hard to handle criticism from a guy called Javier from a foreign country, huh? Shudder, I can only imagine the pain that a xenophobic prejudiced white dude like you might be going through right now...

A lot of swinging dicks and missed haymakers in here. Why don't you fellas drop it a notch and communicate with words and substance, instead of innuendo and insults.

Javs, your "criticism" is so misguided that it's laughable.

Tell us again how The Don is better then Biden.
Or tell us how AIPAC is using money to buy American political leaders.

> There is such a thing as a Pro-Israel Lobby. Christians United For Israel is an organization with 7.1 million members, according to wikipedia. The American Israel Public Affairs Committe has 100,000 members and is directly listed as a lobby group. So there are religious organizations fighting for a pro-Israel military stance, and then the military industry I'm sure is keen to keep on banking those almost 4 billion a year.

Explain again how "it's all about the Benjamin's" is not an antisemitic trope.

Wow, Dave, you really found the smoking gun there! How dare I quote facts at you? I know, I know, those of us who are NOT the chosen ones shouldn't even utter the word Israel, right?

Dumbass...

aipac is as bad as the nra.

Saying that Jews are buying American support is cool right?

No anti-semitic tropes being used here.

You are a pathetic bloviating fool.

Saying that Jews are buying American support is cool right?

no, but saying isreal is doing that is cool because it is objectively true. the US doesnt just hand them money for foreign aid and then say "see ya later old chap", there are requirements that a certian percentage of that money for military aid be spent in america, buying weapons and other war items from american defense contractors. who fund the campaigns of many american legislators. its a circle of greed and corruption and the folks pulling the strings and benefiting most are not "the jews" or isreal like some cartoonish 1920s conspiracy, its corrupt american politicians and defense contractors. i dont think ive ever seen javs make a comment about "the jews", but i have seen him make many comments about the fundamentalist right wing ethnostate known as isreal. isreal does not = jews

Lol, Dave, like your buddies, you're a little slow on the reading comp. See, the first group I mentioned was Christians United for Israel, so if you're going to get all pissed about me saying that someone is trying to buy American support, at least get it right. I mentioned 7 millions christians, the military industrial complex and 100k Jews. Sorry if you felt the need to project your insecurities on to that.

Dude, until I told you that over 70% of American private support for Israel was from Christians, you were 100% on the Jew train.

As Daylight pointed out, the only side that benefits is the American MIC, which happens to be run by white, Christian males. They want to keep Jews and Muslims at odds.

Daylight, as always, knows what's up. And the vicious cycle of military support for Israel is larger than many of you may know. The IDF trains many police forces around the world in repression tactics to deal with mob violence. Turns out they're the experts. Two notable examples are French police and Chilean police. Guess what? In the last year, in protests in France, Chile and repression of Palestinians in Palestine, you see the exact same types of injuries: popped eyeballs from rubber pellets, mushed craniums from tear gas cannisters, and brutal skin wounds from close range rubber pellets loaded with metal in the center. It's not a coincidence. These are the tactics the IDF is training many other groups in.

But on the economic aspect of it, it's basically just a giant circle jerk where everyone is receiving and spending American money to promote militarization and violence around the world. And of course, like Las Vegas, the house always wins.

BK, you may want to see the quote that your buddy Dave posted above. It's by me, btw...

And like Daylight said, I don't really give a fuck about Jews anymore then I do about Muslims, Christians, Buddhists or anyone else. I judge and interact with people based on who is in front of me and how they relate. I really don't care that Israel is Jewish, per se. I care that Israel abuses its situation to funnel fuck tons of money to perpetuate violence in Palestine and around the world. That kind of bothers me.

Religious fanatics of all ilk I find distasteful. The thought that any group of people could have the arrogance to consider themselves as the chosen one of some golden calf god they've created in their image, is utterly ridiculous to me - equally in fundamentalist Muslims, Christians, Jews or anyone else. The sheer hubris of religionism in general is something that bugs me.

But other than that, I like anyone and everyone who is kind to me, and treat absolutely everyone in my life with equal respect.

Can you please provide data in the worldwide violence that Israel is perpetuating, other than some bombing of Iranian nuke facilities and Iranian forces in Syria.

Do you take equally disavow the violence that Palestinian leadership engages in, disavow the clause in the Palestinian Constitution that calls for total destruction of Israel, and also disavow what leadership in the West Bank has done to its own people?

BK, I don't know why I would even bother to engage in anything resembling civil discourse with you, since you repeatedly show that all you really want to do is talk shit and try to act tough, but what the hell? I'll give it another go.

Here are 4 articles/sources talking about the relationship between Israel and Chilean/Latin American militarism.

https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/chile-protests-army-israel-palestin...

https://english.alaraby.co.uk/english/comment/2019/10/30/chile-and-israe...

https://www.stopthewall.org/sites/default/files/Israeli-Militarism-in-La...

https://orientxxi.info/magazine/chile-a-testing-ground-for-israeli-weapo...

Feel free to read the information before you google the source to find out if you like it or not.

I'll try to find some stuff on the French connection later.

I disavow the violence of the Palestinian LEADERSHIP, though I don't think I can say the same for violence committed by the Palestinian people. To be clear, missle tossing into Israel - disavowed. Throwing rocks at and shooting soldiers and general mayhem in protests. Not completely disavowed.

I disavow the clause in the constitution. I'm further disgusted by all the Arab nations that pretend to give a shit about the Palestinian people, starting with Jordan where I lived for three years.

