Vibes needed for my Dad please

Forums:

My dad may have had a stroke on Saturday night. He was not found until this afternoon. Please send out your extra vibes if you have them for my sweet, kind, honest, loyal, smart and funny father. I love him so very much. He is my best friend. I am 2500 miles from him and am so very sad. I just want to be there holding his hand.

Thankfully he is not alone. My brother arrived a few hours ago at the hospital and we are waiting on the results of his cat scan. If you can spare some vibes and prayers they would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so very much my beautiful zoner family.

awwwwwww, the distance makes it extra hard, best wishes for your dad's outcome, Merriweather, and you and your family's peace of mind.

((((((((((Dad, Merriweather and family)))))))))))

You your father, and your family have my strongest thoughts and prayers for the best of outcomes.

Update

Not a Stroke!!!! Cat scan and 2 MRI's came back clean!!! They think it is a blood pressure thing.

The story goes something like this. Dad lives alone, he woke up around 2am on Saturday night/Sunday morning and wasn't feeling well. As he headed for the bathroom he passed out face first into a glass wall and knocked himself out. He regained consciousness around 20 hours later in a pool of blood from hitting his face and could not move his arms or legs. He could hear his neighbors and tried to yell for help but didn't have enough strength. He laid on the floor not being able to move for over 2 days. Heartbreaking. Thankfully a client called the police because Dad missed a meeting with her on Monday evening and she was worried. They found him on Tuesday around 11am.

He is in the hospital and my brother is with him. He is pretty banged up and still has very little use of his arms. The doctors think since they were pinned under him for so many hours the lack of motion is from loss of blood circulation. Neurologically, everything seems fine. Emotionally he is a mess. He had spent 2 days on the floor afraid he was going to die and reliving his life over and over in his head. Being in his 70's he lost a lot of confidence in his ability to live alone safely but I am hoping it is an overreaction to the situation. (I think he may have fainted before but he did not tell us. A neighbor mentioned to my brother if he knew of the "other times" this had happened and we had no idea. We will have to have a serious conversation about this but now is not the time. He needs to heal.)

In a few days they will transfer him to an acute rehab center for 14 days to monitor his progress and he will have 4 to 6 hours of physical therapy which is great! If at that point he still is having issues, I will go and stay with him until he is able to take good care of himself. I feel very blessed to have a lifestyle that gives me the opportunity to be flexible with work/life so I can be there for him. Family is forever and I am so very lucky to still have most of mine.

Thank you so much for the love and vibes beautiful friends. I am a caretaker at heart and am so far away from my family it was really rough not being there. You gave me strength and hope at a scary time and I really appreciate your support. Huge hugs and kisses.

Viva la Zone!

Great news merriweather girl

Great New re not a Stroke, good that your Brother can be there with him. Hoping for best case recovery.

Love & Light

right on Meri - hope this turns out well for your Dad...

Dear sweet one, I'm so glad to read your report. It sounds like the time ahead will be tough for him, as he figures out what he needs to do, but he has you and your family supporting him, something you do so well.

Much love.

Wishing you and your Dad all the Best. I am happy for you that you are able to assist Him if need be.

Went through a few different 'Stumble & Fall' incidents with my Dad back when. The first was a face-plant on the brick steps by his kitchen door, and I was fortunately swimming in the pool 100 yards away so I could run over and help him up. In retrospect, he could have had a concussion (but did not) so the proper thing would have been a trip to E-Room.

We did put a hand-rail up on those steps, but later falls were other spots.

Thanks for sharing the news.

I'm so glad to see that your Dad will go to acute rehab.  So much better than a SNF.  I've seen amazing results from this level of care.

Best to Dad and Family

Great news! Healing vibes to your Dad. Peaceful vibes to you.

So scary to read, but also so good to hear he didnt have a stroke....

You are a good egg, as they say, merri

Continued prayers and strength for all

A similar incident happened to an ex-Girlfriend's Mom, only she fell getting into the tub and broke a hip. It was a couple days before a relative found her. She could not manage to get out and phone for help. She lived through the incident, but soon sold the house and opted for assisted living.

Glad he's ok, what a scary thing to happen for everyone. Peace, Love and Light !

(((((((((((((Merri-Dad-Feel-Better)))))))))))))))

good news Merri.

get well soon Dad!

Glad for you that it wasn't something worse.

((((Dads))))

So happy to hear of the good outcome thus far, MG.

Frustrating for you to be far away. My dad was 700 miles away from me when he tripped and went head first into a wall.

If he's a vet, especially during a wartime period, make sure you check out options with the VA.

People sometimes make fun up those call buttons for when "I've fallen and I can't get up". For folks at that age, sometimes they're a good idea.

Continued good vibes and outcomes. Glad to finally see a report on progress, and it was good!

Have been caretaker to my parents for past 6 years. Forced them to move closer to me (were 1.5 hours away before). Mother had dementia, father and her in denial for years. Took it's toll on him and he ends up beaten down and a nasal infection necessitates a craniotomy which he survives, but begets a series of seizures as he doesn't regulate his meds.

The move was brutal as he hated the thought of losing his independence. It was a struggle to get him to wear the lifelink products, etc. Meanwhile, mother's dementia progresses.

Fast forward, Mother just passed in October. Quickly, peacefully and mercifully. Over a decade with Alz.

Father, now alone, physically older than his 86 years, mentally strong, but crazy (Fox News poisoned what was previously an apolitical man).

Prayers for your fathers recovery and most importantly, his ability to recognize that he will need help as his moves through his new realities of life. If he can do that, it will make his runway longer and all of your families lives easier.

Vibes and MUCH respect to you too, Markd. Tough stretch you've persevered through and you deserve BIG kudos for caring for your folks.
