Frank Zappa-30 Years Gone Today

Forums:

I was lucky to see him four times, once on the Them Or Us tour in 1984 at Merriweather Post Pavilion, and three times on his final tour in 1988, twice at the  Warner Theater in Washington D. C. and the final time at Towson State University's fieldhouse outside of Baltimore.  Zappa shows were a unique experience with humor, intelligence, artistry, and brilliant playing that made me feel I was in the presence of genius.  As The Girl On The Bus says in "Packard Goose", Music is the best!

Much love to the Zappa family, the musicians who shared the stage with him, and to his legacy and those working to preserve it and be inspired by it.

There's still more trouble coming every day.  Miss you Frank.

My first Zappa show was his last (in the USA).  Hot Tuna opened. Amazing night.

Got to see him 2 nights in a row at Pier 86 back in 1984.  Genius is an overused word--not when it came to Frank!

The greatest of the greats, would love to hear his commentary on what's going on these days!

He is sorely missed. I first saw him on 10/30/77, the night before Halloween. Ten minutes into the show, I was hooked for life, his guitar solos were legendary.

hoping someone posts that 85 roundtable with some dudes where he predicts a national christian theocracy

another voice we desperately need this day

First saw him in 75 - Oakland Paramount. Saw him about 4 more times - the last in December 84 in Salt Lake City.

He is sorely missed.

This link gets right to the fascist theocracy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AlePLLlfH4Q

And this clip from 1963 one has Frank showing Steve Allen how to play a bicycle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QF0PYQ8IOL4

Saw him in '84 (I think)... what a show!

Miss ya, Frank!