So now what? I get a fucking medal for passing your purity test? Fuck Israel and fuck American military support of Israel. Are you willing to in any way condemn the continued militarization of the world, propagated primarly by your country and disseminated in an important role by Israel? Or are you just gonna play classical Zionist and tell me why Israel is justified in every little Palestinian death they cause and in training forces of terror around the world?

Are you willing to recognize, that your fucking shitwad candidate, Joe Biden, is just going to continue that militarization?

>> Joe Biden, is just going to continue that militarization? <<

Our next Commander in Chief? Well, that is part of the job description. But, he can reduce the military footprint like Obama did. I expect to see some of that budget reallocated towards domestic infrastructure (instead of Iraqi and Afghani infrastructure that we destroyed).

Lol, you do realize that I've voted in 8 presidential elections, and in only one or two have I voted for a Party Democrat. I tend to vote either Green or Commie in those things. Honestly, you're just creating narratives out of thin air.

So you're not willing to disavow any of that? Ok. Gotcha.

Are you willing to disavow the Israeli government's treatment of the Palestinian people?

I disavow the Peruvian's treatment of Vermonters.

Did you guys know Israel has Universal Health Care?

Haha willows with the swish from half court

From what I read, it looks like your government courted Israel. It's not like they came into Chile and imposed their military might. Israel is like the loser kid at school, and will jump at the chance to be "friends" with anyone. It doesn't matter if the "friend" is there for the free weed and 96" TV. Don't worry, Javs, you'll soon have a new government, and Israel will be on the outs.

Of course I disavow Israel's often disproportionate actions. I have done it here for 2 decades. I also think it's ridiculous when people call it a "genocide." There were under 200,000 Palestinians in 1949, and there are now 7,000,000. If genocide was their goal, they did a piss poor job of it.

Obsessive much?

can we all stop slinging shit?

i do a lot of scrolling past these days  you guys are just talking to yourselves  no minds will be changed

perhaps your feelings of superiority will be enhanced    If you need that shit

futile

let go folks   It can't  be good for you

(edit: I meant Chile, not Peru....sorry Javs)

i hereby disavow the practice of asking people to disavow or condemn things - its a useless political circle jerk that is 100% consciously intended to detract from serious discussion and the impending possibility of having to concede small points to, or make compromises with the other side of a discussion.

" i dont think ive ever seen javs make a comment about "the jews""

"The mercantile class was banking from the Jewish communities ties throughout Europe,"

to avoid inquisition laws about importing good made by Jews from Spain and Portugal

There's a lesson in there, maybe.

those #'s hurt, huh, judah. especially since trump is so horrible.

is judah the new gregulator?

but, like, a jacked up corporatist yas queen liberal on steroids version.

Democrats are willing to look past Obama putting immigrants in cages. They also are delusional to think that Obama "decreases the military footprints". That's just insane to think that someone could believe that. He was actually the only president who was at war everyday in his two terms. He increased the footprint and wrote the script for drone murdering. Not sure what kind of crack these so called liberal Dems are smoking nowadays.

Obama's not running.

paintchips wants to phone a friend right now,

bummer

Obama only had to spend more than trump to lower it? Not seeing your point here as Obama's first term he spent more money on military than any president in the last 20 yrs. Makes him look good that he spend that much in a recession as well. Ned not very smart.

Thanks for proving the point though, as you can clearly see From Neds graph obama spent almost twice as much ion his first term than bush's second term on military and set the new standard for increased military budget for Trump to follow him afterwards.

That's an odd interpretation of the graph.

everybody knows, surf. what's the point in stating that?

What's odd about that? Obama clearly out spent bush and trump on military and you said he was trying to decrease the military footprint.  What footprint? The one he made?

Timpy, the 2009 budget was already set when he went into office in 2009. 2010 budget already had momentum when he took office, and he inherited two hot wars. He said he intended to reduce military spending, and he did. You can spin it however you want.

More from our neofascist herr professor baby che:

o Judah, Lion. Get a grip. You worship a human rights violating, slave owning dictator, who proclaimed himself some grand and noble title and you bought it. How does that gel with your Judaism anyways? You are Jewish, right?

baby che: we were talking about your actions, not your father's, in whitewashing your privileged life that is the product of fascism.

So, put on your imperialist family heirloom hats and capes and 'splain it all to us dupes! lol.

You teach?  Ha ha. What? ESL.

if baby che was chilean, lived in chile, or was latinx he/she would spend a bit more time working on its fragile democracy and what appears to be chile's most important constitutional moment/election ever and a lot less spouting off incessantly like some ignorant, arrogant, fascist, anti-semitic, misogynistic, bigoted college student.

Shut up, baby che, and listen to your elders (and the Lion). Make fewer assumptions about people and things, baby che.  So many assumptions to ease your dense mind, herr professor baby che.

bzzz. bzzz. meow.

and don't forget to Vote (out trump and chilean fascists, too, lol).

Grrrrrr.....konkering kitteh is riled up!!!

Grrrr!!!

Lol. If I lived in Chile. You are a funny dude, you know that. Jah, Rastafari, Ever Living, Ever Fearful. Your mane of dreads must be truly beautiful, you fierce little kitteh.

And now konkering kitteh, you know, the one who's been frothing at the mouth about my anti-semitism, now gets to dictate who is and who isn't LatinX.

I guess my ancestors living, dying and growing here for 500 years doesn't count...

How long have your ancestors been in the US?

Silly kitty...

I'm jealous of people who can trace their family trees back 4 generations, let alone 500 years. I can't even fill in all of my great uncles and aunts. I can get 1 generation with accuracy, 2 generations at maybe 50%, and the third at less than 25%. Yad Vashem isn't that complete. The tree ends there.

