I don't think they've run their course on the East Coast, the Brooklyn Bowl shows seemed to have many new(er) fans in attendance. A thinned out Cap is a great thing..see:Hooteroll
JRAD is not even close to running it's course. Go see them live if you can! JRAD may be the best GD jam band playing now. As long as this group stays together it's going to get better.
I've seen them live plenty. I was onboard early on & still respect what they're doing. The GD cover band thing wave is starting to pass and it's time for that band to make some original music.
The shit thing is that most of the people buying tix to JRAD shows wouldn't even consider going to see the same band performing original songs.
JRAD plays RR this weekend and it suppose to be a high of 40 degrees during the day and snowing. Probably in the 30's by show time at night. MMW opens. Should be interesting...
Think it is the night before JRAD plays the ogden in denver and it is sold out show.
We are all watching the weather for this weekend. We want to let everyone know that we are looking at indoor options for the Red Rocks show as playing outdoors may be unsafe and miserable. We know a lot of people are traveling out to Colorado and want to confirm that we are definitely playing 2 shows this weekend. If the forecast maintains the trend its on, we will move the Red Rocks show indoors. All the Red Rocks tickets will work for that show. So stay tuned, we want to do and will do what’s right for everyone’s safety.
>It's really hard to write songs as good as Hunter/Garcia's.
No one wanted a GD retread as 100% of everything would fall short. JRAD filled the space of many boring GD cover bands but yet they exist only because Russo was tapped by Phil.
Russo was not a GD guy but is smart enough to know that bills need to be paid.
JRAD's members have had many projects. None of them made $$.
>I'd still be there.
So you were there before these guys were playing GD music? Of course you weren't.
"So you were there before these guys were playing GD music? Of course you weren't. "
Nice try. They weren't playing anything like this music before. The Duo had its charms but wasn't my type of groove, and you couldn't pay me enough to see a Led Zeppelin cover band.
Traveling on biz in China with spotty access to internet. Just tried pre-sale and it appears to be sold out, just checking to see if that is indeed the case.
"So, once again you are only interested in these guys because they play GD music."
Sorry Mr. Snarky, but you still lose.
I'm interested in bands that play improvisational music, especially high energy improvisational music. I did not experience that in any of the previous bands that I had seen any of these guys in. If I'm guilty of experiencing what they can do via their interpretations of GD music so be it. The fact is that I would now go see them whether or not they were playing GD music.

Might I suggest that every improvisational jam that these guys play (and that makes up a lot of what they play) IS original music.
And if they continued to do that sort of thing sans GD tunes I'd still be there. The video I saw of the Hooteroll show was fantastic.
