Musical Topic -- Weir & Wolf Bros stream this Evening...

Forums:

It's out there !

Go listen if you're Musically inclined.

If I wasn't watching the Light of Day virtual festival right now, I would be watching this.

I think this facebook link should work.

He just played an excellent version of Easy To Slip, a long-time personal Weir favorite of mine.

He sounds really good, especially for such an old road dog.

Atta' boy Bobby.

Nice Easy to Slip. Thanks. Pretty spot on for now.

Hey, this is good.

The keys & pedal steel make a real difference; they sound like a full group.

Atta' boy Bobby.

The FB link has the first 30 minutes for free. And yeah, that Easy to Slip was pretty sweet.

Nice to be able to catch it from the beginning.

Thanks for sharing

Would love to be hearing some fresh Phil, but this second set preview vid is a pretty good watch. They did a nice job with the horn arrangements on Uncle John's Band (starts around 14:45) and definitely rehearsed a little. Good stuff from Bob.

Gotta be weird playing in front of a bank of monitors.

In a world distracted by cats on screens.

I liked the stream and the monitors packed with Zoom attendees, although at an apparent 35 second delay, added some "crowd feel" as well. As ever, TRI is an awesome studio with top tier technology!

....the full-screen bong-hitting lady head out there added some nice 'ambiance' too ;)

Watched it last night, thought it sounded great!

How was My Brother Esau?

The intro to Mission In The Rain had me reaching for the mouse but, mercifully, that FB recording ended right there.  I'll assume it got better.

I'm imagining a nice pedal steel solo.

I never knew it was Croz that came up with the familiar riff to Playin' in the Band.

I actually listened (audio only) to both sets and was Impressed with the quality of Musicianeering.

Definitely not bad Music.  It was pretty Good,  and the sound was fine.

The Essau was fantastic Johnny

What is this place and what you all done with the REAL zone?????

A few things considered,  I thought it was pretty Decent Music.  Sound quality was just Fine.

Did not watch the Video,  so no opinions there.

Great to see Weir & Wolf Bros. still out there and Vertical.  Hey 1977, it's a Few years later.

I enjoyed the clip of BEW and El Paso that I watched.  Leisz adds some excellent color and tone with the steel, and Chimenti adds another lead voice and helps open up the songbook.  Both give Weir plenty of room to do his thing.  Bob looked like he was right at home, which he more or less was.  Don Was and Jay Lane were sounding good too, keeping the tempos right there without getting in the way.  Haven't got any Donbombs yet.

I'd enjoy paying money to see these guys in a little theater more than Ratdog.

Thanks Woz.  I haven't heard one of those in a long time.

It was on while I was reading and Train In Vain made me smile

Bobby covering The Clash....I love it

I believe that GD and Clash were on same Bill at a Jamaican Music Festival maybe 1982.  They probably hung out and traded Stickers.

Deadheads probably had a big impression on Joe Strummer.  The Clash were being labeled "the only band that matters", which sounded nice, but they didn't have a few thousand fans following them around on tour.