I am 13th generation in colony/USA. My grandma did all the genealogy. My people came over on 3rd trip of Mayflower.

> jealous of people who can trace their family trees back 4 generations<

I think I'm in the minority, but I have no interest in researching my family tree. I don't understand the motivation, other than a better understanding of possible medical issues. Hell, outside of my immediate family, I rarely interact with my living relatives.

In Latin America geneaolgy is easy to trace because we use both father and mother's surnames. So the name is:

Name, Dad Surname, Mom surname, Dad's Dad's surname, Mom's Dad's surname, Dad's Mom's surname...ad nauseam.

I can go back like 8 or 10 last names off the top of my head. And both my Grandfather's did a lot of research, too.

Would somebody please let me know when the use of firearms between the word waring parties happens and a real revolution starts? Just remember to stay at least 6 ft apart during hostilities and wash your hands.

looks like the disenfranchised bernie bro's are both on benders today.  obama is now even a part of the discussion. LOL

As I'm sure you are capable of seeing that 2010 was a higher year for military expenses set by Obama. You can spin it whatever way you want but when you have the balls to admit your wrong just man up to it. A lot of stubborn overgrown brats in this thread.

Obama spent so little on military that he was able to invade lybia and Syria while keeping soldiers on the ground in Afghanistan.

I could keep telling you how wrong you are but it's pointless. You don't get it.

Obama spent more on military than Bush. There's no other way to spin it. That's a fact.

>>>>>Obama spent more on military than Bush. There's no other way to spin it. That's a fact.

Your phone might be broken.  Just did some quick math and I'm showing $964.2 Billion spent by the Bush administration and $953.1  Billion spent by the Obama administration.  There's probably a better source for numbers than I used though.  Where are you getting your numbers or was it just a gut feeling thing for you?  I took mine from here:

Change is going to come

The cover of Woody Guthrie’s Resistance "All You Fascists Bound To Lose" by the Resistance Revival Chorus with Rhiannon Giddens is an important reminder of the history of anti-facism in the United States as well as solidarity with international anti-fascism. There have been moments in this country where anti-fascism was the norm: the abolition movement of the 1800s, the majority during WWII, and for anyone opposing the war in Vietnam, the ongoing legacy of slavery and Jim Crow laws; the targeting of women, LGBTQ, and gender expansive communities; the targeting of Jews, Muslims and other ethnic and religious minorities; and resistance to the exploitation of people and valuing of property and profit over human life, dignity and freedom.

During Saturday’s Forum on Electoral and Voter Defense, NLG-SF members talked about the ways NLG members can support a basic safe-guard against fascism - the right to vote (as limited as it already is, it’s facing obliteration). We discussed ways for us to defend those who put their bodies on the line at polling places to document activity, to monitor polls, and to literally and physically defend the rights of those coming to vote against the call by Trump for fascist and alt-right intimidation. Below is the recording, and a separate email went out with resources and opportunities for NLG members to get involved.

We will also be gearing up our post-election response on all fronts: public Know Your Rights and security education and training, Demonstrations readiness to mobilize hotline workers, mass demonstration attorneys and legal workers, Federal Defense Committee readiness to respond to FBI and law enforcement visits and warrants, federal charges, raids and grand juries. One of our partners, the Anti-Repression Committee, is ready to post bail and mobilize mass defense against repression along with the NLG and our movement partners.

On Saturday, October 17, in San Francisco, we saw the Proud Boys forced to retreat by the strong showing of anti-fascists. Consistent with their past cowardice, they left reactionary people of color on stage speaking in support of Trump, white nationalist and fascist forces. Anti-fascists of all colors and genders responded, throwing bottles and trash. On Sunday, October 18, an anti-fascist was arrested and extradited to San Francisco. This antifascist is facing mayhem charges and a hate crime enhancement for punching a Proud Boy’s teeth out.

Whether or not the charges stick, they are part of an ongoing strategy by white nationalists, fascists and others in the ultra-right to entangle anti-fascists in long criminal and civil litigation cases (the latter being funded by ultra-right think tanks and foundations). As the NLG, we are gearing up to create some basic information on the consequences of diverse tactics, as well as ways to limit the liability of those employing them and the liability of the? movement more broadly. In addition, we will continue to put out information on new charges we are seeing during this moment, where laws and strategies that  we have often used to defend social justice movements are now being used to attack us.

It’s a reminder that until we have full political, economic and social rights - and a very different government, society and economic system - these protections are fragile. Yet, they are worth defending as we see them threatened with extinction.

Jah bless, brother. Keep your mane well taken care of so you can look super heady at the next protest.

Lol "Do you live in Oakland? No, East of there." Yeah, some nice cushy suburbs East of Oakland. Hahahahah, keep on fighting the good fight from the comfort of your suburban ganja plantation...

Judah, are you balding AND have dreads? Oh please tell me you are!

And "admin", kindly go fuck yourself, yeah? These dumb assholes, led by BK and massively piling on with NYC Dave and this Judah dumb ass have been calling me anti-semite for the last month or two and you haven't said a goddam thing. Sounds pretty fucking defamatory to me.

So since you ony give a shit when it suits you, either fuck off or apply the rules fairly. Not just against the people you don't like because they don't roll over and vote Biden or whatever.

You got your little smack down from Admin because of your words. Don't blame that shit on me.

You have thrown out multiple anti-Semitic tropes. That's on you. Your failure to see them for what they are is because you are anti-Semitic. Again, that's on you.

Your little tit-for-tat with Judah is what got you your talking to. Face it, both of you suck at being Internet dicks at the level you're trying to be. In case you're wondering, that is a compliment. You're not inherently a douchebag.

Whatever BK, you're a sad, priviledged white dude who spends all his ire justifying how he perpetuates his gas hungry lifestyle. And when called out on it, all you've got is to call me anti-semitic, the classic pathetic reserve of the cornered. Just call out some bullshit and that way you don't have to talk about it.

Fuck you, dickwad. You've called me a nazi and an anti-semite over and over. Truth is, your just an dumb, entitled prick. Now fuck off and go drive your gas guzzler around lilly-white American rich Burlington, Brian.

Lol, the rich guy from Connecticut with the Irish name is the defender of Jews and protector against Anti-Semites everywhere.

You and the culturally appropriating, tyrant worshiping white rasta both. You got nothing.

Another hard truth is that "admin", lol, Judit, stands by and laughs while you and the sheep herd all talk crazy shit to Bryen, myself and anyone who dares challenge the mainstream narrative here. And then when somebody starts calling out the pretty little hypocrites on their bullshit, she lashes out because it offends her sensibilities - not because she gives an actual shit about what's happening. If she did, LLTD would have been banned ages ago for the disgusting things he says to Bryen on an almost daily basis.

So long as you toe the line around here, you're all good, right? Fucking conformists....just like your Biden vote.

And another hard truth, BK, is that you're the worst one on here. You cloak your bully tactics behind pseudo-rationality, but really all you do is shut down every single idea that contradicts yours with insults and mockery. You've spent your whole life telling yourself that you're an open minded liberal, but really, you're the most dogmatic conformist of the bunch and you contribute nothing to positive conversation. And the worst part is, then you cry like a fucking baby about how people bother you....Fucking wannabe victim...

Gbcz?

javs laying it down. nice.

everybody who called bernie too old and too angry was throwing around anti semetic tropes. facts.

many, many zoners said that exact phrase -- bernie is too old and too angry.

I've never called you a nazi.

Sure, I had a privileged childhood. My privilege will never match yours. You are in a different league, one that goes back centuries and infiltrates every aspect of your essence.

Meanwhile, I pay student loans, and last year I traded in my old used vehicle, with 140k miles, for a new, used vehicle with 82k miles. I also work very closely with the immigrant community and refugee resettlement programs. I have helped Latinx immigrants, who are here illegally and want legal status, to navigate our system that would force them to go back to their countries and face jail or death. I work with them as they forge their paths towards better lives and citizenship.

It may bother the fuck out of you to know, but many of the immigrants to the US do want citizenship. They don't want to see the system overturned.

>>Lol, the rich guy from Connecticut with the Irish name is the defender of Jews and protector against Anti-Semites everywhere.

Do you not see the multiple problems with this statement?

>>everybody who called bernie too old and too angry was throwing around anti semetic tropes. facts.

That's actually an opinion, which isn't backed by facts.

it is backed by facts and i even posted those facts last time this came up, and you dismissed it then. which is fine, you can do that.

doesn't make it opinion just b/c you dismiss fact.

How many times has Heater called folks here racist?

I won't even get into the really shitty stuff that's been slung by "The Admins Brother"

(((Phamily Values)))

Just because there's a stereotype of an angry, old Jew, one that is centuries old, doesn't mean that calling Bernie angry and old is playing into that stereotype. Honestly, people saw him as angry and old. That's more ageist than anything.

rrg go fuck yourself lol. why do you even post here?

you literally come to this site to troll.

lol @ blue rose task force.

you silly washed up wanna be cowboy drunkard.

bk -- the corporate media said it was ok, so people brought it to the real world, and you dismiss it. whatever man.

The “anti Semitic tropes” line does get tossed around here pretty indiscriminately. I once got called a racist because I caught a shoplifter putting stuff in a bag in front of me. Don’t understand why it reminds me of that. Oh wait...

lol

Go fuck a side of Ranch Heater.

lol

No Fish, not indiscriminately. When I pointed them out, I also linked to sources on exactly why they were anti Semitic.

I'll say this again:

When a person of color points out racism, people listen.

When a member of the LGBQT+ community points out bigotry, people listen.

When a female points out sexism, people listen.

When a Jew points out anti Semitism, people tell them that they are wrong.

Explain that one to me.

You're wrong about the first three. smiley

Lol on what planet? Not every statement that doesn’t denounce anti Semitism is evidence of such

Huh?

Read it again if it doesn’t make sense

Um, I've pointed out overtly anti Semitic statements. I haven't come close to inferring that those who don't denounce it are being anti Semitic.

Of course, there's the school of thought that says that your either racist or anti racist, which has been brought up by the BLM movement. How do you feel about that?

>>> rrg go fuck yourself lol. why do you even post here?

you literally come to this site to troll. <<<

You think your lil lol excuses you from talking to women like that?

You clearly have shown, women make you uncomfortable.

Perhaps my statement doesn’t apply to you? Guilty conscience I’m guessing but I didn’t name anybody

I don't have a guilty conscience. I'm not guilty of anything. Are you?

thod what are you saying?

you try so hard man, it's just cringe-y.

you're just very unintelligent, so we'll leave it at that. really nothing else needs to be said.

Heater, just for conversation sake..

Do You know what Blue Rose Task Force is in reference to?

Why do you think I am "washed up"?

Considering that I consume about 2 drinks a month, if that, why am I a "drunkard"?

I'm from The Hudson Valley, why does that make me a "cowboy"?

Anti Biden solidarity I guess.

Your bitterness causes a lack of reality and common sense

Neo liberals are evil by definition. How is Trump in your eyes?

We must remove trump and his evil ways from power.  And Bernie will win.   Yes, if broken down, A non vote for Bernie is a vote  for trump

LLTD is wise, even  if not always coherent.  Not unlike myself, I hope.

When a Jew points out anti Semitism, people tell them that they are wrong.

because it frequently is alleged during discussions about the state of israel, not the jews. anti semetic tropes include some of the most basic building blocks of government and/or financial corruption - power, greed, money, and secrecy. all corruption, regardless of whether or not it is true, who it is perpetrated by, the religion of the perpetrators, or the race of the perpetrators, will in some way involve themes of power, greed, money and/or secrecy. at least one of those themes will be present in any and all corruption perpetrated by government, elites, financial institutions or politicians.

so of course, "jews" ruling the world, being greedy, being secretive, and being rich, are anti semetic tropes - because there obviously is no jewish conspiracy, jews come from all levels of society, and are obviously not inherently greedy.

but if i am going to criticize israel for something involving corruption, it MUST include themes of greed, power, money and secrecy, because that is what corruption is among governments, politicians and major financial institutions.

so by saying it is anti semitic to alleged that israel is in some way seeking increased power or wealth, and is doing so secretively, you are effectively saying it is anti semetic to accuse israel of any corruption of any kind, because corruption perpetrated by governments, politicians and major financial institutions inherently involve the real life themes of greed, power, money and secrecy that are also common anti semetic tropes.

Tonight's debate was much better than the last one, in my opinion.

Let's get to 11/3 and start the counting.

This is what democracy in 2020 looks like.

What do you look like in 2020?

Ther were a couple of nice comments about dipping sauce last I read this thread.

Any one care to give a possible brief update.

Thanks in advance.

slacker never saw jerry. hahaha

Great analysis, Daylight. Now, if you go back to that original thread where I pointed out the anti Semitic tropes being used, you'll see that  they were not in reference to a corrupt Israeli government, or even specific policies. They were in regards to power broking of American Jews. You know, those things that are generally regarded as anti Semitic.

<<<>>>LLTD is wise, even  if not always coherent.  Not unlike myself, I hope.

>>>>>how many senate dems vote to confirm ACB?      all of them?       90%?      75%?

Close. It was  zero.

what happened to this anyway?

remember, surf, centrists like you gave us trump -- lacking the courage to break the duopoly and vote for real change (maybe for the first time in recent modern history) , and the dems fully abandoning the working class and poor, after lying through their teeth for decades that they actually are the party of the people, has resulted in trump and a hard conservative supreme court.

shameful.

BD4F4164-F1DA-43CB-8FBA-7FD081CDC75A.jpeg

And it's "progressives" like you who may give us Trump this time.

^you just don't get it.

how does it make you feel that your corporate dems didn't even attempt to stop the ACB nomination?

you justify it by telling yourself there was nothing pelosi could do, so fuck it, might as well not even try, right?

sad.

kinda funny tho how biden shamed anita hill to help put thomas on the court decades ago, who is now swearing in ACB.

just gold.

What should they have done?

>how does it make you feel that your corporate dems didn't even attempt to stop the ACB nomination?

There was nothing she could do. Perhaps you should take a civics course at your local community college? Until then a quick lesson... the Senate, not the house of representatives, provide advice and consent on judicial nominations. Maybe you're not aware, but Republicans hold a majority in the Senate.

Back to 2016... It was obvious that the winner of the Presidency would appoint at least one, and up to three supreme court justices, plus there were all of those lower court vacancies to fill.  Yet in the swing states, some people still voted third party,  or wrote in a candidate.

lumber thinks trump is a result of 2016, that's just stupid and sad.  we don't need to elaborate there as we have countless times. centrists like lumber gave us trump.

your queen rbg totally fucked up. her greed and ego got in the way, and now we're paying b/c of that. that's just a fact. who the fuck gets diagnosed w/ multiple cancers and still tries to hold on and serve till she's almost 90? ridiculous.

lumber they didn't even try anything. nothing. not one trick or bs tactic to slow down or attempt to discourse the vote. not even an attempt. this after they all promised to burn it down trying. jokers.

well since the horrible ACA will be thrown away, no point in biden building on that corporate bs.

endorse m4a, which most americans support -- then dare the SC to take away all

of americans' healthcare.

biden isn't allowed to do that tho. it's why he was chosen.

i feel like we have a lot of lincoln project supporters up in here.

lumber. is that true?

Why all the angst over M4A?

Sure, it would be a big improvement over what we have, but it's not the be-all and end-all. I get Medicare - it has a lot of insufficiencies. Only pays 80%, no dental coverage, prescriptions cost extra.  Most folks in Europe have better systems and get better care then I and other Medicare patients do.

Maybe we can come to consensus on something. It's really simple. Trump is president because of the people who voted for him, not because of centrists or Progressives.

Ogkb, your analysis is sometimes way off. As Lumber said, blaming Pelosi makes no sense. The shitty reality is that there was absolutely nothing that the Democrats in Senate could do. As a result, we'll now have a  SCOTUS that is so out of touch with the population that it's crazy. Trump has the power in Senate, and it's because of the deplorables who voted for him (and those douchebag senators).

>>>>> centrists like lumber gave us trump

Still flogging that same old trope.

Most folks who know anything about politics know that Bernie would have gotten fewer votes and states than Hillary in 2016..

I know you don't believe this, but it's the case.

surf, americans need to be provided healthcare. it is a right.

m4a that was being proposed (by the guy who you said was too old and angry) would have dental and everything covered.

not having insurance really fucks w/ one's mental health. it's like a domino effect. extreme levels of stress and anxiety. all b/c corporate politicians are bought and owned by their corporate masters.

Ogkb, I don't think that anyone here is debating against a goal of universal healthcare. The debate is what is should look like and how to get there. Maybe, instead of putting people down, you can tell us your path to get there. A "Bernie magic wand" was never a plan. What do you envision universal health looking like, and how do we get to it?

you're a good centrist, surf. your generation destroyed the earth.

what a candidate huh?

heres your 2016 lumber.

>lumber thinks trump is a result of 2016, that's just stupid and sad.  we don't need to elaborate there as we have countless times. centrists like lumber gave us trump. <

There were two people who had a realistic chance of winning in 2016, the Republican nominee and the democratic nominee. As I wrote in my previous post..

it was obvious that the winner of the Presidency would appoint at least one, and up to three supreme court justices, plus there were all of those lower court vacancies to fill.  Yet in the swing states, some people still voted third party,  or wrote in a candidate. Again, perhaps a civics course would be beneficial?

I agree,  RGB should have retired when Obama was president, but she didn't,  just like Sanders wasn't the Democratic nominee.  These things I could not control nor influence. But it was obvious that either Clinton or Trump would be filling the vacant seats on the judiciary. What is sad is that you still seem unable, or unwilling to understand this.

Regarding the Lincoln project... I welcome all who want to expell Trump from the White House. The enemy of my enemy is my friend, albeit temporary.

Bernie couldn't overcome the DNC in '16 - what makes you think he could have beaten the Rs?

Heater, healthcare is a service.

Maybe if you charged another 4 bucks for a side of ranch you could afford insurance.

Do you still make your employees suffer with no health insurance?  Must make them anxious.

this is awesome. those people laugh at you (just like romney did when the brunch liberals thought he'd save them from the ACB nom.)

those guys are responsible for the W SC picks. now you side w/ them. amazing stuff 2020 is.

 >>>>>using anti semetic tropes to trash bernie during the primary

1. It's "semitic", not "semetic".

2. I'm half Jewish by inheritance.

3. I never trashed Bernie - I like most of his ideas. Just don;t think he is electable at this juncture.

4. "Old" and "angry" are not anti-Semitic tropes.

5. Pretty sure I never called him angry.

6. If you disagree with someone it doesn't make them trash.

we've been over this, surf. you called him too angry and i posted sources explaining that trope and how the corporate media was using that to their advantage.

>those people laugh at you (just like romney did when the brunch liberals thought he'd save them from the ACB nom.)

those guys are responsible for the W SC picks. now you side w/ them<

The Lincoln Projects ads have been spot on. Sure a few are snarky, but they know who their audience is.

You know that I'm not having these guys over for dinner, right? We all just want Trump to lose.

Let me put it another way...

Back in WWII the Soviet Union and the US both fought to defeat fascism.  It's sort of like that, but I just watch their ads on YouTube.

Heater's political baseline is so far off he's lost all reality. Sad.

I'd probably guess to say that 90% of us here (including myself) voted for Bernie in the primary.  bernie lost in the primary, so again, 90% of us decided to vote for Biden.  We see Trump as an existential threat to our lives and are frightened of 4 more years.  Hell, I'm frightened the he'll make himself a King and stay 3 terms.

Why is that so difficult to understand?

^ because we're all antisemitic ageists.

Saying that Bernie comes off as old and angry is anti Semitic.

Ilian Omar has not made anti Semitic comments.

Once again, ogkb is keeping up his streak of being wrong.

>>> not having insurance really fucks w/ one's mental health.

this explains a lot.

My wife forced me to vote for the older guy, Biden. The country is fucked either way. You get Trump or you will get the biggest recession you ever saw. Win win

Surfdead, it's really none of your business who I chose to vote for, just assume I wrote Hillary in if my voting choices keep you up at night. I already voted. Done deal.

I feel like I've mentioned this before, but in case you missed it, I live in a blue state where I could vote for the cookie monster and it wouldn't make any difference in the outcome. I won't be represented by whichever party wins this election. Yay!

BTW did you guys know Israel, a country we send obscene amounts of military aid to has Universal Health Care?

Universal health care is a good thing. Israel also has no whacked religious  restrictions on abortion. Ironic in a way since they're a religious   state while the USA isn't supposed to be

imagine if Hillary had been able to appoint 3 Supreme Court Justices

Imagine if she and her crew had billions to spend on elections. Who could she blame for losing if she spent billions trying to win over a few more moderates instead of progressives?

Any recession bets?

Nice deflection, but I mentioned the Supreme Court - I take it mean you can't admit that   Hillary would have appointed better justices.

Better to have Trump win again then a moderate like Biden, eh?

Brilliant

It would Take a pretty amazing Crystal ball to be honest

there are many that would predict a better outcome with the older guy fyi

Pretty sure that is what moderate homeowners are thinking, Nanc.

dise, who did you vote for?

If there's a recession, it will be because the market is in an inflated bubble, real estate is in a bubble, there's a global pandemic, and the true unemployment rate is over 25%. It won't be because of Biden.

And Timpane, are you so whipped that you can't even cast your own vote?

I did it to make her happy. If I were single I would have exercised my right as an American citizen to not vote.

And I never said the recession would be because of Biden but there will be a huge drop in stocks in he wins and it will be because the large amount of people selling and we could see a very bad recession after that

Jeez, couldn't you have written in Jimmy Hoffa and told her you voted for Biden?

A recession is coming either way, regardless of who wins. Too many big bubbles out there. I don't know shit about economics, but it sure as hell seems like the writing is on the wall.

home prices up 12% locally...

has timpane broken the news to pyramid heater that he's 100% on the Biden and Mamala train? hopefully this doesn't affect their online relationship.

^hahaha.

It turns out that Timpane is the reason why we can't have nice things. Who would have seen that one coming?

The house 2 doors down from me sold for $410,000, cash, last month. It's 1,800 sq/ft with .13 acre lot, in small town Vermont. Another house, maybe a mile away,  sold for $435k, cash. They were asking $410k. Both houses are sitting empty, and will be for months. It's all people from out of state, driving around and making cash offers. Maybe they'll move in, maybe not. Meanwhile, families can no longer afford to buy here, let alone rent.

I hope that bubble bursts and they all take a bath.

>> but there will be a huge drop in stocks in he wins and it will be because the large amount of people selling and we could see a very bad recession after that <<

That would be a predictable and needed correction. But, that isn't a recession. There's plenty of other reasons to worry about the economy. The difference now versus 2007/2008 is that real estate values will be the victim, not the crime. The housing market is on much better footing now versus then. The next recession will trickle up, where last time it trickled down (well... it was a deluge).

Mixed with the national economic crisis due to the global pandemic that could cause a recession, no? It's just a good possibility but at this point, who knows what will happen in the election. Dems are ahead in the polls in the last week and everyone has already declared victory. Dejavu May be right around the corner.

>>>And I never said the recession would be because of Biden but there will be a huge drop in stocks in he wins and it will be because the large amount of people selling and we could see a very bad recession after that

yes, most Bernie socialists deeply care about the stock market.

I mean, come the fuck on, these supposed "Bernie" idiots run around calling Biden voters corporate Dems...

...and then bitch about the level of the fucking STOCK MARKET?

Just get the fuck out, all of you Trumpkin idiots who have been pretending to be Bernie Bros.

Did someone really say this ?????

>>> Saying that Bernie comes off as old and angry is anti Semitic. <<<

Could you explain the connection, how you got there, please? Thanks. I really don't get that.

These are strange times. Again and again.

You'll have to ask ogkb, Judit. I'm waiting to hear his scathing review of Walter Matthau's character in "Grumpy Old Men." He must have been one of those self-loathing Jews to take that role.

<<<>>>Just get the fuck out, all of you Trumpkin idiots who have been pretending to be Bernie Bros.

4.3....

i said the "bernie is too angry" bit was an anti semitic trope often used by the corporate media this run (and last), and centrists ate that up, naturally -- some even regurgitated it here on the black screen. whatever. they also regurgitated all the other nonsensical corporate media talking points about bernie (socialist, etc.) -- and are now painting the biden/harris ticket as the most progressive ever, and saying harris is more progressive than bernie (lol) -- not that i care at all -- but this is what's happening. and of course the republicans have been screaming socialist/communist since biden picked harris, which is what the liberals were saying would happen if bernie was the nominee.

<<<>>>>These are strange times. Again and again.

agreed. people think somebody like biden who isn't even for banning fracking (saving the earth) or legalizing cannabis (criminal justice issue) or ending the for profit healthcare system (nothing to put here b/c it's just straight up sad......pandemic tho), can be persuaded to move left. insanity.

We are voting for a centrist to get rid of the fascist. No illusions.

so do we keep choosing centrist ?

b/c the gop isn't going to be any less facsist-like going forward.

If we choose a leftist they will be annihilated at the polls. The problem is, the American electorate has been dumbed down and brainwashed to vote against their own best interests. Progressives are a minority.

I'm a minority in a minority.

interesting, surf.

what's worse than queen centrists herself, HRC, losing to the facist? that means nothing? or that was bernie's fault? my fault? people who didn't vote at all, their fault?

def not the neoliberal rule that's at fault, right? you know, the party that abandoned the working class decades ago, yet still openly lies saying they have our best interests in mind.

def not their fault.

right?

those who didn't have the courage to vote sanders in the primary, are going to be asking us in 16 years to vote for a republican over the fascist if we don't break this cycle.

If you could choose one who would it be?

Lawrence O'Donnell or Don Lemon?

I think that if by 2028 there are at least 140 members of the Progressive Coalition in the House, and maybe 6 or so in the Senate, a Progressive could have a fair run at the presidency.

>>how many senate dems vote to confirm ACB?

>>all of them?

>>90%?

Did anyone ever take the time in this thread to answer the nice gentleman's question?

I believe the correct answer is 0%

Two of the folks to vote no were my Senators Patrick Leahy and some guy named Bernie Sanders.

Impeaching Barr to stop the SCOTUS vote?

100% of US reps are up for re-election. The Senate moved forward with urgency because they knew they will probably be losing the Senate, so nothing to lose that isn't already lost. Democratic Reps aren't going to impeach Barr when he's getting fired in a month anyway. That is stupidity. Please use your brain.

that was the position of a law professor on the radio nedb.

maybe they should study harder?

point it, it is a tactic....to stall...

Impeaching Barr is an overtly political act. The Democrats feel like they can take the Presidency and the Senate, they don't want to jeopardize that for a futile stalling tactic.

That's a lot to ask some folks, Ned. "I know how I feel. Don't confuse me with facts."

Lumber, sometimes pragmatism is a frustrating and painful part of politics. Some don't see that.

The law professor was citing the legal options, but there are political consequences and realities. Folks, this is a done deal, best to move along....

No biggie I guess. Just a life time appointment that will help further undermine our republic.

the fact that you all are cool with that just to get joe in....

Yeah, at the end of the day there really was nothing that they could do. They couldn't filibuster, they couldn't force all members to be present, either in the Judiciary Committee or full Senate. https://www.justsecurity.org/72521/senate-procedures-offer-no-hope-for-d...

So yeah, link to some real shit that could have been done. I keep throwing out that nasty word, "viable," which seems to be a real thorn in a few of your sides. I guess it's easier to blame, attack and sideline quarterback than it is to offer real solutions.

I think that is is more about far left pipe dreams than it is centrist apologists.

I'm not saying that at all, turtle. I'm saying the Senate held all the cards, that's how it's set up. Same thing with Garland. I'm not saying I like it, I'm just saying it's a done deal. Over.

It isn't about getting Joe in at any cost, it's about getting Trump OUT.

> fact that you all are cool with that just to get joe in<

The time to act was 2016. Like I have stated...

It was obvious that the 2016 winner would get to appoint at least one, and possibly as many as three justices.

Turtle, it could not be stopped. Any stalling tactic just delayed the inevitable.  But if Biden loses we could have a 7-2 conservative majority for the next 20 years.

But, but...a couple of dudes on a dbmb, who hate all things Democrat, said it could be stopped.

not sure it could have been fellas...

just seemed that they should have pulled out all the stops. looks as if they didn't try.

i do not profess to be a constitutional scholar.

just suuuper sick of having any type of change or progress contingent on a party that long ago completely abandoned its base.

Turts, there's a strong likelihood the Democrats will hold both sides of Congress and the White House. Please wait and see what progress can be done in two years, because they will most likely lose the house and/or senate in 2022.

None of is know the full extent of the wrangling that went on in the back rooms of the Senate, but I bet that there was plenty. Maybe I'll email my senators and ask.

hope some good happens sometime...

we shall see ned.

i personally am not super optimistic joe wins.

if he doesn't....? then all these silly arguments are moot.

I'm cautiously optimistic. The silent majority this cycle is the voting block that wants trump out. And, by all indications over 71,000,000 wanted to their voice heard before election day. I think that is a very good sign.

authoritarians want you to second guess everything,

they live and thrive in chaos.

coupled with the msm keeping everything too close to call

just when you get a clearer picture *wham*

the reset

still haven't heard a trump supporter say they waited 5-12 hrs during a global pandemic to vote.

did hear about 30 trumpkins who got hospitalized with hypothermia waiting for a bus to show up.

I guess that's hardcore, smh

true, early voting is rocking...

going to drop off my ballot today.

and YESSSS, i fucking filled it in for joe god damnit.

Did I hear correctly last night that more people have voted by mail so far this year than voted at all in 2016? It looks like the Black vote has come out big for Biden, and that may be the tipping point. For all those that wondered why he was courting the center rather than the left, that's your answer. 44% of Blacks identify as center, and only 23% progressive. The Black vote got him the nomination, and very well may get him the White House.

I emailed Senator Leahy about what could have been done and what was tried. He's usually pretty responsive. I'll post his reply when I get it.

>>lol of course it was zero. you guys feel good about that, right?

lol why should I feel good or bad about it? It's a fact. I feel it's a fact. Period.

good man,Turtle.

>>>>>how many senate dems vote to confirm ACB?      all of them?       90%?      75%?

>>>>>lol of course it was zero.

Calm down Pheat.

<<<>>>still haven't heard a trump supporter say they waited 5-12 hrs during a global pandemic to vote.

lol. democracy!

<<<>>>you just wanna be able to say look at me I'm the hardest progressive that ever lived,

wrong. i voted corporate dem every election up until 2016.

<<<>>>because that's all you got and it's only about you.

wrong again, in fact, it's the complete opposite. corporate apologists like yourself make it all about you -- i support m4a, UBI, canceling all student debt, increasing the minimum wage to $20, social justice issues -- you vote for candidates who don't (you've admitted that here).

oh, oh....

covid-19 on the rise in vermont as leafer season ends.

tighter restrictions for out of stater's (which is good for vermonters)

infected due to tourism and colleges, just starting to hit the news.

no reason to vote for a guy who has a plan to get this under control, your governor will save you.

<<<>>>>

man, thod, you're so bitter holy shit.

Actually, ogkb, UVM had only one new case this week. That's super impressive. The cluster at St. Mike's can be traced back to that hockey tournament in Montpelier a few weeks ago, which is a huge reason for the overall rise in both Chittenden and Washington counties.

The organizers of that tournament should be lynched. That had absolutely no place in inviting teams up from out of state. It turns out that some duchebag hockey dad from CT knew that both he and his 2 kids were infected, lied to the organizers, and became a super spreader. One could blame him, but again, that's why we have regulations that said it should have never happened in the first place.

Maybe my post was directed at Tod, not ogkb.

I get it.
you read about that wedding?
that father should face criminals charges IMO. He knew? Fucking wild.

vermont covid forecast is expected to be at 50 cases a day mid-nov.

with the ski/ride season coming up, y'all ain't gonna keep people out who are jonsin' for that fresh pow pow

killington prides itself as being the first to open on the east coast every year.

and you can bet your ass people are thinking vermont is safe, so why not ride because they don't have the covid.

we need a leader who has a plan, who will run this bitch down.

it's gonna take a national effort.
